Chapter 1015: Chapter 423: Fortunately, My Skills Are Superior (Part 2)
Celestial Thunder subdues demons; back when dealing with all kinds of monsters in Hymn Company and the Cursed Dungeon, its power was immense.
Aside from those two, what he used less often was Water Thunder. Though its main job was to command the Water Mansion, he mostly used it for summoning clouds and rain.
He had already used three of the Five Thunders Technique, with only Earth Thunder and Community Thunder left unused. Now the chance had arrived.
Facing the Death Wind, what he unleashed at this moment was Earth Thunder.
Earth Thunder mainly gives birth to all things, nourishing the five grains; it is a symbol of Life, and also possesses the ability to wash away filth and perform Exorcism on wandering souls.
Whether it was the vitality within Earth Thunder or its Exorcism of the dead, both naturally counter the Death Wind.
Even though it wasn’t realistic to think he could defeat Hel using Earth Thunder alone, he didn’t need to win—he only needed to hold out against Hel’s broom long enough to buy time for Chaos Authority.
As lightning traced along the surface of his True Self’s body, a blast of thunder fell from the sky, striking the ground in front of the True Self.
Under the thunderlight, vast swathes of yellow earth-qi surged upward, forming a barrier that stood before the Death Wind.
When the Death Wind collided with the earth-qi, the first thing to change was the wailing souls inside the Death Wind.
The Earth Thunder’s ability to Exorcise the dead calmed the souls’ wails. Combined with Wu Chang’s main body hiding behind the True Self and waving the Soul Cleansing Banner, the countless spirits within the Death Wind all turned into pure white light—some rising into the sky, some sinking into the Soul Cleansing Banner.
Without the blessing of those souls, the howling of the Death Wind instantly quieted, its power weakened by thirty percent.
Through his traits he dispersed the restless souls; facing the Death Divinity that was about to arrive next, the True Self could only take it head-on.
The earth-qi triggered by Earth Thunder could last for less than one second within the Death Wind, and even during that second it couldn’t completely block it, only partially reduce its force.
The Death Wind seemed endless. Any other Player would definitely abandon Earth Thunder and look for another solution.
But Wu Chang was different: that single second of uptime was enough for him to chain another Earth Thunder.
He wasn’t afraid of frequent Skill use; he only feared Skills being ineffective. As long as Earth Thunder worked, even if it only lasted half a second, he could keep burning Energy against Hel.
Not to mention he currently had 395 Energy, already more than Hel’s, so he didn’t fear this tug-of-war. Even if their Energy pools were the same, he could rely on Chaos Authority to continuously steal Hel’s Attributes, and victory would come sooner or later.
As for the Death Wind that penetrated the earth-qi, the True Self would just have to tank it.
Devouring the Source of the Deep Sea not only changed his Sea Giant exterior, it also made his Life Attribute enjoy the same 70% bonus as Power when he activated Sea Giant Transformation.
With the Energy Shield from Knight Will Not Die Unarmed, plus his high Life Value, the True Self’s toughness was utterly ridiculous.
The appearance of the True Self also allowed him to perfectly exploit the effect of the "Titan" Title.
Besides making sure the Player is no longer threatened by lethal hits—even if their vital points are struck they won’t die instantly, and unless the main body is maimed, limb loss won’t be triggered—the Titan Title has one more Ability.
That is, when a Player’s Life Value drops below 5%, incoming attacks will no longer reduce Life, but instead deduct their temporary Strength Attribute cap.
This pushed the True Self’s tankiness to yet another level; he stood at the front like a wall that could never be breached.
There were actual walls inside the secret research facility.
At first, facing the Death Wind, Wu Chang wasn’t completely confident, so he hung the Four-sided Age Fire Lamp on the True Self.
After enduring several waves of the Death Wind, he started to realize that Hel’s attacks were only so-so.
That saying "only a God can defeat a God" wasn’t entirely true.
All you need to do is first stack three layers of Mamba Mark for a 30% damage reduction; then Exorcise the souls within the Death Wind to cut Hel’s damage by thirty percent; next, use Earth Thunder to neutralize the death-qi, massively weakening the Death Wind’s damage; and finally, with a permanent shield three times your Energy, huge Life, and the "Titan" Title, you can tank a God’s ultimate move.
Is that hard?
As long as you put in effort and sweat, every Player can do it.
Just as the True Self was bracing against the Death Wind, another notification popped up in front of Wu Chang.
"Chaos Authority activated, Life +60, Energy +70."
He looked toward Hel in the distance; the light membrane on her body that represented Chaos Authority had indeed deepened in color again.
Chaos Authority had triggered three times, drawing a total of 120 Life and 150 Energy from Hel. Her Defense was close to breaking.
Seeing this, he directly summoned the Chaos Rune, fully unleashing Chaos Authority’s effects and entering the final sprint phase.
At the same time, he stopped turtling on Defense and started maneuvering the True Self toward Hel, taking the initiative to attack.
Relying on his powerful physique, Wu Chang’s main body and the True Self steadily closed in on Hel, while Hel, having had too many Attributes stolen, could barely maintain the Death Wind.
From the moment the Death Wind was activated until now, Wu Chang’s main body had been repeatedly casting Earth Thunder, already burning more than two hundred Energy; Hel’s situation wouldn’t be any better.
The third activation of Chaos Authority had sucked away 70 Energy, nearly draining Hel dry. The left half of her face that belonged to an ordinary person was now deathly pale, both hands shaking as they swung the broom, and even the Bai Ma beneath her was starting to lose its footing.
The True Self pushed through the weakening wind and came right up to Hel. Lightning of Divine Thunder flashed around his fist as he slammed it down toward Hel.
Faced with the massive fist descending from above, Hel could no longer afford to keep channeling the Death Wind. She wanted to dodge, but the poison of Deep Water Bite in her body was too severe, making her movements sluggish beyond belief; she couldn’t escape the fist’s area at all.
She could only lift her broom overhead in a sky-supporting stance to brace against the True Self’s fist.
