Chapter 236 - 177: Valuation Skyrockets

Chapter 236: Chapter 177: Valuation Skyrockets

Chen Lin began typing a reply.

Chen Lin: [Mom, I just woke up and saw your message. To put it simply, this whole thing is about the key research results from my recent work. I gave a presentation at the International Congress of Mathematicians, derived a new algorithm on the spot, and it was pretty well-received.]

Less than ten seconds after he sent the message, a reply came from his mom, Lin Xiaoqi.

Lin Xiaoqi: [You’re up? Have you eaten yet?]

Chen Lin: [Not yet. I’m about to go out and get something.]

Lin Xiaoqi: [Okay, go eat first. After you’re done, you can tell me what this algorithm of yours actually does. Everyone online is saying you’ve made another huge contribution.]

Chen Lin thought for a moment and decided to explain it in the simplest terms possible.

Chen Lin: [You know how those big AI models sometimes spout nonsense with a straight face, just making stuff up? The algorithm I derived will help AIs make fewer of those mistakes in the future and become more reliable.]

Lin Xiaoqi: [Oh, oh, oh! So it just makes the AI smarter?]

Chen Lin: [....Something like that, I guess.]

Chen Lin didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at his mom’s rather down-to-earth interpretation.

But it was true. For an ordinary person with no tech background, it wasn’t a bad way to understand it.

Just then, Lin Xiaoqi sent another message.

[Lin Xiaoqi: So, does this mean you’re up for an award? I saw a lot of people online saying you’re going to win something called the Fields Medal?]

Seeing this message, Chen Lin subconsciously thought of the "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" that Academician Liang had mentioned last night.

However, whether it was the Fields Medal or the Ten Thousand Talents Plan, nothing was set in stone yet.

If he didn’t end up getting selected, his parents would definitely be disappointed.

So, after some thought, Chen Lin decided to be more conservative.

[Chen Lin: Mom, that’s just netizens guessing randomly, it’s not necessarily accurate. Things like awards depend on a lot of factors. It’s not like you’re guaranteed to win just because you achieved something. You don’t need to worry about it. We’ll just let nature take its course.]

[Lin Xiaoqi: Fine, fine. Anyway, award or no award, you’ll always be the best in my heart!]

Reading his mom’s slightly sappy message, a wave of warmth spread through Chen Lin’s heart.

Lin Xiaoqi usually had a sharp tongue but a soft heart, but when it mattered, her love and support for her son were always unconditional.

Just then, his dad, Chen Xian, sent a message.

As usual, he was a man of few words.

[Chen Xian: Take care of yourself.]

[Chen Lin: I know, Dad. I will.]

As soon as Chen Lin replied, his mom started messaging again.

[Lin Xiaoqi: By the way, son, since you’re so famous online this time, shouldn’t the university be giving you a bonus?]

Chen Lin’s eyes lit up when he saw this message.

This was the opportunity he had been waiting for!

He thought for a few seconds, then typed quickly.

Chen Lin: [The algorithm I came up with this time is considered a major scientific discovery, so the country will give me a huge cash prize. Once I get it, I’ll transfer it directly to the family’s card. You two can buy whatever you want.]

It wasn’t a complete lie.

Even if there was no reward at the national level, knowing Principal Chang Kai’s personality, Yannan University would definitely give him a generous bonus.

Chen Lin just wanted to use this as a legitimate excuse to give his own money to his parents.

Because just last night, around midnight, his [Little Financial Planner] title had brought him another huge sum of money.

Thanks to his stunning performance at the mathematics conference, the system saw even greater potential in Yanhai Consulting, and the company’s valuation underwent a terrifying surge.

At midnight last night, during the month-end settlement, the company’s valuation had reached a staggering 250 million RMB!

Based on Chen Lin’s 46% stake in the company, plus the over 10 million in his personal account, his personal net worth was calculated at 116 million.

According to the rule of a 20% monthly net worth increase, Chen Lin instantly settled a whopping 23 million in income!

And that wasn’t all.

When he woke up this morning and subconsciously checked the system panel again, he discovered the company’s valuation had already shot up to 300 million!

Along with that, the number in his personal bank account had also surpassed 34 million.

His personal net worth had already reached a terrifying 172 million!

Sure enough, as soon as Chen Lin sent the message, his parents replied with their usual lines.

Lin Xiaoqi: [Absolutely not! You have a company to run and plenty of expenses. Keep the money for yourself! Your father and I have our pensions, we don’t need money!]

Chen Xian: [Your mother is right.]

Chen Lin looked at the messages in the group, smiled, and didn’t reply again.

He knew that even though his parents sounded firm, they were happier than anyone that their son was successful and earning money to give to them.

He made up his mind. In a couple of days, he would transfer a million directly to his dad’s bank card, and then they could spend it however they wanted.

Leaving the small three-person group, Chen Lin skillfully opened another group chat with only five members.

[Yanhai Startup Squad]

There were already over a dozen unread messages inside. The most eye-catching were a few screenshots and links sent by Sun Yu first thing in the morning.

The screenshots showed the grand spectacle of Chen Lin landing the number one spot on the trending lists of major platforms.

Sun Yu: [HOLY SHIT! President Chen, you’re a beast! You’re trending again! I saw the video last night and had a feeling it would blow up today, but I didn’t think it would blow up this completely!]

Sun Yu: [[Video Link] Check out this fan-made edit, it’s totally hype! Even as a layman, it gets my blood pumping!]

Sun Yu: [President Chen, you’re the idol of every math major graduate now! In the future, when I tell people I work for you, it’ll be such an honor!]

This string of rainbow farts almost made Chen Lin laugh.

That kid Sun Yu had gone from a slick, slightly anxious newbie at the design institute to a fully evolved, qualifying corporate bootlicker.

Following Sun Yu’s messages was one from Huang Yiyi.

Huang Yiyi: [Congratulations, President Chen! Your performance at the International Congress of Mathematicians is undoubtedly our company’s most successful brand promotion to date!]

Huang Yiyi: [This is perfect. We just recently raised our basic project quote from one million to five million, and I was worried we might lose some potential clients because of it.]

[It seems that worry was completely unnecessary. Your performance this time is the strongest possible proof of our company’s technical prowess!]

Reading the words from Huang Yiyi, his Presidential Executive Assistant and Director of Legal Affairs, Chen Lin nodded to himself in approval.

’As expected of someone from a domestic giant like Tiansheng Group,’ he thought. ’She can always accurately find the most advantageous angle for the company in any situation.’

Yunqing’s message followed close behind.

Yunqing: [Not bad, Boss. Cooked up another new algorithm? Congrats, congrats! [Confetti.jpg]]

Yunqing: [But just saying congrats isn’t enough. You made such a huge splash this time, you have to treat us!]

Seeing this, Chen Lin smiled and typed a reply.

Chen Lin: [Let’s skip the treat. I just got back from the Imperial Capital and I’m pretty tired. I want to rest at home for a couple of days.]

After saying that, he skillfully opened the red envelope function, entered an amount, and sent it.

[Chen Lin sent a red envelope to the group chat]

[Wishing you prosperity and good fortune]

The group went quiet for a moment, then three people claimed the red envelope almost simultaneously.

Sun Yu: [!!! Thank you, President Chen! You’re so generous!]

Huang Yiyi: [Thank you, President Chen.]

Yunqing: [Thanks, Boss! So generous!]

Even Shen Yan, who had been lurking without saying anything, surfaced to claim a red envelope and sent Chen Lin a "thank you."
