Chapter 918: Wherever You Are Is Home

  • Next Chapter

The VIP room on the third floor is filled with a strong smell of blood.

The gruesome scene inside shocked the karaoke hall staff; even the bravest couldn’t help but go weak in the knees.

It’s tragic! Absolutely tragic!

It’s a nightmare beyond words!

What makes their hearts tremble even more is that Gu Yujie is dead.

No one knows who killed their boss!

As for Xing Ying, no one paid much attention to her.

People only called her ’Big Sister’ out of respect for their boss who still wanted to play with her; women were seen as expendable by the boss, hardly worth mentioning.

Now with the boss dead, they are in panic.

Some of the smarter, quick-thinking individuals turned and ran upon witnessing this scene.

If not now, then when?

The boss is dead, multiple lives have been lost in the room, and someone called the police; staying would mean getting caught.

The police responding to the report quickly arrived in an official vehicle.

Knowing it was a multiple homicide scene, they dispatched dozens of officers and quickly sealed off the location.

An Mingji didn’t care about the aftermath at the karaoke hall; Allen would handle it.

Seated in the car on his way home, upon hearing that Zou Yanpeng and Yuan Xin went to the hospital but weren’t in danger, An Mingji quietly headed home.

After reaching home, he needed to pass through the front hall to return to the western bedroom.

Crossing the spacious courtyard, An Mingji stopped in front of the hall doors, staring at the tightly shut room entrance.

Just like when he left, he gently pushed the door open, nearly soundlessly entering the room, treading softly.

As soon as he put one foot into the hall, light unexpectedly shone in the dim room.

Standing by the chandelier switch, Gu Jin stared at An Mingji, who’s returning with a chill in the middle of the night, with a faint, ambiguous smile.

She spoke with a teasing tone: "Little An, are you sleepwalking?" The teasing in her words was evident.

An Mingji put his foot down gently, bringing the other foot into the hall.

The boy’s face was calm, nodding in agreement with Gu Jin’s words: "Seems like it."

His voice carried a hint of amusement, with no tension in being caught.

Gu Jin hugged her arms, leaning against the nearby huanghuali wood display cabinet, a beautiful face showing signs of inner conflict.

She rubbed her chin, feeling very troubled: "You’ve been sleepwalking for over two hours, Little An, your condition is serious, you need proper treatment, or else next time if you can’t find your way home while sleepwalking, it’ll be a great loss."

An Mingji chuckled lowly, reached out to take off his coat, and threw it on the wardrobe by the door.

He walked to Gu Jin’s side, gently patting her head with a pleasant, deep voice explaining: "A friend had a situation, went out for a bit, don’t worry, the way home is forever imprinted in my heart."

Wherever you are is home, how can I bear to leave you.

Gu Jin raised her hand, knocking away the boy’s hand.

Her brows furrowed, face filled with disdain: "What’s that smell? It’s awful! Where have you been fooling around?"

To express her distaste, Gu Jin even stepped back a few paces, distancing herself from An Mingji.

Her eyes were like lasers, scanning An Mingji from head to toe.

The revolting, nauseating stench was overpowering, and even a decent mood became subtly affected.

That’s when An Mingji remembered he had been in the karaoke hall, tainted with the scent of the Short Country people and the manufactured puppet air.

Even without physical contact, his body inevitably absorbed that foul stench.

Knowing Gu Jin couldn’t bear the smell, An Mingji immediately retreated a few steps.
