Awakened As A Calamity
Chapter 44: Calamity Of Destruction
Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Calamity Of Destruction
Destruction.
The most feared, most revered calamity of them all. One of the ten fundamental destructions of mankind. The very calamity that set fear into the heart of Fahai and every single Virtue out there. The news of him being seen is tremendous news, containing both good and bad.
Amidst a crowded place in the Fei Capital, there stood a child. Hair so red it looked like crimson, short and hooded. The mere child who seemed to be only twelve to fifteen had a radiating and frightening aura, despite his attempt to suppress it.
He was slowly walking among the crowd when he looked up at an impossible angle, toward a high-story building. At the very top was a calamity with a huge purple eye. More monster than man. But when that calamity’s eyes met the boy’s, his body began shaking with fear.
"He... he saw me!!"
The calamity turned and started sprinting away from the rooftop as if his life depended on it.
"He saw me..." murmured the hooded boy. His face was still cool and unreadable.
Then, in the crowd, with a puff of red mist, the hooded boy disappeared.
He appeared right before the fleeing demon calamity. When the calamity saw the boy, he immediately bowed down and began begging for mercy.
Such is the power of Destruction. Even the very System fears it.
"You have exposed my hiding, demon calamity," said the boy, his gaze feeling like flames itself.
"Am sorry, Master Randal... I was f-"
"Who sent you?" asked the boy named Randal.
"Lady Layla of the North," bowed the demon, his head still sweating profusely.
"Times have truly changed. Good Deeders are now controlling calamities... what an utter shame!" It was like those words could shrink a person, because that’s what the demon calamity did — he visibly shrank with fear.
"Die."
Suddenly the calamity demon was sliced into two. It happened so fast, he couldn’t even react to it. A perfect slice in half from head downwards.
"Layla owns the north, right?" murmured Randal as he turned and began casually walking away. "But that brat is merely a child."

Finally, the scene shows Morgan.
He was now enrolled as a member of the Calamity Scepter under Vandal. He was given a new outfit, dark with a touch of red. Looking at himself in the mirror, Morgan did not notice how far he had actually come.
Jude... mom, Daredevil, Eleven... all of you guys, I will avenge you, thought Morgan as he looked at himself in the mirror.
Now that I think about it, my... testicles are still here and I thought the System took them... or was my first bargain a System glitch?
He slowly began sliding his hands into his trousers when Beare burst through the door.
"Little — AHHHHH what the fuck!!!" screamed Beare.
"Ahh, it’s not what you actually think..." Morgan hurriedly began explaining, which only made him start stammering.
"I don’t care what you do. Let’s get ready, we’re about to be assigned our first mission finally so you stop jerking off here."
"I told you Beare it’s not what you think I swear it..."
"I don’t really care, now head out and oh — I thought you told me you sold your prick?"
"That was what I was checking. I could swear to God I actually sold it, so how is it still here? And no, it’s not the prick, it’s the testicles."
Now Beare actually came in, her face turned serious.
"So you are not planning on having kids when all this is over?"
"Will all this ever be over for me?" said Morgan with a wry smile. "If what Vandal said is true then these Virtues will not stop coming."
"Then we kill them before they kill us. Listen, I’ve had a fair share of this life." Morgan turned and glared at her, but Beare had already locked in so he didn’t throw her off. "One thing I know is to become strong. Once strong even the System will bow to you. No one will ever hate on you just for living."
And suddenly Beare was indeed serious, her eyes seemed so focused. Morgan now realized that they hadn’t stayed long, but they had bonded well with Beare. She and Luke are the only ones who are now like his family.
"Then we become stronger together, Beare Boshaft," said Morgan genuinely.
Beare turned and smiled at him. "Let’s show every calamity, every freaking Virtue that we are fucking SURVIVORS."
"Yeah, we alone will show them we really are calamities!"
"This moment calls for a celebration," said Beare as she started digging through her purse.
Morgan began chuckling. "Celebration for what exactly?"
"For our new resolve duh? I could just swear I have a bottle of ale in here somewhere..."
"You... carry ale with you on a mission...?"
"Hey," said Beare as she looked up at him. "Don’t judge me. Bears and ales are where I find my utmost comfort heheh."
She removed the bottle of ale from her side purse, then said, "Cheers to us being the strongest in this world."
"To our journey," smiled Morgan.
Then Luke came in.
"Oh Luke —"
"We head out in five minutes," said Luke. "And we have the stone statue of the three."
Retorted Beare, "Here, have my personal beer."
"I’d rather die," hissed Luke, but he didn’t leave. Instead he leaned on the doorway and said, "Hurry it up."
Beare stood up with the beers in her hand. "Let’s head out... I better be doing this mission while taking my beers, it’s lovely and—"
"It’s the reason it’ll get you killed, Beare."
"I bet you’ll die first," retorted Beare.
"Ahhh... Let’s head out please you guys and stop arguing," chimed in Morgan.
"For once we agree with you," both answered in unison and they headed out.
When they left their apartment, outside Vandal was already waiting for them. With an old black cape at his back, with a mature look on his face, he smiled.
"The uniform fits you well."
"Yeah..."
"I’m glad. Now, you are a calamity, there’s no hiding that, and with your help we’ll take the Fei Capital. Calamities will stop living their lives under oppression, cruelty, and mistreatment," said Vandal. "Liues Morgan, we are sending you back to the very capital you were chased from, the very capital your mom was killed in. The very capital that destroyed your life, but not as that weak frail boy. We will be sending you as —"
"A CALAMITY," said Morgan.
Somewhere deep down, he wanted to hear this. He NEEDED to hear this. To rekindle his purpose and drive, his mission.
And now, he slowly turned to Beare who was standing in a straight salute position, her eyes fixed on Vandal. It felt like her soul was feeding on every word. And then he turned to his left. Quiet, calm, calculative and reserved, Luke stood there as well, that blindfold never leaving his eyes and by now Morgan was quite used to it.
Then in that moment, he smiled. A genuine, heartfelt smile he never had in five years.
"Let’s head out," said Morgan as all of them began walking out after the speech was done.
