Beast Bonding System: Cutting Ties In A Post Apocalyptic World.
Chapter 315: Sabrina has lost it!
Sabrina paced around her bedroom with all the calm and grace of a caged, desperate beast.
Her three husbands: Nastreus, Antone, and Horas, sat in various corners of the room, staring at her in disbelief. They could barely recognize her. This was a woman who usually wouldn’t let a single strand of hair fall out of place even during a disaster. Classy, pristine, and terrifyingly put-together.
Yet here she was; Dark, heavy circles dragged down her eyes. Her once-impeccable hair was shoved into a chaotic, lopsided bun that looked like a bird had built a nest in it and then abandoned it in anger. Her clothes were wrinkled, her sleeves were crumpled, and her eyes were bloodshot with pure, unadulterated paranoia.
They didn’t want to risk giving her any advise on how she should proceed, going forward for fear that she would turn her anger on them.
A quiet knock echoed at the door.
"Come in," Nastreus grunted, rubbing his temples.
The door creaked open, and Loveline stepped inside, carefully balancing a silver tray in her hands. Steam drifted up from a small porcelain teapot sitting between four porcelain cups.
"I brought some tea for mother," Loveline offered softly, keeping her distance. "It’s a special nerve-calming blend."
Antone rose and reached over, carefully lifting the teapot to pour a cup of tea for Sabrina. He stepped into his wife’s pacing path, holding the small porcelain cup out like a shield.
"Darling, please," Antone pleaded, his voice dripping with gentle concern. "Just sit down for one second and drink this. You need to calm down."
Sabrina stopped dead in her tracks, looked at the cup, and sneered so hard her lip almost reached her nose. She ignored him entirely and resumed her furious pacing, her slippers slapping against the floorboards. "Calm down? You want me to calm down!? Do you not know that if I fall, you go down with me? I want only useful suggestions not foolish urges to calm down."
Loveline fidgeted with the edge of her apron, shrinking slightly under the aura of absolute madness radiating from the room. "Um_ mother__ the tea__it was actually sent over by the Divine Maiden."
Sabrina paused mid-stride. One leg stayed frozen in the air for a second before she slowly set it down.
"Trinity?" Sabrina whispered, her voice dropping an octave.
Loveline’s head bounced up and down like a enthusiastic cork in water. "Yes! Her assistant dropped it at the gate herself."
For two seconds, the room was dead silent. Then, Sabrina threw her head back and let out a laugh so unhinged, so wildly high-pitched, that Horas actually flinched and pulled his legs up onto his chair.
"The Divine fucking Maiden!" Sabrina cackled, clutching her stomach. "Trinity! Oh, Trinity must be absolutely loving this! Look at her, sending me tea. She’s probably sitting in her grand temple right now, watching my misery like it’s a dramatic play!" Her laughter snapped off like a broken branch, replaced by a dark, murderous scowl. "She did this! It has to be her! I bet my left hand that she’s working hand-in-hand with that wretched Alessa!"
In a flash of pure rage, Sabrina snatched the hot cup of tea right out of Antone’s hand and hurled it across the room.
The cup went flying toward the doorway just as the door swung fully open.
The scalding tea and fine porcelain missed Elliot’s nose by a fraction of an inch, smashing violently against the wall behind him. Hot liquid dripping down into a sad, brown puddle.
"Easy, Mother!" Elliot barked, holding his hands up. "You are doing too much! The sharks will start smelling the blood if you continue to scramble."
Loveline used this chance to escape.
Unlike his mother, who looked like she was three minutes away from a violent demonic breakthrough, Elliot was in a fantastically good mood. His chest was puffed out, his eyebrows were perkily raised, and his outfit was spotless.
"What’s got your inner demons so worked up mother? If it’s the ridiculous accusations about how you killed grandpa, I trust that you will clear your name somehow. You are the Sabrina Kaelion. There is nothing in this world you cannot do." Elliot smiled, adjusting his cuffs. "Anyway, I’m heading out to the capital. The Matches start tomorrow, and I for one intend to shine no matter the mess that our clan finds itself in. You should come with me. Show your face so that people know you have nothing to fear or hide."
Sabrina rounded on him, her dark circles practically glowing with rage. "I am not going! Do you hear me? I am not setting foot in that capital where everyone will be gawking and staring at me."
Eliot sighed. "Mother, everyone is going_"
"I will not have those backwater peasants pointing at me!" Sabrina shrieked, waving her arms wildly. "I will not let them whisper behind my back and mock me. Not after Alessa publicly refused to reinstate me as CEO of Apex because I am still a suspect in your grandfather’s suspicious death! She said it in front of reporters. Do you know how much face I lost? All of it! Gone! Poof!" She stomped her foot so hard the tea tray rattled.
Sabrina hissed, her eyes narrowing into tiny slits as she paced again. "That viper keeps throwing fuel onto the fire! She’s orchestrating my ruin!" She suddenly stopped, blinking, and looked around the hallway. "Wait_ why is it so quiet this morning? It has been chaos all day lately."
Elliot rolled his eyes and let out a dramatic sigh. "That’s because Aunt Alessa isn’t even on the estate today, Mother. She left hours ago."
"Left?" Sabrina gasped.
Elliot ignored her sudden breathlessness. He turned toward Nastreus flashing a bright, filial smile. "Anyway, I’m off to the capital. Goodbye, father. Goodbye, mother. Fix this mess so that we can celebrate my victory properly."
He completely skipped Antone, offered a cold shoulder to the air, and then turned his head toward Horas_ Hunter’s father, and loudly sucked his teeth. Elliot cast a sneering, disrespectful glare at Horas, practically oozing smug arrogance, before turning on his heel and sauntering down the corridor like a peacock on parade.
Horas opened his mouth, blinked, and looked at the wall. "Did_ did he just tsk at me?"
"He’s a child, ignore him," Nastreus muttered, though he looked secretly proud of his son’s bad attitude.
Sabrina didn’t care about any of them. She let out a long, frustrated, animalistic growl that echoed off the walls, threw her hands up in the air, and marched straight into her private bathroom, slamming the door so hard the dust fell from the ceiling. "If anyone needs me," her muffled, furious voice barked from behind the thick wood, "I will be scrubbing my skin until I forget all my worries. When I come out, you all better have something useful to say other than clam down."
The three helpless husbands stood in silence. What plan could they come up with? The grand elder was missing, but his people were still active. More than half of the family had already sided with Alessa.
At the moment, given the murder suspicions, their family was not even comfortable on the estate anymore.
