Logan stared up at him_ wondering whether to believe what he was seeing or not. It was Samuel Frood! The blackmailer that had been giving him headaches was none other than an insect like him!

He knew Samuel very well, he was not that smart, so he had to be pulling his legs. Besides if the original video was in the phone which he had with him here, he decided to shoot two birds with one stone. Logan let out a dry, breathy chuckle. "After everything I did for you. After taking you under my wings and protecting you all these years, this is how you choose to repay me?"

Samuel threw his head back and laughed like a mad man who had no care in the world. "Everything you did for me?! You mean sleeping with my wife and having a child with her behind my back!?"

Logan’s eyes widened slightly in genuine shock. Oh. Right. That. I had forgotten about it.

"Ah..." Logan cleared his throat, holding up a hand. "Okay, you have a few reasons to be unhappy with me. My bad about that but to be honest, your wife came on to me. She seduced me....You know how Ursula got when she wanted something and at the time, she wanted money. You were not exactly the best provider Samuel."

Samuel’s face twitched. "You have some nerve Logan! She was still my wife! Just move the damn transport beast and hand over the stones before I decide to ruin both of our lives forever. You have more to lose here compared to me."

Logan kept his cool. With his hands tucked behind his back, he made a tiny, subtle hand gesture toward the shadows behind the pier_ telling Sawyer and his men to stay down and hold their fire for now.

He slowly unstrapped the heavy bags from the transport beast, dragged them on the ground and dumped them onto the wooden deck of Ferry 32. Once the loot was offloaded, Logan casually jumped back off the ferry onto the dry stone dock. "Now hand the video over."

Samuel rushed forward, practically throwing his body onto the pile of sacks. He unzipped one, and the blinding light of hundreds of high grade energy stones illuminated his grinning face.

"When I reach a safe location far out at sea," Samuel gloated, stepping back toward the steering wheel, "I’ll send you a message with the location of the phone which has the original video. Trust my word."

Logan folded his arms, pointing a casual finger at him. "So, you don’t have the original recording here with you then?"

Samuel tapped his breast pocket with a smug grin. "Of course I do! I’d never leave something this precious behind!" He paused as he realized that he had spilled information, he was not supposed to give away. He took a step back and said quickly, "Let me warn you Logan, if you dare harm me then that video will circulate."

Logan raised an eyebrow, a cold smirk creeping onto his face. This idiot!

"Right..." Logan scoffed, shaking his head. "Look, Samuel, let’s just end this ridiculous farce for fuck’s sake. It’s not like I actually loved either of those two women anyway. If anything, I did us both a favor by taking them off your hands."

Samuel paused, thought about it for a quick second, and nodded seriously. "I agree." He was a rich man now and could get any woman of his choice. "You can trust me to keep my end of our deal. Now that you know who I am, if I double cross you, I am sure you have ways of putting out a hit on me. So, I am leaving."

He tossed the phone at Logan, squirreled inside and started the boat. With a roar of its engine, it detached from the dock and shot forward, slicing through the dark bay water at high speed.

Samuel looked back for a moment, watching Logan grow smaller and smaller on the dock. He popped open a bottle of expensive wine, raised his glass to the night sky, and let out a triumphant howl. "I’m rich! Freedom baby!"

Back on the quiet dock, Logan casually pulled a small remote with a red button out of his pocket.

Sawyer stepped out from the darkness, looking confused. "Boss? Are you letting him go just like that? Should we fill up the helicopter and go after him?"

"No need," Logan replied softly. "The idiot didn’t even check what was inside the last bag of stones."

Logan pressed his thumb down on the red button.

Not so far out at sea, a blinding orange fireball erupted from the deck of Ferry 32. The massive explosion tore the luxury boat into a million tiny, burning wooden splinters, rocking the entire bay and sending a huge wave back toward the shore.

Logan didn’t even flinch as the hot breeze blew his hair back. He casually turned around, adjusted his collar, and began walking back to his transport beast.

"See you in hell, Samuel," Logan muttered with a grin. It was over, he had eliminated one of the biggest obstacles that was standing between him and marrying Zyra Scorpion. Tomorrow was a big day.

******

Zyra woke up with a pounding headache that felt like a whole drum line was practicing inside her skull. She wasn’t sure if it was from drinking too much or from shouting and dancing like a madwoman to loud music at the wedding reception.

She rolled over, flat on her back, stared at the ceiling, and groaned. "Beauty... please. Give me something for this hangover or this headache. I swear my head is about to explode into a million pieces."

[Host, I do have some remedies,] Beauty’s mechanical voice chimed in her mind, sounding remarkably unimpressed. [However, you really should have listened to me and your husband when we were advising you to take it easy on the alcohol last night.]

Zyra blinked, trying to gather the foggy memories from the night before. She only had bits and pieces_ a lot of laughing, some questionable dance moves, and a whole lot of empty glasses. "Can you tone your volume down?"

[Hmm. Babysitting a beast egg is easier than raising you.]

A box materialized right beside her on the bed.

[Inside are vials of Toxin Eaters to sober you up fast. Some beasts will need it too, they went overboard with the alcohol last night] Beauty softly explained. [I advise you to take one together with the Instant Healing Pills. It will fix that headache in no time.]

"Beauty, you’re a lifesaver," Zyra mumbled, sitting up carefully so her brain wouldn’t spill out.

She reached into the box and pulled out a vial. Just as she was about to pop it open, her eyes landed on the bedside table. There was a steaming bowl of soup sitting there, along with a little handwritten note.

She picked up the note. Drink the soup. I went to fetch you some breakfast. — Hunter.

"Awww," Zyra cooed out loud, making a soft, touched face. "Look at my husband being all sweet."

She downed the Toxin Eater, swallowed an Instant Healing Pill, and took a big gulp of the warm soup. Instantly, the pulsing pain in her head vanished. The fogginess cleared, and her energy surged back like magic.

"Oh, yeah! That’s the stuff!"
