Beast Bonding System: Cutting Ties In A Post Apocalyptic World.
Chapter 394: Temporary world leader.
Sabrina shrieked like a cicada in summer and lunged at Hunter. "You. Everything is your fault."
Zyra raised her right leg, kicking the woman back. "If you want to die, I don’t mind re-uniting you with your son."
Some people gasped.
Andrea scoffed. "Hunter, what a nice wife you have found for yourself!"
Sabrina rose, pulling her sword from her back. The glare in her eyes promised death to Hunter and Zyra. This grudge between them was the kind that would end in only bloodshed.
"I demand justice." She growled. "When Elliot killed that Cowell kid, you allowed his hand to be cut off, father. I want Hunter’s hand. Both of his hands and his head."
Gasps came from all around them. Even the beasts in the stadium looked shocked.
The grand elder sneered at her. "You’re mad. Or stupid. Elliot stabbed Hunter and Hunter’s wife stabbed Elliot. You don’t want justice, you want revenge and that cannot be granted to you." He shook his head. "Sometimes, I truly wonder if you gave birth to Hunter, or picked him from a dumpster."
Achilles gestured at their men to surround Hunter, in case Sabrina lost her mind and attacked anyway. Perhaps, it was because the cameras were turned on and screens came alive, that Sabrina stopped herself from doing the unthinkable.
They all turned away from her drama and looked out over the stadium at the battered, recovering survivors.
The grand elder’s voice carried across the entire field. "It is a tragic day, and many of us have loved ones to mourn. And mourn, we must, but not right now. This attack must be investigated, security around the world must be tightened. A curfew must be imposed. All the world leaders are dead, unfortunately. If any survived, they cannot be counted on because they were in cahoots with Trinity Johnson. For all we know, she was the brains behind this attack. As of right now, I am taking charge of the Planetary Assembly."
"You can’t do that!" Sabrina screeched immediately, stomping her foot. "Who chose you?! Nobody voted for you!"
"The leaders of all the clans in the world agree that the former leaders of the world have run it into the ground. We need reforms," the Grand Elder replied plainly. "I am that person that is going to bring those reforms. I don’t plan to cling to power, I am just filling a power vacuum temporarily, until order is restored."
"That doesn’t matter!" Sabrina sneered, trying to puff her chest out. "The Soul Maidens haven’t chosen you! Without us you humans are nothing! I was obviously more powerful than Trinity, that fake. Obviously, I am the next Divine Soul maiden and--"
Before she could finish her sentence, Derek stepped up and landed a sound, crisp smack right across Sabrina’s face.
Sabrina stumbled back, holding her cheek in absolute disbelief.
"You and Trinity really are two peas in a pod." Derek said, pointing at her with a shaky finger. "Just stop it. We know that you and Trinity were working together to loot the Somnivore territories beyond the veil. You sold the stolen things to Apex and other companies at exorbitant prices! Alessa discovered everything and she was going to use that information to bury you at the next board meeting."
Sabrina laughed, "With what proof? I doubt she found anything incriminating." She looked at the people, "I have a lot of enemies! Some come from within my family. Alessa clearly joined hands with Trinity and accused me of killing my father who is clearly alive! Whatever she says now is a lie as well."
Bianca whistled as she stepped forward. "I have the evidence of those crimes dear aunt...I have been in hiding because of that. I was afraid for my life." She looked at a camera, "We are tired of the classism and inequality. The more power some classes have the more crimes they commit, and their power makes them untouchable! We want equality. This is not the future our ancestors fought and died for."
"Yes!" Claudia shouted as she looked at Sabrina like a disgrace, "We, as soul maidens support a reshuffle in the organization. We welcome the new, positive changes and we reject you as our leader." She turned, dropped to one knee, and bowed deeply toward Zyra. "It is obvious to all of us who the true Divine Maiden is. Show us another that can command beasts in the way she does, and we will submit to them."
As if on cue, the entire crowd of survivors, soldiers, and clan members dropped to their knees, bowing toward Zyra.
Zyra rubbed the bridge of her nose, letting out a long, exhausted sigh. "Guys, please. Forget about the Divine maiden stuff for five minutes. Let’s just bury the dead first, okay? There is a plague going around. This competition should have been canceled to curb the spread. We don’t need dead bodies hanging around with all these poisons and toxins in the air. Let’s do things one at a time."
The crowd quickly scrambled to their feet, nodding nervously, and began hauling the fallen bodies toward the center of the stadium for a proper cleanup.
The grand elder pointed at Sabrina, "Derek take Sabrina under custody. She is under arrest!"
"Father!" Sabrina shouted as they hauled her away. "What are you doing? I have a grand baby on the way. I am Soul maiden and I can teleport. This is useless and stupid."
The grand elder scoffed, "My dear daughter, I would not be so excited about that baby if I were you. And as for teleportation, try it. I am afraid you will be disappointed."
Sabrina blinked fast as his words sank in, "Father what do you mean by those words? Why shouldn’t I be excited about Elliot’s baby? That is your great grandchild. Elliot’s only surviving blood. Explain yourself to me." She screamed desperately.
But she was hauled away anyway, kicking and screaming.
The crowd was shocked, those that still had their phones began to spread the news that Lita was possibly carrying a bastard child and that Sabrina Kaelion was arrested.
Zyra tapped Hunter’s back, "Are you alright?"
"Relieved mostly," Hunter said. "My mother has not lived an honest life, she always wanted more and this is where it has gotten her. I wish that she had not involved my siblings in it." He looked where Andrea had stood previously. His sister was already gone. She was probably going to hide for a long while to avoid being implicated in the investigations which would follow.
Zyra forced a smile, "You always see the good in everyone, and I like that about you."
"And them?" Hunter pointed at the beasts.
Zyra sighed, "Well they could be useful." She answered and silently spoke. System, move all the beasts into the domain. And make sure you separate the King Beasts from my bonded beasts. I don’t need a gang war happening in the dominion.
[Understood, Host! Initiating transportation and separation protocol!]
Achilles walked up to Zyra, wiping sweat from his forehead. "So, I found
Arrow stepped up beside Achilles, grinning dryly. "She said something about an alien ship and the truth."
Zyra narrowed her eyes, repeating the words slowly. "An_ alien ship?"
"Ha!" The Grand Elder suddenly let out a sharp laugh. "An alien ship! If there is one, it must be in the Sanctum. It could explain why the Sanctum building is the most protected place in the world. The Johnson family must know about this ship. They have been running the Sanctum for decades by filling it with members of their clan." He looked at Zyra and added, "Don’t worry, I’ve already locked down all the Johnsons, and my men have taken over the Sanctum. If there is an alien ship in there, we will find it. And if it’s not there, we can give Trinity more oath sap and force the truth out of her mouth."
