Beast Taming: I Have an Immortal Mansion

Chapter 595 - 409: Wind Breath Returning Soil Beast (Part 3)

When the colossal beast’s shadow blotted out the sun and loomed over Fang Qingyuan, he finally understood what Qiqi had meant by "super-sized."

It was truly massive. When the beast plunged back into a vortex of heavy earth, the resulting splash of thick, sticky soil was like a titanic wave that nearly buried Qiqi.

In a fleeting glimpse, Fang Qingyuan saw that the ancient beast had the body of a mole but the mouth of an anteater—long and curved like a bird’s beak. Combined with its enormous frame, the image was unforgettable.

This massive goofball hadn’t noticed Qiqi at all. It just rolled and tunneled back and forth between the vortexes of heavy earth, like a child playing alone, completely oblivious to its surroundings.

"Give it a signal so it notices us. Otherwise, it’ll keep this up for a long time."

Qiqi was having a hard time dodging between the churning earthen tornadoes and the occasional tidal waves of soil. This was the Wind Breath Returning Soil Beast’s home turf. Its power was effectively tripled here, while Qiqi, suppressed by the environment, could only use half of her strength.

Hearing Qiqi, Fang Qingyuan focused his mind for a few moments. A brilliant longbow appeared silently in his hands. He held it in his left hand and slowly placed his right upon the string.

The moment he touched the string, the Wind Breath Returning Soil Beast’s playful movements slowed. When Fang Qingyuan began channeling Spiritual Power into the bow, the beast turned its long snout to point directly at him.

"That’s enough! Put it away before you overdo it and make things worse."

Qiqi quickly called out, telling Fang Qingyuan to put away the terrifying longbow. The power of the Taihao City-Breaking Bow was an even greater threat to creatures of enormous size.

Fang Qingyuan readily complied. With a flip of his hand, he recalled the Taihao City-Breaking Bow into his Immortal Mansion. Only then did the Wind Breath Returning Soil Beast slowly approach.

"You two wait here for a moment. I’ll go say hello. As old neighbors, this Wind Breath Returning Soil Beast should show my ancestor some respect."

Qiqi set Fang Qingyuan and Jinbao down, then glided over and began muttering to the Wind Breath Returning Soil Beast. The beast apparently didn’t understand human language; the two communicated using some ancient method.

A moment later, Qiqi glided back, saying with relief,

"The Wind Breath Returning Soil Beast is willing to help. It has a vague memory of that Ghost Cultivation Land and can take us there. But in exchange, we need to bring it a satisfying meal."

’A satisfying meal?’ Fang Qingyuan looked at the Wind Breath Returning Soil Beast’s massive size, his expression troubled. ’With a body that big, how much would even count as a single meal?’

"The Wind Breath Returning Soil Beast isn’t a picky eater. When there’s nothing else, it even gnaws on the heavy earth underground. As long as it’s a large quantity and has a little Spiritual Qi, it’ll be fine."

Hearing this, Fang Qingyuan’s eyes lit up. The leftover lees from the wine he brewed in his Immortal Mansion had piled up into a mountain over time. He’d originally planned to use it as fertilizer for his Spirit Fields, but now it seemed he could put the waste to good use.

Half a day later, the Wind Breath Returning Soil Beast let out a satisfied, wine-scented burp and gestured for Fang Qingyuan, Qiqi, and Jinbao to climb onto its back. But as the beast plunged headfirst into the Land of Black Soil, Fang Qingyuan felt a faint pang of regret. Perhaps he’d fed it a bit too much of the wine lees.
