Beast Bonding System: Cutting Ties In A Post Apocalyptic World.
Chapter 215: Beasts Unleashed.
The tide was rising fast over the territory turning the jagged ravines into a boiling, murky death trap. Not so far away, giant amphibious sea beasts_ scaled horrors with rows of serrated teeth and glowing eyes_ roared as the black water flowed at full speed taking some of them along.
Normally, hunting these beasts in their home turf was a suicide mission because the humans were at a disadvantage in the sea.
Hunter raised his fist telling everyone to pause. They were still standing on the dry surface ground around the shelter.
"If you need elevation, use your insulated boots." Zyra announced. Apart from walking on ice steadily, the boots from the system could generate a hovering field, allowing minimum flight in the air and lock into place when the wearer needed to brace for impact.
"Target spotted at two o’clock!" Nero’s voice came from the very back. He was already hovering above the ground, his face shadowed by his hood, casually tossing a dagger from hand to hand. "It’s a Three-Headed shark, size of a calf. Looks angry. Probably out for blood."
"Lock it!" Zyra shouted over the roaring water.
Nathan and Armillo swung their lock guns forward and shot multiple times around the creature. The moment the beams made contact, the beast stiffened, its huge body pinned in place as if frozen in concrete. It thrashed and shrieked, but couldn’t move an inch.
"Riffles up!" Armillo yelled, grinning.
Bullets rained down from the team’s disruptor rifles aiming for the gills. The bullets chewed through the beast’s armored scales like hot knives through grease. Before the beast could even register the pain, Malia, who had long activated her boots flew over. Her eyes were wildly bloodshot, her jaw clenched so tight her teeth threatened to crack.
"Die! Die just die already!" she screamed, as she pieced it over and over.
She saw another coming at her, she threw pulse shards with terrifying force. It separated into pieces, some sharp crystals locked onto the beast’s belly and went boom.
Others went after her, because they were worried she would get herself killed. Hunter’s plan was not feasible anymore, so everyone went in. They threw pulse shards at beasts which detonated, and then they relentlessly chased after the beasts.
Malia was the most outstanding, with the electro-pulse gun, she was like a goddess of lightning, frying beasts in water as if she was cooking them for dinner.
"Whoa, easy, tiger!" Koji shouted, as he wiped mud off his nose. "Malia, you need to calm down. You are about to fry us too."
Malia didn’t even hear him. Her breathing was ragged, her hands shaking with pure, unadulterated fury. "Shut up, new guy! Just get to hunting already! Or better yet collect the stones while I do the killing."
"She’s totally out of it today," Taylor muttered, adjusting the strap on his rifle. "We need to keep an eye on her."
"Agreed," Gilby snickered, slapping another ammo clip into his gun.
Zyra was not focused on Malia, because she had a mission of her own. She was on her own killing spree and she had just taken down a suction serpent, a snake like creature with dozens of suction like mouths along its body. It could coil around prey and use those suctions to drain blood until the prey died.
She darted forward, pulling out her spear out of its head and joined Hunter to take down the squid. He was already ripping away its tentacles.
With a sharp flick of her wrist, the spear formed two heads. Zyra jammed the tip directly under the giant squid’s jaw and ripped it in half with practiced ease.
Hunter reached inside and pulled out a big green crystal, the size of three fists. The energy it gave off could be felt by anyone around them. "Resonance stone!"
Zyra reached for it in excitement.
[Ding! Resonance stone collected.] Beauty did not waste time in taking it. The jar filled to almost half with just two stones!
Zyra grinned, feeling a surge of warm energy flow through her veins. It seemed like she was receiving energy from every stone she put in the jar. "Oh yeah. That’s the stuff."
"Beauty took it?" Hunter raised a brow.
Zyra winced. "Mmm."
He nodded. He did not another ask question. The roar of rushing water shattered the air. It rose from the rift and hurled towards their location as if it was being commanded.
"There is something else here." Nero said slowly, darting towards Hunter in the air.
"Watch your footing!" Nathan roared, grabbing Armillo by his collar just as a five-foot wave slammed through the gorge.
"Look out!" Taylor yelled to both of them.
Gilby slipped on the mossy rock he had rested on, his legs sweeping out from under him. He cried out as he fell into the water. "Whoa_ahhh!" The rushing current pulled him toward a swirling vortex where two wide jawed sword fish were waiting, their jaws wide open.
"Fuck! I don’t want to be sword fish snack!" He cursed.
"Gotcha, idiot!" A blur of silver dashed across the water. Bianca flew so fast she almost left shadows of herself in the air. She snagged Gilby by the back of his armor, dragged him onto a ledge, and without missing a beat, leaped straight onto the back of a big sword fish.
With blinding speed, Bianca took out the Riffles and shot both sword fish. She tossed their bodies into the beast pocket before they could sink.
"So cool!" Koji cheered over the Link band. "Ten out of ten!"
"Less talking, more killing!" Bianca snapped, wiping beast blood off her cheek.
Suddenly, a shadow fell over the group. A giant shark-crow mixed like beast the size of a two-story house, erupted from the water. Its claws were thick enough to crush a tank.
Hunter flew forward. He reached behind his back and drew his signature twin blades. The moment his fingers gripped the hilts, his arms tensed up, veins bulging as the blades amplified his physical strength tenfold.
A smaller fish lunged at Hunter from the side, trying to bite his arm off. Hunter didn’t even look. He just kicked it away like a ball.
The kick was like a cannon shot. The fish flew backward, eyes rolled into the back of its head, completely knocked out cold before it even hit the mud.
"Did he just_ kick a monster into a coma?" Koji asked, blinking in disbelief.
"Never provoke him if you do not want to experience that." Nero answered.
Hunter ignored them, his eyes locked on the giant beast. He charged, his blades flashing in twin arcs of silvery light. But the beast was deceptive. It grabbed an Obsidian turtle, a massive creature with a volcanic shell, and threw it at Hunter.
As he dodged it, the giant beast leaped towards him, its leg with large long claws aiming straight for his chest.
Zyra’s eyes widened in fear. If those claws touched him, he would be ripped in half.
