The team went in with a bang. Their explosives didn’t explode with fire; they released a sound so high-pitched and sharp it tore through the air like breaking glass. The cannibals instantly dropped their dinner, clutching their heads in agony as blood dripped from their burst eardrums. A thick, yellowish gas billowed from the canisters, covering their skin. Within seconds, the warriors were screaming, clawing wildly at their arms and faces.

Nero blinked, leaning over to Hunter. "What the hell is inside those tins that makes their skin itch like crazy? I thought it was just normal teargas." He was glad they were wearing full-body tactical armor, or they too would be scratching as if their bodies were covered with ants.

"Spice’s poison mixed with God knows what from Zyra’s stash," Hunter muttered back. "The poison seeps into the body through the skin. It will render the weak one’s unconscious too."

"Move out," Nero barked.

The team charged into the deeper parts of chaotic camp. The noise-bangs and itchy poison continued to dismantle the tribe’s defense. Cannibals were stumbling around blind, deaf, and clawing their own itching skin. When a few women picked up knives and lunged at the team, the squad didn’t hesitate_ bullets tore through the air, taking down anyone holding a weapon.

Tessi was already at the cave, covering the mouth with her energy.

"Guys!" Tessi shouted, her voice trembling. "The beasts inside the cave, they’re way too strong! I can’t hold them much longer. If you are planting explosive inside, now is the time."

Veins pulsed on Tessi’s neck as her wind wall slammed against the cave mouth. Blood began to drip from her nose; her soul energy was draining at a terrifying speed. They had severely underestimated how many corrupted beasts were crammed inside.

"Let it go, Tessi." Nero yelled, rushing over with Taylor. "Let’s fight out in the open. There must be something inside the cave corrupting the beasts and we need to retrieve it."

The second she dropped her hands and collapsed to her knees, the barrier vanished.

A wave of corrupted beasts surged out of the dark cave like a black tide, eyes glowing yellow, fangs dripping with smoky corroding saliva.

"Locking!" Taylor screamed, firing his gun. The gravity energy slammed into the first three beasts, pinning them to the entrance of the cave. Nero fired right beside him, locking down two more, but the beasts were pouring out way too fast!

Suddenly, a bright red ray leaped over their heads.

Red Sun landed on a high rock. It puffed its cheeks up like giant red balloons and opened its mouth wide.

Thick, blazing red energy beams shot from its mouth like high-powered lasers! The light beams sliced through three corrupted wolves in half, instantly exploding two more into ash.

Hunter took out another cannibal and chuckled, genuinely impressed. "Look at that little monkey, so it knows what to do in battle after all." Back at the Valley, all Red Sun ever did was lounge in the pavilion and stuff its face with salted bananas. Who knew the lazy monkey was such an absolute badass in battle?

The Twin Echo Leopards moved like grey blurs, their supersonic roars disorienting any remaining hostile natives trying to flank the team. Inside the grass huts, non-combatant cannibals cowered in sheer horror, peeking through the cracks. This territory had been their safe, untouchable haven for decades_ now it was getting torn apart by a small group of men and their beasts.

Outside, the beast horde only intensified. Corrupted beasts kept charging from the dark cave without end.

"I’m out!" Nero yelled, tossing his empty gravity gun aside with a curse.

"Me too! Out of gravity shots!" Big Vince roared.

"Switch to plasma whips and pulse shards!" Hunter ordered.

Without the lock guns to freeze the enemies, the fight turned into pure chaos. Pulse shards flew through the air, splitting into dozens of sharp pieces that shredded multiple targets at once.

"Tyrant! fusion!" Hunter roared.

Hunter fused with his half-life beast. Glowing tiger stripes burned onto his face, his eyes turning bright. His daggers sparked violently as crackling white lightning wrapped around the blades.

Hunter moved like a predator. He hurled one lightning-infused dagger, and the blade pierced a beast’s skull, sending arcs of electric shock frying through five monsters behind it!

Tyrant slammed his head full force into a pack of evolved lions that had cornered the exhausted Tessi.

The lions snapped their jaws, trying to bite Tyrant’s face, but their teeth just shattered against its body armor. Tyrant roared, smashing them into the dirt like squeaking chew toys. He was bigger and more powerful. His evolution was different from theirs.

A giant corrupted buffalo_ nearly the size of a minivan sneaked up behind Big Vince, opening its massive jaws to crunch his upper body.

"Vince, watch out!" Tessi screamed.

Before it could touch Vince, Hunter blurred across the battlefield. He leaped onto the beast’s snout, grabbed its top and bottom jaws with his gloved hands, and braced his feet against its chest. Hunter grunted, his muscles bulging with wild beast-force.

With a sickening crunch of bone, Hunter literally tore the giant buffalo’s jaws wide open, ripping it all the way down to its chest. Black blood spattered across his face armor as the beast fell to the ground, lifeless.

As Hunter landed adjusting the armor glove around his hand, a smaller corrupted dog lunged from the shadows, its razor-sharp tooth grazing his hand and tearing a tiny scratch on the part where his flesh was exposed.

He raised his boot and stomped down crushing the dog’s head under his boots. A drop of his blood fell to the ground.

Silence suddenly fell over the battlefield.

The heavy roars died down. No more monsters rushed out of the cave. The ground outside its entrance was piled high with the bodies of defeated beasts and dead cannibals, the heavy smell of gun fire and blood hanging in the air.

Hunter dropped his fusion state, wiping sweat and blood off his helmet. He panted heavily, looking around at the team. "Is everyone okay?! Report!"

"Alive!" Nero gasped, leaning against the wall of a wooden house.

"Just out of ammo," Big Vince grunted, holding his bruised shoulder.

"I’m fine too, just tired," Tessi wheezed from the back, Taylor helping her up.

Hunter let out a small breath, then turned his gaze straight toward the pitch-black entrance of the cave. He raised his dagger, his eyes narrowing as he felt a terrifying, heavy aura slowly rising from the depths.

He waited, waiting for whatever corrupted boss monster was lurking inside to finally step out.
