Zhao Xuran stared at the spot on the front of his clothes, utterly speechless.

Even though they were just home clothes, and the heater was on, Zhao Xuran was still wearing thick loungewear.

Even so, the area around his chest was drenched — Ni Zi must have shed a lot of tears.

These past few days, the girl must have been really scared. Zhao Xuran truly regretted not telling her earlier; maybe if he had, Ni Zi wouldn’t be so worried now.

"Everything will be okay." Zhao Xuran repeatedly patted Gong Ruini’s back.

"I hope so too," Gong Ruini spoke with a sob in her voice; if she could choose, she would certainly hope both children would be fine.

But would everything really turn out as she wished? Gong Ruini couldn’t help but tightly clutch Zhao Xuran’s clothes.

"Nothing will happen." Zhao Xuran hugged Gong Ruini tightly, "Our children will be alright."

Gong Ruini kept nodding, "Yes, yes, like mother said."

She was so emotional earlier that Gong Ruini couldn’t quite remember how Zhan Jing had put it, but it seemed the situation wasn’t too good.

"Don’t keep things from me." Before Zhao Xuran could speak, Gong Ruini interjected.

Gong Ruini had already been kept in the dark once by Zhao Xuran, and she was really worried they’d continue to hide things from her.

Zhao Xuran actually planned to hold back a bit, but hadn’t expected Gong Ruini would say that.

He hesitated, "It’s not good, and Mom’s opinion is quite similar to the doctor’s."

Similar to the doctor’s opinion? What did the doctor say? Gong Ruini was on the verge of a breakdown. Their words were always incomplete, making it seriously hard to understand.

Ah, yes, he seemed to forget to relay the doctor’s initial words to Gong Ruini.

"The doctor’s suggestion is to abandon this child."

Abandon this child... Gong Ruini’s heart tightened, "Abandon, how to abandon?"

Giving up on a fetus could be done through induced abortion, Gong Ruini knew that.

But now, giving up on one of the twins made Gong Ruini unsure what to do.

Should surgery be involved? That would be risky, "I’m not having surgery."

"I absolutely won’t have surgery." Though she wanted to discard the problematic fetus, there was still a healthy one.

What if something went wrong and affected the healthy child? The uterus only had so much space, could the doctor guarantee no issues would arise?

Even if the doctor claimed he would take responsibility, how could he genuinely assume it?

That day, Zhao Xuran was also too flustered to ask the doctor how to handle it. But apart from surgery, could there possibly be other methods?

"Okay, we won’t have surgery." Zhao Xuran promised, recognizing how unstable his wife’s condition truly was.

"We’ll see the doctor tomorrow, then we’ll discuss it with mom." Though they desperately wanted to keep this child, things weren’t as simple as deciding on a whim.

Gong Ruini truly didn’t understand this aspect; with Zhan Jing around now, Gong Ruini hoped for a professional to provide them a proper course of action.

"Alright." Zhao Xuran also hoped to quickly reach a resolution.

Whether the child should be kept or handled, a decision was imperative, "No matter what, Ni Zi, remember, I’m here for you."

"I’ll always be by your side." Zhao Xuran grasped Gong Ruini’s hand firmly.

Gong Ruini now was too frightened to think of much else, "Do you think if we went to the temple to pray now, it’d help?"

"And we should burn incense too." Unable to find aid through medical means, Gong Ruini hoped superstition, as others had talked of, might lend them a hand.

Going to the temple to pray, as well as burning incense? Although they’d occasionally visit temples, they’d never gone with deep sincerity before; it was always just incidental. They’d never done it deliberately.

Now, hearing Gong Ruini’s intentions, it seemed she hoped to make a dedicated trip, "There’s no place to burn incense here."

"I’ll tell dad and mom; I want them to burn incense." Gong Ruini knew she was being extraordinarily capricious.

But if she didn’t do it, Gong Ruini truly felt she couldn’t overcome this hurdle.

Zhao Xuran stared at Gong Ruini for a long time, finally understanding this girl wasn’t lying, then he agreed.

"I’ll call home immediately." If Ni Zi would rest assured by doing this, Zhao Xuran truly didn’t mind making such a call.

If everything turned out okay this time, and the kids were born smoothly, Zhao Xuran vowed to donate a substantial amount of money.

Gong Ruini had regarded Zhao Xuran’s incredulous expression before. She had assumed he wouldn’t agree, but hadn’t anticipated he’d actually comply.

Mind you, Zhao Xuran had previously held sheer disbelief toward such things, "Thank you."

"Why thank me." Zhao Xuran didn’t need Gong Ruini’s polite reply, "They’re my children too."

No one wants bad things to happen to their children, "As long as you’re safe and the children are fine, I’ll donate a significant amount to the temple."

Wow, Gong Ruini was shocked, although Zhao Gang and others believed in this to some extent, they hadn’t contributed much money to the charity box, and Zhao Xuran seemed to hardly have donated any.

"That would mean quite the bleeding," Gong Ruini remarked with a smile.

"It’s okay, your brother here has plenty of money." Zhao Xuran patted his wallet, implying he’s not short on money.

"Besides, you have to give to receive. This time, Guang Ran snatched so much money in Japan, I’ve already been thinking about what we should do." It was the first time Zhao Xuran shared his thoughts with Gong Ruini.

Wow, Gong Ruini was amazed; though snatching money in Japan was akin to a heist, they also ran significant risks rushing in.

Even if Zhao Guangran said it went smoothly in Japan, did it really go smoothly?

If it were truly smooth, Zhao Guangran wouldn’t claim it was exhausting; though there was likely some exaggeration, Gong Jiaming and others admitted that in Japan, Zhao Guangran made it all happen.

They relied on their efforts to capture money, equivalent to personal contributions, thus lacking anxiety or apprehension was typical.

Unexpectedly, Zhao Xuran harbored this thought, "What do you plan to do?"

Gong Ruini had never handled big-scale charity work, but had heard some discussions in her previous life.

Planning how, Zhao Xuran shook his head, "I don’t know."

They don’t need to worry about money; they aren’t in need, they have no shortage of projects. Worries stem from not having projects rather than money.

"Are you worried about attracting attention?" Zhao Xuran considered doing charity work. Though he didn’t know how long he’d pondered, he most certainly couldn’t be completely clueless.

The only explanation for his uncertainty might be this.

Zhao Xuran nodded, "The supermarket opened, and business is booming." Every call from Gong Ruwen was filled with excitement.

This was a cash flow; daily income was all cash. Initially, some might think it was a big investment and would deem the Gong Family foolish, but seeing that thriving business — who’s not envious?

Though now restrained by their family powers and alliances, they wouldn’t blatantly act out, but they’d surely take action when necessary.
