Chapter 670: Chapter 539: To Be Opened by Miss Jing Ci
“These murals might be related to the Divine War of the Ancient Times.”
Gui Junmeng spoke slowly, her slender hand reaching out, her fingertips gently caressing the mural before her.
“The Divine War?” Xiao Mo was slightly taken aback and turned his head.
“Yes,” Gui Junmeng replied.
“I’m sure you’ve heard the legend. In the Ancient Times, there was a Human Race Sword Immortal who led the Ten Thousand Races in a rebellion against the high and mighty Divine Spirits.”
“I have indeed.”
Xiao Mo nodded.
“That Human Race Sword Immortal was not only the leader of the Human Race but was also acknowledged by the entire Demon Race. Even now, some tribes in the Demon Race’s World still pay tribute to that legendary Human Race Sword Immortal.”
“That’s right.” Gui Junmeng turned her head, her clear eyes gazing quietly at Xiao Mo.
“But, Young Master Xiao, did you know that the Human Race Sword Immortal’s Sword Technique was actually taught to him by a Divine Spirit?”
“Hmm?” Xiao Mo paused, a flicker of surprise on his face. “I didn’t know that. Miss, could you please elaborate?”
Gui Junmeng shook her head gently.
“I’m not too clear on the specifics myself. My master once told me that in the Ancient Times, the Human Race Sword Immortal who led the Ten Thousand Races to end the age of the Divine Spirits seemed to have a master-disciple relationship with one of them.”
She paused for a moment, her gaze returning to the mural before her.
“Furthermore, that Human Race Sword Immortal had five Maids, all of whom were from the Phoenix clan.” Gui Junmeng’s gaze slowly swept over the last mural, where five winged women knelt on one knee, wings spread, as if respectfully seeing off their master.
“They are the Red Phoenix, the Azure Luan, the Great Swan, the Violet Phoenix, and the Golden Phoenix…” Gui Junmeng’s voice was soft and distant. “I believe the five women in this mural, kneeling before the man, must be them.”
“Legend has it that after the Human Race Sword Immortal passed away, his five Maids vanished without a trace. No one ever knew where they went.”
Gui Junmeng’s tone held a hint of reminiscence, as if she were also lamenting that sealed chapter of history.
“And judging from the aura emanating from this gloomy abyss, this tomb should belong to the Violet Phoenix. She must be one of the Human Race Sword Immortal’s five Maids.”
“I see…” Xiao Mo nodded slightly, his gaze falling upon the mural. His eyes showed a trace of respect, and his expression was solemn and serene.
Gui Junmeng looked at Xiao Mo’s face, her eyes blinking gently. With a hint of curiosity, she asked softly, “If this tomb truly belongs to one of the Human Race Sword Immortal’s Maids, then it’s highly likely that his inheritance was left here. Aren’t you interested in that, Young Master Xiao?”
“I am a Daoist Sect cultivator, not a Sword Cultivator.”
Xiao Mo’s tone was calm and candid.
“So to me, that ancestor’s Sword Dao inheritance is… well, it’s alright, I suppose.”
“Besides, these things are a matter of destiny. Even if a Sword Dao inheritance is truly hidden here, if I’m not fated to have it, it won’t fall into my lap.”
He spoke with an air of indifference, as if discussing some mundane matter that had nothing to do with him.
“Miss Gui, let’s keep moving.” His voice was calm and steady as he started walking forward at an unhurried pace.
Standing behind Xiao Mo, Gui Junmeng watched his retreating figure, her eyes blinking gently. An indescribable look surfaced in their depths.
‘Any normal Cultivator, upon learning they might obtain the inheritance of the greatest Human Race Sword Immortal, would be burning with uncontrollable desire, even willing to pay any price for it.’
‘But in Xiao Mo’s eyes, she saw not the slightest hint of greed.’
‘This man… is so strange.’
“Miss Gui?”
Just as Gui Junmeng was standing there in a daze, Xiao Mo turned around, looked at the motionless woman, and called out her name in confusion.
“Coming…” Gui Junmeng snapped out of it and trotted after him, her steps light yet hurried.
Walking beside him and gazing at his handsome profile, the corners of her lips curled up slightly, and a faint smile bloomed in her eyes.
‘He’s so strange…’
‘But…’
‘…so good…’
…
Xiao Mo and Gui Junmeng continued down the tomb passage.
Along the way, they encountered some ink-black flowers that gave off a faint luster in the gloom.
Even Xiao Mo recognized them at a glance.
These flowers were called “Phoenix Blood Flowers.”
As the name suggested, Phoenix Blood Flowers could only grow and bloom when irrigated with the blood of the Phoenix clan.
Phoenix Blood Flowers were exceptionally precious, especially to the winged races, for whom they were a sacred treasure used to purify bloodlines.
Now that the Phoenix clan had long since vanished from the world and was all but extinct, a single Phoenix Blood Flower was enough to make Cultivators of the winged races from the Upper Three Realms fight to the death over it.
Xiao Mo and Gui Junmeng each took only one and didn’t pick any more.
They both knew that any Spirit Flowers and Herbs would gradually lose their spiritual energy once picked; it was only a matter of time.
They took one now just in case it might prove useful later.
As for the rest, they would leave them for the next fated person to find.
Besides the Phoenix Blood Flowers, Xiao Mo and Gui Junmeng also found Vermilion Phoenix Fruits, which could purify one’s vital energy and help a Cultivator break through to the Upper Three Realms, as well as a Rainbow Feather Dress meticulously crafted from the refined feathers of the Phoenix clan.
Seeing all these treasures, large and small, Xiao Mo felt increasingly moved by the tomb owner’s generosity.
The owner of the tomb seemed to have genuinely wanted to leave their legacy to future generations, as they hadn’t set up many traps or Arrays to make things difficult.
