On the drive to the mystic Sanctum, Lita was absolutely furious.

Her father’s harsh words kept ringing in her head like an annoying gong. She gripped her phone so tightly her knuckles turned white. She wanted to call her mother and scream, vent, and condemn her for everything, but somehow, she forced herself to hold back. Now was not the time. Taking a deep breath, she snapped the phone shut for the sixth time.

Sitting in the driver’s seat, Jimmy glanced at her through the rearview mirror. "Hey, take it easy, princess," he said, trying to comfort her with a smooth, casual tone. "You’ll give yourself wrinkles before their time. I wouldn’t want anything ruining that pretty face."

That was the last straw. Lita exploded, turning all her rage directly onto him. "Shut up! Just shut your mouth, Jimmy!" she spat, her eyes flashing with venom. "Don’t you dare think you’re anything special to me just because I let you fuck me! You think a few romps in the hay makes us equals? You’re nothing but a slave at the bottom of the chain! A nobody!"

Jimmy didn’t flinch. In fact, he didn’t even stop smiling. He just raised his eyebrows, turned his eyes back to the road, and started whistling a merry little tune. No matter how vile her words were, nothing was going to ruin his mood today. He was living large lately, and a spoiled rich girl’s temper tantrum wasn’t going to pop his bubble.

Lita crossed her arms and huffed, glaring out the window as the engine hummed toward their destination.

When the car finally pulled up to the dome of the mystic Sanctum, Lita’s entire demeanor shifted. She quickly adjusted her clothes, touched up her makeup in the mirror, and wiped every trace of anger from her face. In its place, she put on a bright, flawless, totally fake smile.

Stepping out of the car, an attendant stepped forward to guide her. "Mrs. Lita Kaelion, allow me to_"

"No need," Lita said sweetly, waving her hand. "I know my way."

She brushed past the guards and walked through the hallways before taking the private elevator straight to Trinity’s private office. As she approached the doors, she noticed the gap. The door wasn’t closed entirely.

Inside, voices were floating out into the corridor. Lita stopped dead in her tracks, perking up her ears to listen.

"We have no choice, Sabrina," Julia’s voice said, sharp and urgent. "We have to evacuate the soul maidens from the island immediately."

"Absolutely not!" Sabrina replied, her tone fiercely against the idea.

"Do you have any idea how much effort it took to gather everything?" "The nearby islands have already been swallowed by the water already!" Julia shot back. "The tides are rising. If we don’t move them now, they will drown!"

Sabrina let out a long, heavy sigh. "Fine_ but it’s going to be a nightmare. Those soul maidens have become rebellious of late. Half of them don’t want to be here anymore, and the moment we open those gates, many will try to escape."

"I’ll put our best men on the job," Julia promised. "Nobody escapes. Anyone that tries is to be shot on the spot."

"Alright," Sabrina grumbled. "Transfer the girls to the mainland branch of the academy in Aurora Dominion. But keep this quiet."

Lita’s instincts suddenly screamed at her_ the conversation is ending! Without making a sound, she took several fast, muffled steps backward, retreating down the hall. She waited a second, smoothed her dress, and then walked back toward the office with loud, clear footsteps, pretending she had just arrived.

She passed Julia in the hallway with a polite nod, totally unbothered, and walked straight up to Trinity’s door. After one firm knock, she pushed the door open and stepped inside.

Trinity sat behind the desk, her sharp eyes locking onto Lita instantly. "What are you doing here?"

"I’ve come to worship and offer my respects, divine," Lita said, bowing gracefully.

Trinity leaned forward, her delicate nose twitching slightly as she sniffed the air around Lita. A moment passed. Trinity nodded in mild satisfaction_ she couldn’t smell the foul, heavy scent of low-born sperm on her today.

Lita mentally smirked. She had taken extreme precautions this time to thoroughly mask any trace of Jimmy.

"I suppose," Trinity said coldly, "that low-born trash you were messing around with is dead now?"

"Yes, divine maiden," Lita lied smoothly without blinking an eye. "He has been_ taken care of." Anyway, she would never sleep with him before seeing Trinity to avoid detection.

"Good." Trinity leaned back. "Waste of breath, the lot of them."

"I am also here to present my offering, but_ " Lita paused, dropping her voice to a whisper. "I have much to report."

Trinity arched a dark eyebrow. "Oh? Speak."

"My mother-in-law is secretly hunting for the supplier who’s dropping new goods onto the black market," Lita revealed. "High-grade resources. Much better quality than anything coming out of Apex Scavenging Industries."

Trinity’s eyes flickered with interest. "Is that so? Go on."

"Also, Derek and she sparred recently," Lita continued, playing her cards carefully. "It ended horribly and the patriach was angry. She’s terrified that the Grand Patriarch will bypass her line and name Derek as the true family heir."

Hearing this, Trinity threw back her head and laughed_ a sharp, cold sound. "Ha! Terrified, is she? Good. That arrogant woman deserves to squirm. How dare she try to challenge my power in this world."

Trinity stood up, walked over to a dark wooden cabinet, and pulled out a small, unlabelled tin spray bottle. She walked back and shoved it into Lita’s hands. "Put this in Derek’s meals," She ordered casually, as if asking her to pass the salt.

Lita frowned, staring down at the cold metal tin. "What_ what is it?"

"You don’t need to know," Trinity snapped, her tone leaving zero room for argument. "Just do it."

Lita’s stomach twisted. Her gut instincts screamed NO! Danger!

But she knew better than to refuse the divine maiden in the Sanctum. Swallowing her fear, she slipped the bottle deep into her bag.

"Just two sprays are enough and another thing," Trinity added, giving her a stern look. "Don’t come to the Sanctum after that, until I send for you."

Lita forced another bright, innocent smile. "Ah, but fourth aunt Grace told me to bring the weekly offering to the temple myself! Since I’m the youngest daughter-in-law, she said it’s my filial duty. I could hardly refuse her, could I?"

Trinity snorted but couldn’t argue with that. She reached into her drawer and slapped a thick brown envelope onto the table.

"Take this," Trinity said. "Use these medicinal ingredients to brew high grade tea for the old Patriarch."

"Yes, Divine maiden," Lita said instantly.

Nodding respectfully, Lita backed out of the room. The second the door clicked shut behind her, she clutched her bag tightly against her ribs, her heart hammering against her chest as she hurried out into the daylight.
