Both women picked up their dessert spoons and eagerly dug into the cake.

"Mmm! So sweet!" Lita cheered, stuffing a giant piece into her mouth. She had only eaten it thrice in her life. Once, when Samuel was pretending to be generous, after he sold her off to Elliot Kaelion. The second time was on her wedding night. And the third was a few days before she discovered that she was pregnant.

From now on, I will eat it every day, because my father has a private chef that can make it, she thought.

They took a second bite, a third, a fourth. Between bites, Logan asked questions about Lita’s children, feigning interest, and making suggestions on how she should live in future.

"What do you intend to do about your pregnancy? How true are the rumors that it is not of Kaelion blood?" He asked. Logan gritted his teeth as he asked the question. Lita’s foolishness made him so angry. She had a perfectly good chess piece and played it wrong. Now, the whole board was scattered.

Suddenly, Ursula stopped. Her spoon froze halfway to her mouth.

"Ahem!" Ursula cleared her throat. Then she did it again, louder. "Ahem! Ahem!"

She dropped her spoon and grabbed her neck with both hands. Her skin turned a sickly shade of purple. It felt like ten thousand tiny ants were biting the inside of her throat. She couldn’t draw in a single breath of air!

"L-Lita..." Ursula gasped out, her eyes bulging. "S-Stop... eating..."

Lita swallowed her bite and blinked in total confusion. "Huh? Mother, what’s wrong with you? Why were you eating so fast? Here, drink some water_"

A thick spurt of black blood sprayed straight out of Ursula’s mouth, splashing across the white tablecloth! Ursula fell out of her chair, hitting the floor with a heavy thud!

Her body twitched violently on the floor. With her last bit of strength, she raised a trembling, blood-stained finger, pointing at the chocolate cake. "P-Poison..." Ursula wheezed out, her eyes rolling into the back of her head. Then, her head flopped to the side.

She was dead.

Lita froze completely, her jaw hanging open. One second her mother was enjoying her favorite cake, and the next second she was a corpse bleeding on the floor! It happened so fast her brain couldn’t even process it!

"M-Mother?" Lita whispered. She slowly turned her head toward Logan, looking at him like he was a monster who had just shattered her fairytale world. "Father... why? Why did you do this!?" She fell to her knees slowly, feeling her body become weaker.

Logan chuckled softly. He casually stood up from his chair, smoothing down his expensive silk robe.

He didn’t even look at Ursula’s body. Instead, he called to his guard outside the door. "Hey. Keep these two bodies in the back room for twelve hours. Wait until the poison fully neutralizes so it doesn’t contaminate the meat. After that, chop them into small pieces and throw them into the pit to feed the lions."

Lita let out a blood-curdling scream. "WHY?! I am your daughter! Why are you doing this to us?!"

Logan looked down at her with a gaze filled with deep disgust and contempt, as if he were looking at a pile of rotten garbage.

"Little girl, this isn’t a fairytale where a long-lost daddy hugs you and makes you a princess," He said coldly. "And besides, you said you hated Zyra? Well, I am doing Zyra a favor by sending you to hell. She is my future wife, after all."

Lita’s heart shattered into a million pieces. "W-What...?" She asked amidst a weak cough. She violently coughed up a huge splash of dark blood. The poison was tearing her internal organs to shreds! She stared at him in utter disbelief. "You’re... you’re killing your own blood... for Zyra?!" she sobbed out, tears mixing with the black blood running down her chin.

"That, and the fact that you’re a big-mouthed idiot," Logan added casually. "If you run around telling people I am your father, I will lose my inheritance rights to Craw Automobiles company, and I will lose my seat as the Capital Mayor. My father-in-law will slaughter me. You are a threat to everything that I have labored to build."

Lita felt the cold embrace of death taking over her body. Her strength faded fast. She collapsed onto the floor right next to her mother’s body, her face contorted in pure, miserable rage.

With her absolute last breath, she squeezed out a final, bitter curse: "Zyra... you cursed bitch... even in death... I hate you...!"

Her body gave one final shudder, her eyes stayed wide open in despair, and Lita breathed her last and fell down.

Logan pulled out a clean white handkerchief, wiped his fingers, and walked right over their corpses without a single second thought.

Hunter tried to sleep, but he simply could not. It wasn’t because his huge, ultra-luxurious, soft bed was uncomfortable_ no, it felt like sleeping on a cloud. It was because his father had not returned home yet, and the clock on the wall already read eleven o’clock at night.

He rolled over and stared at his wife, Zyra. She was fast asleep, breathing softly and letting out cute, little snores.

And as usual, she had kicked the heavy silk covers all the way to the other side of the bed like a tiny martial artist in her dreams. Hunter let out a quiet, affectionate chuckle. He leaned over, gently pulled the blanket back over her shoulders, and tucked her in tightly. Then, moving like a ghost in the night, he slipped out of bed, put on a robe, and stealthily left the master bedroom.

He walked down the dimly lit hallway toward the mansion’s private bar. Even before reaching the double doors, he could hear loud, rowdy voices.

Inside, Achilles, Zayn, Uncle Derek, and Arrow were gathered around the counter. Empty wine and liquor bottles were scattered everywhere like fallen soldiers on a battlefield. Judging by the way Achilles’ tongue was slipping and sliding over his words, Hunter could instantly guess that these guys had been drinking for hours.

The moment Uncle Derek noticed Hunter in the doorway, he slammed his glass down and raised a bottle high in the air.

"Oho! Speak of the devil and the devil appears!" He shouted, his face red from the alcohol.

Hunter frowned playfully, walking over to the fridge to grab a cold beer for himself. "What were you old guys gossiping about this time?"

Uncle Derek snorted and slapped his own thigh. "Hah! I was just saying, if I had known that all that was necessary to get you back home to the Kaelion estate was to kick that awful Sabrina out, I would have thrown her out the front gates many years ago! But first, I would have poisoned her the way she poisoned me!" He narrowed his eyes. "You are not going to take your wretched mother’s side, are you?"
