Beast Taming: I'm Really Just a Forest Ranger
Chapter 648 - 290: The Adventurer Team Welcomes a New Member! (Part 2)
Cola is back; it seems I need to find an opportunity to visit Boss.
If Boss could guide my little cub a bit, its future would undoubtedly be bright.
The Puppy Team soon finished circling around the village, then charged into the dense woods led by Cola.
The Qinling is vast; a single dog cannot cover it all.
But Cola has always firmly believed that wherever it has left footprints, that place belongs to the Puppy Team’s territory.
"Chirp?"
Sprite is visiting the dense forest for the first time, feeling extremely curious.
Though it is a harsh winter, the bare branches and occasional appearances of wild Pet Beast caught its deep interest, causing its paws to unknowingly stray from the Puppy Team’s bounds.
"Woof!"
Fortunately, after the lesson at Pudaxue Mountain, Cola keeps an eye on Sprite at all times. Seeing the latter unconsciously leave the group, it hastily pulls Sprite back.
"Chirp?"
Sprite looks back at Cola, full of confusion.
"Woof!"
Cola’s face unusually serious, shakes its head slowly.
It’s dangerous here, do not leave my sight.
"Chirp..."
Sprite reluctantly glances at the departing unfamiliar Pet Beast, nodding obediently.
In the following time, Cola leads the Puppy Team to conquer the wilderness; they either rescue passer-by Beastmasters attacked by wild Pet Beasts or have close encounters with different Pet Beast clans, acquiring meeting gifts through "friendly exchanges."
The cold wind howls, night falls deeply, with a bright moon hanging high in the sky.
The shadows of a large and small figure walk side by side back to the farm, with the moonlight casting long shadows that are sliced in two by a mighty blow from Iron Head practicing Steel Blade.
Sprite widens its eyes, staring blankly at the imposing senior Iron Head, mouth agape in surprise.
The next second, Sprite instinctively turns to Boss, asking the curiosity in its heart: "Chirp?"
After previous battles, Sprite knows the invincible status of the big sister is unrivaled, even the mightiest Boss Cola is not her match.
Who is stronger, Boss Cola or Senior Iron Head?
Sprite has yet to witness Senior Iron Head’s battle scene firsthand, only hearing from other seniors not to provoke Senior Iron Head, plus Senior Iron Head’s stunning attack just now, sparking this curiosity in its heart.
"Woof!"
Upon hearing Sprite’s question, Cola proudly lifts its head, eyes filled with pride, ready to declare that aside from the big sister being able to temporarily defeat it, no other companions stand a chance.
Just then, Iron Head seems to hear their discussion, casting a subtle inquiring look.
Cola recalls the scene of Iron Head slicing a boulder in half, falling into silence.
"Chirp?"
Seeing Boss Cola not answer for a long time, Sprite tilts its head, continuing to ask.
"Woof!"
Cola’s eyes sharpen; suddenly recalling its owner’s lessons, it glares fiercely at Sprite.
You’re still a child; these matters are far from you, unrelated to you!
Your current task is to train hard, grow well, strive to become a meaningful Pet Beast for the farm soon!
It’s crucial to know that you’re in the most critical phase of a Pet Beast’s youth, must seize training time!
The other pivotal periods are juvenile, growth, and maturity...
With an unhappy Sprite inside, they enter the farm, now deep into the night; the lights dim, silence pervades.
The night hides the day’s hustle and bustle, keeping all Pet Beast cries shrouded, only rows of Camphor Trees still gently sway their leaves, creating a rhythm welcoming them home.
Seeing Sprite slightly dejected, Cola’s eyes flicker, dragging it to the kitchen, claw opening the fridge, pulling out a bottle of Cola, a bottle of Sprite.
Cola places Cola in front of itself, Sprite pushing Sprite towards Sprite.
"Chirp!"
Seeing the longed-for bottled Sprite, Sprite’s eyes widen, filled with surprise, tail wagging wildly.
"Woof~"
Cola graciously waves its paw.
Drink up!
This is my reward for you.
"Chirp..."
When Cola assists in unscrewing the cap, Sprite prepares to drink close, suddenly remembering something, looking up at Boss Cola.
Boss, won’t the farm owner get angry knowing we’re drinking beverages so late?
Cola instantly glances nervously towards the bedroom, yet little brother watches eagerly; hence, Cola, gritting its teeth, emboldens itself.
It’s fine!
If there’s trouble, I’ll handle it!
"Chirp!"
Sprite gazes deeply at Boss Cola, tears welling up at the eye corner, then drinks vigorously.
Cannot let Boss Cola’s good intentions be in vain!
Sprite swallows with heartache, gulping it all down.
"Quack?"
But a sudden duck quack breaks the midnight silence, startling Sprite, hair standing tensely, frozen like a motionless Winter Dog figurine.
"Woof~"
Naturally, Cola is not scared, turning to glance at the relaxed Run Run Duck at the doorway, casting a discontent look.
Don’t scare my little brother!
"Quack quack~"
Duck is undeterred by Cola’s displeasure, casually strolling near the duo, eagerly checking, yet upon seeing it’s just drinks, deeply disappointed, originally excited wings halting.
So boring, Duck, it’s not grilled fish.
"Dian Dian?"
Electric Flying Cat appears from somewhere, staring fixedly at the three little ones, nose twitching; once confirming no smell of delicacies, it shakes its head in disappointment.
But Electric Flying Cat’s gaze suddenly falls on Sprite, eyes swirling, faintly glittering.
"Woof!"
Noticing Electric Flying Cat’s reaction, Cola quickly shields Sprite behind, warily watching the visitor.
