Chapter 1421 - 1386: Blocking the Gate

  • Next Chapter

A person entered the castle, only to be quickly recognized as harboring ill intentions.

The logical assumption would be that this person might merely be engaging in false command transmission or fraudulent intelligence work, unrelated to violence.

After all, an individual against a castle, how could violence be an option?

Even that White Rose Knight earlier was thinking of capturing this person first and then interrogating.

Not to mention murder, he didn’t even believe the person would irrationally resist with violence.

Those who engage in espionage use their brains! Drawing blood and wielding knives are only tasks for lower-level spies.

But in the very next moment, his own blood spurted out of the shaft of the arrow skewered across his neck.

He bewilderedly tried to cover his bleeding neck, but it was futile.

And it was only when the arrow shaft was lodged across his neck that the White Rose Knight finally came to realize one thing—the person before him...he was indeed here for violence!

"Whoosh! Crack!"

The sound of the arrow’s flight was small, but the sharp sound of the arrowhead hitting the stone castle wall and the shaft breaking was not quiet.

The tall longbow in Lann’s hand seemed like a short bow.

After shooting dead the White Rose Knight beside him, he smoothly turned and shot another arrow upwards.

It hit right next to the sentry who had just raised his crossbow, startling the recruit so much that he trembled all over, unable to even nock the crossbow arrow.

"This is a matter between Prince Seward and the White Rose Knight Order!"

Lann immediately learned from his previous mistake, changed the appellation, and declared loudly.

"It has nothing to do with the recruits; your allegiance is to Temeria. Now, remain at your posts! If you move, you’re responsible for the consequences!"

After loudly saying this, Lann ignored the recruit leader who was still shouting in fear, and also disregarded the entire castle that had suddenly become noisy due to the unexpected sounds.

He casually dropped the longbow, walked over to the training weapon rack of the recruits, and pulled out two standard hand-and-a-half swords.

In his broad hands, the two hand-and-a-half swords that were large enough for ordinary people to hold with both hands were merely one-handed swords.

The two rough standard hand-and-a-half swords spun into two beautiful sword flowers in the night.

It had been a long time since he used such cheap and clumsy weapons.

But, since this was a ’tragic’ event where ’rogues pretending to be a prince’s messenger tricked open the castle gates of the Knight Order base and unleashed a massacre,’ using weapons and techniques suitable for his role was necessary.

"In other words, purely using conventional skills and physical prowess to break through them..."

While spinning the sword flowers to familiarize himself with the grip, Lann lowly muttered to himself with great interest.

"Ha, it probably won’t be too difficult either."

Holding just two longswords, Lann arrogantly and unhurriedly walked towards the main tower in the castle.

The sudden outbreak of bloodshed and violence, after a period of shock fermentation, began to spread.

The people in the castle didn’t know yet what had happened, but ultimately everyone had woken up.

For a moment, footsteps began to multiply in the night.

The suddenly awakened people were still drowsy, grumbling, or sneezing and sniffing due to the cold wind as they opened doors.

Those who were suitably tense and disciplined started arming themselves first, regardless of the chaos.

The fire grew stronger as more people awoke, and as the clattering footsteps transformed into the heavy sounds of armor clashing and weapons clinking against each other.

In the chaos, without organization or leadership, Lann didn’t even glance at the recruits.

And when he arrived at the main tower entrance, he happened to see two middle-aged knights coming downstairs while securing their arm guards.

"Who are you?" The leading knight tightened the leather strap and buckle of his arm guard, then drew his long sword as he walked and queried Lann.

However, the Demon Hunter didn’t respond to him with words.

His response was a rapidly flying javelin!

The cheap javelin flew out like an arrow, having been kicked up by Lann from the ground just a second earlier, passing through his hands carrying immense kinetic impact!

A sharp explosion rang out!

The spearhead collided with the large plate armor piece of the knight, producing a metal twist sound that made teeth ache!

The knight uncontrollably fell backward; the spearhead had already pierced through the armor and buried itself in his abdomen.

Normally, if Lann threw a javelin, it would have had almost the same power as a bed crossbow already during the battle on Sodden Mountain two years ago.

Now, he could easily throw it several kilometers away.

Not to mention an ordinary person in ordinary armor, even a proper Flying Dragon from the Flame World could be easily pierced through by a javelin thrown from his hand!

But he was maintaining his ’ordinary person’ physical prowess, after all.

Piercing a Plate Armor Knight with a javelin could barely be considered reasonable, one can only say.

The thunderous opening move had already made his stance clear, and after a brief panic, the second knight immediately drew his sword to face the enemy.

Very solid swordsmanship.

This stable swordsmanship was much better than those who swung swords erratically after obtaining them.

Yet even possessing this swordsmanship, even able to immediately enter combat mode in a sudden situation, even though he was already wearing full armor.

Yet when he approached Lann and slashed out with a sword, he himself was already clear—the outcome was inevitable.

He even preemptively guarded against Lann’s set of ’Magic Cloak.’

To guard against the visual and actual physique differences caused by magic, he raised his hand and aimed first at Lann’s longsword.

He wanted to securely disrupt the enemy’s attack rhythm, so even if there were visual discrepancies, he would have time to adapt and see through.

The idea was beautiful, but reality presented a different picture.

When his longsword struck against Lann’s one-handed hand-and-a-half sword, it felt as if drawn by some whirlpool current.

The blade slid down the hand-and-a-half sword’s body until finally, with a ’snap!’

Crushed under Lann’s appropriately placed foot.

The overwhelming gap in technique made Lann see the muscle movement under the opponent’s armor as if watching a kindergarten child’s puzzle game.

By the time this knight suddenly came to his senses amidst the shocking change...

’Pft!’ sound!

With the advantage of high ground, Lann merely trembled the blade of his left-handed longsword once, stabbing downward from high to low.

Amidst the friction of metal, the sword blade violently rubbed against the knight armor’s neck plate, finally squeezing out a gap from its plate!

The longsword slithered into this gap like a snake! With a downward thrust from the center of the collarbone below the knight’s neck, it plunged all the way into his chest cavity!

Two White Rose Knights were left awake at the entrance of the main tower.

Lann, after entering the tower, threw an alchemy bomb near the entrance without looking back.

[Advanced Demon Dust]

Made primarily from Sheep Horn Demon Feces, this stink bomb is not only suffocating but also causes substantial toxic damage.

In the poorly ventilated tower, it could at least block the entrance for half an hour.

And half an hour for Lann... is more than enough.

"What’s happening? The castle’s gone to chaos! Is no one in charge? Where’s the Captain?"

"No idea! Is there a fire?"

"Wake everyone up! Arm yourselves! No nonsense!"

In the tower, there were shouts and chaotic footsteps, as the knights living there all sprang into action.

But when the higher-ups ran down to see what was happening outside the castle... they ran into someone head-on.

"Push forward! Push!!!"

Dozens of knights crowded into the narrow staircase of the tower.

The faces under their helmets turned crimson like boiled shrimp. Pulses throbbed at their temples, making one think their blood vessels might burst!

No one would doubt these people were exerting force.

They must be strenuously pushing forward, squeezing together, to show such expressions.

But they couldn’t budge.

Despite standing at the higher staircase, pushing downward with the advantage, they still couldn’t move!

Mixing mere body weight with armor and weapons, the dozens must weigh at least several tons! But even with their muscle power, they couldn’t push downward!

All because, in front of these dozens, stood one person.

"You guys look like you’re about to drop dead."

Lann, under his hood, looked at the three knights pressed against him, shields raised.

The staircase in the main tower wasn’t deemed narrow, as three armed knights could walk side by side.

But in this pure power struggle against Lann, these three’s faces have turned purplish-red with pressure.

Clearly, there’s internal bleeding already.

On the battlefield, the most crowded front line can lead to people being squeezed or crushed to death.

The ones behind relentlessly push forward, while the enemy ahead doesn’t yield at all.

The force of those hundreds behind would obviously crush people.

These three are also scared; they had begun to cry out and scream miserably.

But having come this far in the struggle, there’s no room for regret.

So now, blood trickles from their mouths, their eyes hollowed, having lost consciousness.

Their bodies remain merely as tools in the clash of forces on both sides.

With one hand across his chest, Lann pushed with his body against that single hand, preventing dozens of White Rose Knights from advancing downward a single step!

The three knights at the forefront of the struggle, their armor had been squeezed into deformed shapes.

Ribs undoubtedly fractured or compressed.

Bone debris squeezed into the internal organs... Among the bone-crunching sounds, were sounds of skeletal limbs being crushed.

Even the shield-bearing hand, though equipped with wrist armor, had been squeezed into a blunt angle, with crushed internal bones clearly not forming a straight rod anymore.

As for Lann’s previous comment about ’normal human bodily performance’?

—The invading bandits were numerous! Engaged in physical confrontation with the knights, resulting in such battlefield front line marks, isn’t it normal?

Lann also had his say: I aim to leave ’normal human battle marks’; the focus is on the marks. You wouldn’t seriously think I’d lower my physical performance to a regular human level, engaging in technical kills throughout, right?

"Evil witchcraft!"

The White Rose Knights behind continued pushing forward, shouting vehemently with wild anger and contempt.

"The Eternal Fire bless us! We shall cleanse this filth!"

"Blessing, indeed, blessing." Lann held three shields with one hand, physically confronting dozens head-on, yet speaking dismissively. "If it truly blessed you, it should bring down celestial fire to burn me now."

"No doubt, gentlemen, despite the wind, tonight the weather is clear."

Lann, with one hand against the shields, wielded a hand-and-a-half sword with the other, amidst chaotic clanging, unerringly thwarted the disordered, dense attacks.

The frontline shield bearers engaged in body confrontation, while those behind attacked chaotically, which is standard tactics.

But facing the enemy ahead wielding a single sword! Not only deflecting slashes, even deflecting crossbow arrows and arrows shot from higher grounds!

The hand-and-a-half sword swung like a blooming steel flower!

From the White Rose Knights’ perspective, this can’t simply be swordsmanship! It must be witchcraft!
