Beast Bonding System: Cutting Ties In A Post Apocalyptic World.
Chapter 256: A jealous husband
Zyra shoved her palm right into Hunter’s face. "Look away!" She nearly slapped his face accidentally, in a hurry. This was no bouncing baby girl; it was a bouncing adult woman with breasts bigger than hers!
"What?!" Hunter gasped, trying to peel her fingers off his nose. "I am not looking; I respectfully averted my eyes already. You need to focus on dressing it and figuring out what it is." He groaned. "Not a Somnivore, I hope."
Zyra’s eyes bulged like a jealous wife catching her husband red-handed as she looked back to see if he was not looking. She grabbed his chin, forcibly turning his head toward the wall. "Averted eyes easily avert back out of curiosity, but a turned head is more trustworthy. You cannot look at naked women, not even naked beasts."
"I don’t know if I should be amused or offended!" Hunter replied, his voice cracking. "I only looked for a second because I was stunned. How does a whole adult human come out of an egg?!"
"I don’t know either, but Beauty will have answers for sure." She replied. Then, without a word of warning, she planted both of her hands on Hunter’s chest and shoved him right out the bedroom door.
"Hey! Wait!" Hunter stumbled backward into the hallway, protesting loudly. "Zyra, that thing could be dangerous! I do not want to leave you alone with it!"
Zyra pouted her lips and spoke. "Do not worry I can take very good care of myself." She slammed the door right in his face and locked it.
Turning back around, Zyra caught her breath_ only to freeze. The strange woman was kneeling on the floor, bowing low. "Greetings, mother master," she said softly.
Suddenly, the woman’s head spun in a complete, silent three-hundred-and-sixty-degree circle, scanning the room like a curious owl.
Zyra gasped, instinctively touching her own throat. If she attempted to do that, she would be buried that very day. How did her neck not twist off?
System, Zyra thought frantically. Is this some kind of robot?!
A screen flickered in her mind.
[The Ravagers were an ancient, advanced beast empire. They had many elite soldiers synthesized from different biological ingredients taken from different planets. These soldiers were used to protect the imperial bloodline.
This was the final egg synthesized by their scientists; it has been dormant for over 4,000 years. Coincidentally, it has a touch of human DNA, hence the human egg reference. Consider her your bodyguard from now on.]
Zyra nodded slowly, her brain trying to process the news. She stepped closer to inspect her new bodyguard. Up close, the female wasn’t entirely human. She had long, pointed ears, a strangely wide mouth, a small cat-like nose, and very black hair trailing down to her ankles. Her toes were oddly short, stubby and webbed. Clearly, she had a touch of beast DNA in her.
"Hmm," Zyra tapped her chin. "What should I call you? Elf? Because of the pointed ears?" She shook her head. "No_ Elfy sounds better."
The woman’s eyes lit up. "Elfy accepts this name. Thank you, mother master."
[Elfy Scorpion_ noted host.]
Zyra blinked. "Beauty please there is no need to add my family name, but I have been meaning to ask how she already speaks our language so fluently?"
[Elfy Scorpion possesses high-tier linguistic perception. She is fluent in human dialects, ancient tongues, and various beast languages.]
"Very Convenient," Zyra muttered. She sighed. First step was to get rid of the slime and then they could think of other things. At least, it was not a human baby in need of protection.
She led Elfy into the washroom, helped her scrub away thousands of years of egg residue, trimmed her chaotic hair into a neat, stylish bob, and handed her a fresh set of clothes including socks.
"Keep those on at all times," Zyra told her. "Don’t show strangers your feet."
When Elfy stepped out, she looked like a beautiful, young eighteen-year-old woman. She bowed again. "Thank you, mother master."
There was another knock on the door, the forty sixth one by Zyra’s count.
"Zyra! Are you okay in there?!" Hunter’s muffled voice bellowed from the hallway. "This is the forty sixth time I’m asking! I am about to break this door down!"
Zyra rolled her eyes and unbolted the door. Hunter immediately burst in, his eyes darting straight to the newly washed creature. One of his blades out and ready for action. Zyra stepped between them, clearing her throat to introduce them.
"Hunter this is Elfy and Elfy this is Hunter my husband."
Before Hunter could even say hello, Elfy crossed her arms and stared him down sharply. She seemed to be as hostile to Hunter as he was to her. "Stay away from my mother," she warned.
Hunter’s jaw dropped. He looked at Zyra, bewildered. "What even is she?! How dare she tell me to stay away from my own wife?"
Zyra crossed her arms, smirking. "She is my loyal protector. Which means, my dear husband that you just got demoted. You’re out of a job."
"Like hell I am!" Hunter snapped, "I am going nowhere! I am your husband, bodyguard and trainer; it is a thing that came out of an egg! We have history, it has sharp ears. I am incomparable, okay. irreplaceable, Zyra, I cannot be replaced."
Zyra covered her mouth with a fist, chuckling softly. "Are you jealous?"
"Yes, I’m jealous!" Hunter shouted shamelessly, glaring at Elfy. "Anyone trying to take my spot in your life is my mortal enemy."
"Too bad," Zyra giggled. "Elfy is staying."
Elfy immediately nodded at Hunter. "Thank you, mother master."
Hunter raised a brow, his face twisting as he opened his mouth to deliver a fiery comeback. But before he could utter another word, a heavy knock rattled the front door.
Bianca’s voice called out from the corridor. "Zyra! Hunter! Achilles is back with Bullet and a few other guys."
Hunter shot Elfy a warning glare, pointing two fingers from his eyes to hers. "This conversation isn’t over Eggfy and my wife is not your mother."
Elfy didn’t even blink. "I will be waiting to finish it, Orrukans."
Hunter gasped, clutching his chest as if mortally wounded. "I should have fried it when I had the chance," he muttered. He also wondered at the same time what Orrukans meant. Was it some kind of insult?
Zyra couldn’t hold back her laughter anymore; she let out a bright chuckle, shook her head at Hunter’s dramatic antics, and opened the door wider, gesturing for Elfy to follow her.
"Come on, you two," Zyra said, with laughter in her voice, "let’s go see what Achilles brought before Hunter explodes."
