Awakening Elementary School System in University
Chapter 231 - 174: So Intense
Chapter 231: Chapter 174: So Intense
However, that didn’t stop him from getting swept up in the video’s atmosphere.
The moment the young man in the video wrote the final symbol and turned to face the audience, the entire venue first fell into a strange silence. This was immediately followed by a tsunami of applause and cheers!
The camera cut to several white-haired old professors, their faces flushed with excitement as they clapped furiously.
Another shot showed the large screens on either side of the hall, which displayed a list of online conference attendees. Even Jason, who wasn’t a math major, recognized several of the names.
"Holy shit..."
Jason couldn’t help but mutter in amazement.
He couldn’t understand the mathematical formulas, but he could understand the expressions on the faces of the people there. It was a look of genuine shock and admiration.
After watching the video, Jason was silent for a few seconds before immediately opening the comment section.
Pinned at the top of the video’s comment section was a short bio:
[Presenter: Chen Lin, 20, from Huaxia’s Yannan University]
[Accomplishment: Derived a new algorithm on the spot that can significantly reduce the hallucination rate in large AI models]
[Accolades: Received high praise on-site from multiple Fields Medal and Abel Prize laureates]
Jason scrolled down and, as expected, the comments had completely blown up.
[Holy shit! Is this for real? 20 years old? When I was 20, I was still stressing about failing Calculus!]
[I’m a math PhD, and I can tell you responsibly, if this result is real, it’s absolutely worthy of a Fields Medal!]
[Another Huaxia person? Why are they always such freaks at math?]
[To the commenter above, I suggest you look up the members of this year’s Beautiful Country Math Olympiad national team. Judging by their skin color and names, at least half are of Chinese descent. Huaxia People have a gift for math, that’s a fact.]
[Gift, my ass! The Huaxia students I’ve seen at school are all nerds who only know how to study and refuse to socialize! They can’t do anything but take tests!]
This comment immediately drew a ton of rebuttals.
[Wake up, buddy. That’s a ten-year-old stereotype. Huaxia isn’t the same as it used to be.]
[Exactly! Professor Figali even said in the video that everyone should engage in more exchange and cooperation with universities in Huaxia. He’s a Fields Medal winner, he knows better than you.]
[I strongly suggest the commenter above go on YouTube and watch some of the travel vlogs that creators have filmed in Huaxia. See for yourself how fast Huaxia is developing. You need to update your worldview.]
[I went to Shanghai and Shenzhen last summer vacation. Honestly, they’re way more modern than New York and Los Angeles... The subways are new and clean, there are skyscrapers everywhere, and the sense of technology is off the charts.]
Jason scrolled through the comments, finding them more and more interesting.
Just then, he noticed a highly-liked comment:
[Everyone, the point isn’t whether Huaxia People are amazing or not. The point is, if this algorithm can really reduce the AI hallucination rate so drastically, what does that mean for the entire artificial intelligence industry? Companies like CloseAI, Doggie, and Meta are probably freaking out right now, right? Hahahaha!]
Someone immediately replied to this comment:
[For real. A friend of mine does AI R&D at Doggie. Last night he was wailing on his Friends Circle, saying that a topic their team had been researching for over a year was just solved overnight by a Huaxia undergrad. He’s questioning his life choices now...]
[Same here, +1. After my advisor watched the video this morning, he sent a message directly to our lab’s group chat: "All hands meeting tomorrow 9am. Topic: Pivot research direction."]
[LMAO, I can just picture countless PhD students trembling in fear...]
Jason couldn’t help but laugh out loud when he read this.
He scrolled down a bit more and found that besides the original video, several remixed versions had appeared on TikTok.
One of them was titled, [When Mathematicians Pass the Torch, a New Successor Emerges].
Curious, Jason clicked on it.
The video began with a voiceover of Professor Deligne’s speech:
"This is the legacy passed down between each generation of mathematicians. We continually solve old problems, only for new ones to appear, left for the next generation of younger mathematicians to solve. And now, you too have joined this grand process."
Along with this powerful narration, the screen began to show one great mathematician after another from history, in chronological order.
Euclid, *Elements of Geometry*.
Descartes, Analytic Geometry.
Newton and Leibniz, Calculus.
Euler, Graph Theory and Topology.
Gauss, Number Theory and Non-Euclidean Geometry.
Riemann, Riemann Geometry and the Riemann Hypothesis.
Hilbert, Hilbert’s 23 Problems.
As each name appeared, their portrait or photograph would flash on screen, along with their most important achievements.
As the timeline advanced, the video moved to the modern era.
Terence Tao, 2006 Fields Medal laureate.
Perelman, proved the Poincaré Conjecture.
Schultz, 2018 Fields Medal laureate.
Then, the background music suddenly grew more intense.
The scene switched to Chen Lin standing before the whiteboard, writing furiously.
Lines of formulas appeared rapidly on the whiteboard.
The camera kept cutting between Chen Lin’s focused profile, the stunned faces of the audience below, and the six whiteboards completely filled with formulas...
Finally, it froze on the moment Chen Lin wrote the last symbol, turned to face the entire audience, and took a deep bow.
The BGM reached its climax at that exact instant!
The whole video was edited to be absolutely epic!
After watching, Jason was covered in goosebumps.
