Awakening Elementary School System in University
Chapter 238 - 179: Come and See My Company
Chapter 238: Chapter 179: Come and See My Company
Before long, several figures in formal attire entered through a side door and walked straight toward Chen Lin.
Leading them was none other than the principal of Yannan University, Chang Kai.
Following him were Dean Zhuang of the School of Mathematics, Director Guo Qizhi of the mathematics department, and the deputy director, Professor Gu Ming.
"Haha, Chen Lin, congratulations!" Principal Chang Kai’s hearty laughter preceded him.
He proactively extended his hand to shake Chen Lin’s, then enthusiastically turned to Chen Lin’s parents.
"You two must be Chen Lin’s parents, correct? Welcome! Thank you for raising such an outstanding talent for Yannan University and for our country!"
Lin Xiaoqi and Chen Xian had never experienced such a situation. They were momentarily overwhelmed by the attention, quickly standing up and repeatedly saying, "You’re too kind, Principal."
The leaders didn’t exchange too many pleasantries. After a glance at the time, they walked directly onto the stage.
Dean Zhuang stood before the lectern in the very center.
In the audience, there were only three people: Chen Lin and his parents.
Director Guo Qizhi hadn’t invited the other professors from the mathematics department. After all, Chen Lin hadn’t attended a single proper math class in his two-plus years at the university. He didn’t know the other professors, so inviting them would have just been awkward.
On the stage, Dean Zhuang cleared his throat. With a solemn expression, he announced loudly:
"The personal graduation ceremony for Chen Lin, outstanding graduate of the Yannan University Class of 2025, now begins!"
He began by briefly recapping Chen Lin’s astonishing achievements during his time at the university: from first making a name for himself as a sophomore, to later publishing a paper in JAMS, to assisting in solving the solid-state battery technology bottleneck, and finally, his recent stunning performance at the International Congress of Mathematicians...
Any single one of these accomplishments was far beyond the reach of his peers.
In the audience, Lin Xiaoqi’s heart swelled with emotion as she listened, her eyes turning slightly red. She gripped her husband’s hand tightly, her own palm slick with sweat.
Although Chen Xian remained calm on the surface, the slight tremble in his fingertips betrayed his inner turmoil.
Finally, Dean Zhuang took two red, gold-stamped certificates from a staff member beside him.
He walked off the stage, came before Chen Lin, and solemnly handed him both the graduation certificate and the degree certificate.
"Chen Lin, your academic performance during your time here has been outstanding, and you have completed all required credits."
Dean Zhuang’s voice echoed in the empty auditorium, sounding exceptionally clear and powerful.
"After review and deliberation by the university’s degree committee, we have specially approved your early graduation and hereby confer upon you a Bachelor of Science degree and a graduation certificate for Applied Mathematics from Yannan University."
"May you continue to scale new heights and achieve even greater success in your future academic and professional endeavors!"
Dressed in a brand-new bachelor’s gown, Chen Lin solemnly extended both hands and accepted the two heavy certificates.
He gave a deep bow to Dean Zhuang before him, as well as to Principal Chang Kai, Professor Gu Ming, and Director Guo Qizhi on the stage.
"Thank you, Yannan University, for nurturing me, and thank you to all my teachers for your guidance. I will always remember it!"
While on stage, Chen Lin saw his dad, Chen Xian, holding up his phone with both hands, his posture as steady as a statue. The camera was locked firmly on him, and on his usually unflappable face, the corners of his mouth were turned up in a barely perceptible smile.
His mom, Lin Xiaoqi, was even more dramatic.
She was also holding her phone high, her other hand excitedly gripping her husband’s arm. She looked as if she was about to leap out of her seat.
Her face wore a smile more brilliant than any Chen Lin had ever seen. Her eyes, which usually held a hint of shrewdness, now sparkled with a crystalline light—the glint of tears born from pure joy and pride.
In Chen Lin’s memory, this was the happiest he had ever seen his mother. Period.
The ceremony ended, and Chen Lin walked off the stage to the applause of the leaders.
"Dad, Mom." He walked over to his parents and handed them the two heavy certificates.
"Ooh!" Lin Xiaoqi took the certificates, carefully flipping them open while murmuring in admiration, "This is so great, so beautiful!"
Chen Xian leaned in as well. He didn’t speak, but simply stroked the gold-stamped name "Yannan University" on the certificate’s cover, his eyes filled with an indescribable mix of emotions.
Just then, Principal Chang Kai, Dean Zhuang, and the others came down from the stage.
"Chen Lin’s parents, come, let’s chat a bit more," Principal Chang Kai said with a cheerful smile.
They all sat down again in the front row. Lin Xiaoqi, clearly not yet recovered from her excitement, thanked the leaders profusely.
Principal Chang Kai waved his hand dismissively, a smile of admiration on his face. "You two don’t need to be so polite. It’s our university’s honor to have cultivated a talent like Chen Lin.
Oh, right, I have some more good news for you two. The university’s proposal to specially appoint Chen Lin as a professor in the mathematics department has already been submitted to the Ministry of Education. We expect the process to be completed quickly."
He paused, then dropped an even bigger bombshell. "Not only that, but Academician Liang Tianshi from the National Academy of Sciences has specifically nominated Chen Lin for this year’s ’Ten Thousand Talents Plan’—and for the highest tier, ’Distinguished Talent,’ no less! The university will give Chen Lin its full support!"
’The "Ten Thousand Talents Plan"? "Distinguished Talent"?’
These terms were too distant, too high-level for Chen Xian and Lin Xiaoqi. The couple listened, dumbfounded, their faces blank with confusion.
Although they didn’t understand what these titles specifically meant, just hearing words like "National Academy of Sciences," "Academician," and "highest tier" told them this was something incredibly significant.
Lin Xiaoqi was stunned for a long moment before she snapped out of it. She didn’t understand it, so she decided not to dwell on it. Instead, she turned to her son and said in an exceptionally solemn tone, "Chen Lin, did you hear that? You must listen to the leaders and work hard. Don’t let down the expectations of the country and the university!"
Chen Xian nodded vigorously beside her in agreement.
Seeing his parents’ reaction, Chen Lin found it both funny and exasperating, but he still answered earnestly, "I know, Mom. Don’t worry."
After chatting with the leaders for a while longer, seeing that it was getting late, Chen Lin’s family stood up to leave.
After seeing Principal Chang Kai and his group off, Chen Lin looked at his still-excited parents and suggested with a smile, "Dad, Mom, since you made the trip all the way here, do you want to go see my company?"
"Company? Yes, yes! We have to go!" Lin Xiaoqi’s spirits soared. "I have to see what my son’s workplace looks like now that he’s a boss!"
Chen Lin smiled and led his parents toward the Innovation Space Building, located on a remote edge of the campus.
The Yanhai Company office was on the second floor of the Innovation Space Building.
Chen Lin had already given a heads-up in the company group chat yesterday, saying his parents would be visiting today.
So, the moment Chen Lin used his key to open the office’s glass door, the scene inside left Chen Xian and Lin Xiaoqi stunned once again.
The office was large, around five hundred square meters, and decorated in a simple yet elegant style. Sunlight poured in through massive floor-to-ceiling windows, making the entire space feel bright and airy.
Yesterday, Chen Lin had only asked his small team to tidy up their desks a bit so it wouldn’t be too messy.
After all, Yunqing spent every Saturday morning giving the entire office a thorough cleaning.
