Chapter 1005 - 420: Source of the Anomaly

Chapter 1005: Chapter 420: Source of the Anomaly

When the Purifying Divine Power condensed, Wu Chang could sense that around the Underground Shelter, a mysterious Divine Power began to gather.

The soul-eating dogs still wished to enter the Underground Shelter, but due to Erin’s obstruction, they couldn’t get close at all.

Wu Chang waited to see if a stronger creature could be drawn out after the soul-eating dogs failed. Unfortunately, no more powerful Divinity gathered outside after the soul-eating dogs, as if the hidden mastermind had run out of options.

As the Purifying Light shot into the surface, Wu Chang entered the temporary administrator perspective. His ritual began to ascend, with his view traversing the Underground Shelter, arriving at high altitude on the Plane, overlooking the entire planet.

He had once used this perspective to observe the Underground Shelter world when he first obtained temporary administrator rights.

In his vision, the planet where the Underground Shelter was located appeared utterly barren, filled with an ashen hue, and amidst the ruins of cities, many deformed Surface People wandered, moving through the abandoned cities.

The scene he saw now was basically the same as before. The only difference was that the deformed Surface People seemed to sense something. They began to run toward buildings, searching for places to hide.

With Wu Chang in the overlooking view, half a minute later, a pillar of light filled with Divinity broke out from the Underground Shelter, soaring into the sky.

The Divinity-infused Purifying Light appeared in ripples, extending outward layer by layer.

Where the ripple passed, the surface’s ashen color diminished, transitioning from ashen to a gray-black hue.

The previously lifeless surface began to reverse due to the Divine evolution, gradually showing signs of vitality.

But unlike the surface soil, the Surface People who hadn’t yet hidden in shelters, when in contact with the purification ripple, their bodies emitted a faint smoke as if being corroded.

They wailed and collapsed like vampires exposed to sunlight in the Purifying Light, soon ceasing all movement.

He Yun was not planning to purify the entire surface when activating the surface purification generator this time.

The planet He Yun was on, although slightly smaller than Blue Star, was still a massive undertaking to purify entirely, consuming astronomical amounts of Power of Faith and energy.

Even if she invested the entire Desire Stele, it would be difficult to purify even one-tenth of the surface.

What she needed to do now was first purify the surface around the 88th Underground Shelter, allowing the shelter’s residents to emerge to the surface and establish a simple base.

Utilizing the surface base, send a message to all Underground Shelters that can still receive signals, gathering the living humans together.

With the Power of Faith of all Survivors, gradually expand the purified area outward.

The purification of the entire World is destined to be a long and arduous process that cannot be completed overnight.

Without the interference of soul-eating dogs, the advancement of the Purifying Light proceeded smoothly, quickly clearing a small brown area on the ashen planet, centered around the 88th Underground Shelter.

The area was so small that Wu Chang had to lower his view to see the entire purified region clearly.

He shared the view’s image with the All-Knowing Crystal, which observed that the purified area was less than one-thousandth of the planet’s surface area.

Yet the purified area was quite large, its existence already surpassing the area of several provinces in Xia Country.

Reconstructing a surface base in such a space, with the infrastructure capability of the Underground Shelter Plane, could easily accommodate over a hundred million people.

For the Survivors on this planet, this area was entirely sufficient.

As the purified area reached the planned size, the spread of the Purifying Light began to gradually weaken.

When the Purifying Light reached the utmost edge, Wu Chang clearly saw something blocking the Purifying Power from entering.

More surprisingly still, he hadn’t noticed such an anomaly in this place before the Purifying Light spread.

The place of anomaly was a black city, from which, looking down, no abnormalities were apparent. Wu Chang’s only memory there was that before the Purifying Light appeared, it seemed many Surface People had hidden in the city.

He withdrew from the temporary administrator perspective, pulling his sight back internally to look at He Yun, who was adjusting instruments.

Without needing his reminder, the operating screen of the surface purification generator had already marked the area of purification failure.

The location of purification failure was 360 kilometers from the 88th Underground Shelter in a straight line.

According to the map records, the city there was named Collette City, covering 3500 square kilometers, with a permanent population of 2 million.

Belonging to the strategic map recorded by the Underground Shelter, marked points showed no key resources or nearby Underground Shelters.

Its only feature was its position at the highest point in the area, with an average altitude 800 meters higher than the next highest city around.

He Yun put away her tablet, integrated her consciousness into the large screen, directly magnifying the area of Collette City.

"Something here is preventing the entry of the Purifying Divine Power. From the feedback information from the Purifying Divinity, the power inside the city is sourced from the same power constituting the soul-eating dogs."

Wu Chang looked up at the large screen, equally intrigued by what was hidden within Collette City.

"Since we’re here and have identified the source of the problem, we might as well go check the situation."
