Chapter 2044: Chapter 2046: A Narrow Escape

The sound of the gunshot made Chiang Qing’s body tense up. She saw Qi Taiguo leap forward and instinctively pushed the person in front of her backward.

Ah, ah!

A terrifying scream abruptly arose.

"No!" Cheng Su also dived forward at the fastest speed of her life.

No one paid attention to Chiang Qing who fell on the ground; they all went to rescue Mother Qi who fell like a kite.

Qi Taiguo was fast, but since Cheng Su was already very close, she was even faster. In that critical moment, her outstretched hand randomly grabbed, just managing to catch the shoelace on Mother Qi’s shoe.

Mother Qi was hanging upside down in the air, screaming nonstop as she struggled. Cheng Su lay down at the edge of the rooftop, with only her lower body still on the roof. As Mother Qi struggled, half of her body was being dragged out, and the weight of both of them made her slide continuously.

Accidents happen in a blink of an eye, and Qi Taiguo, in shock and despair, threw himself on top of Cheng Su, successfully stopping her from sliding.

Cheng Su also shouted, "Taiguo..."

Oh God, what is going on!

The weight in her hand gradually loosened; it turned out she was holding Mother Qi’s shoelace along with the shoe, and they were slowly slipping away.

The weight of one shoe, how could it hold a whole person? And Cheng Su was only holding that one shoelace. Once the shoe slipped off, Mother Qi would surely fall, and by then...

If not pureed, she’d be crippled!

"Taiguo, quickly." Cheng Su’s expression changed with fright.

Qi Taiguo leaned out, grabbing Mother Qi’s ankle, but dared not lift her because she was still pressing on Cheng Su. If he let go, with her upper body already hanging out, who knew if she would fall.

"Let go first."

Upon hearing his words, Cheng Su hesitated not even a bit and immediately released the shoelace she was holding. That shoe had already slipped off the heel.

Footsteps quickly approached from behind—it was the police officers.

"Quick, rescue them, everyone, come help."

Someone grabbed their legs and pulled them back, and only then did Qi Taiguo slightly ease the weight off Cheng Su and begin to pull his mother up.

More hands, more strength; in an instant, all three were pulled up.

"Mom!" Qi Taiguo shouted, gently patting Mother Qi’s cheeks.

But Mother Qi was so frightened that she had passed out. Qi Taiguo reached out with trembling hands to check if she was still breathing, gave a small laugh, and sighed in relief. But his gaze fell on her hand, which was wrapped haphazardly, and his expression darkened again.

Cheng Su was also quite scared, glanced back, swallowed hard, and didn’t even notice that her arm, covered in short sleeves, was scraped and bruised, and her face was also scratched. She looked towards Qi Taiguo, and only when she saw him exhale slightly did she feel relieved.

"The ambulance is almost here, we will handle things here. You all go down first." The director managed the situation.

Cheng Su then looked over at Chiang Qing, only to see her lying on the ground with blood flowing out of her head, startling her.

Was she dead?

A bullet wound to the left side of the head, her life uncertain.

"Director, this woman is still breathing." Someone checked Chiang Qing’s pulse.

She’s actually still alive?

Cheng Su and Qi Taiguo exchanged a glance, both extremely shocked.

The sharp sound of the ambulance sirens echoed from downstairs. Without further thought, Qi Taiguo picked up Mother Qi and left, with Cheng Su following.

From this point on, the police would follow up on the situation, and as for whether Chiang Qing lived or died—if she didn’t die now, with a bullet in her head, what would become of her?

Cheng Su didn’t dwell on it; she only knew that it might be better if Chiang Qing died now—at least she would have stability and dignity, for if she survived, she’d either end up in prison or be tormented to death by the Shen Family!
