Chapter 33: THE POWER OF BAILON*
Nene and Falco were standing calmly in the shadows. Waiting.
But then suddenly—
They began sweating profusely. A fear so great grabbed both of them.
"This feeling..." said Nene. The kind of pressure was so great. It could only mean one thing.
"We need to get out of here... Now!"
Falco jumped effortlessly into the sky. Nene followed him.
Both of them wanted to reach the Barrier.
Inside the barrier, the outside world was completely disconnected.
So Guner didn’t feel the coming of Bailon.
A hand from the sky suddenly appeared.
It resembled that of a Buddha.
Huge. Made of pure golden energy.
The people in the area were both shocked and afraid.
The hand descended on the barrier and—
*BOOM!!*
It crushed the barrier so effortlessly. Dust and purple shards rained down.
Nene and Falco were both speechless.
"Is this... his Fifth Wave?" Asked Falco, still looking up at the hand.
"I do not believe he’d use his Fifth Wave on my barrier..."
"How could an attack that’s not a Fifth Wave have such... power?"
When Guner saw the barrier crushed, he instantly frowned.
He let go of Tabitha and leaped away.
The hand slowly descended and gently scooped Tabitha into its palm. Light wrapped around her, stopping the bleeding.
Guner, Falco, Nene.
All three of them looked up at the sky. And there he was.
Bailon. In all his glory.
Still in that monk-yellow robe. Head shaved completely. Hands closed in a prayer position.
The entire street felt... small.
Compared to how great and powerful Bailon was.
But even amidst all that, five powerful presences stood out.
Reddish-dark energy, emitted by none other than Agness.
Even though the pressure was strong, it didn’t wane on Agness that much. In fact, her aura was fighting Bailon’s.
Then we have Angel. Even though he was completely weak and frail, it didn’t diminish his presence. While Bailon’s energy was gold-orange, Angel’s was pure. Radiating. And weak, almost at the verge of death.
Then, the undisputed trio.
Nene, emitting a purple-like aura.
Falco, though he looked like someone who was only 12 years old, was emitting a frightening aura that surpassed Nene’s.
But of all of them, Guner was not pressured at all.
He instead smirked and looked up at Bailon.
"You don’t even see us as threats, huh!?"
Shouted Guner at Bailon.
But Bailon still did not shift his gaze to look at them. Somehow, that aggravated Guner even more.
"CALAMITY FOURTH WAVE!!!"
His gun appeared and warped into something different. Into a cannon. Except this was far stronger than anything related to a gun.
"EMBLEM ERASURE!!"
He pointed the gun and fired it right at Bailon.
The laser shot with such incredible power that the entire area turned red. The air screamed.
Falco didn’t waste a second. He smiled and swung his axe.
"CALAMITY FOURTH WAVE: AXENTONIA"
His axe radiated with immense, grinding force.
When the red laser shot at Bailon, reality itself warped from the power.
Bailon opened his palm. Eyes still closed.
*BIUUUUUUU!!!!!!!*
The attack that seemed like it could destroy anything split in two. Like Moses parting the Red Sea. A shockwave flattened cars.
"What the fuck!!" Shouted Guner. He was enraged even more now.
"You... FUCKING DARE UNDERESTIMATING ME!!!!"
*BIUUU!!!*
The strength of the attack increased so much that the shooter himself was being pushed back, feet carving trenches in the concrete.
But that didn’t even make Bailon flinch.
Falco smiled. He spun and threw his axe at Bailon. Bailon’s left hand was occupied blocking the laser, so the axe targeted his left side.
*DONG!!!*
The axe completely stopped when Bailon opened his other palm and caught it mid-air. Casually.
This. This was the display of power by Bailon. He hadn’t even used his Waves yet, and his strength already rivaled those who had unlocked their Fifth Wave.
Angel, who was at the brink of death, just watched Bailon shine with power.
_How... how is it, no matter how hard I try to reach you... you just remind me of the power gap between you and I._
Agness carried him on her back and jumped away.
"My... my wife and kid..."
"They’re fine, Angel," said Agness. "Bailon himself is protecting them."
_Himself._
Thought Angel with a wry smile.
Bailon had long transcended the threshold of mankind.
Falco, still maintaining that calm smile, vanished. Then appeared right beside Bailon.
He swung his axe again.
"You really are something else, huh?"
Said Falco. He swung his axe repeatedly, without reprieve.
But what was surprising—
He couldn’t land a single hit.
All that swinging and clashing, and Bailon was blocking it casually with his hands. As if Falco was really just a kid.
Suddenly though. Bailon opened his eyes.
Falco felt such fear that he could swear it was tangible.
He instantly flew backward and landed beside Guner, who by now was digging a trench with his legs from the recoil.
"We need... to leave, Boss."
"Not yet," gritted Guner.
"But Boss—"
"All Calamities must die." Said Bailon. His tone was absolute. As if it was meant to be.
After saying that, with only one hand, Bailon pushed away the attack Guner was giving his all to.
Then he turned his hands to a prayer position and began chanting words. The air hummed.
"BOSS. NOW!!" Shouted Falco.
Guner also now realized he could never beat Bailon. Certainly not here.
"Tch." Said Guner, before turning his face away from Bailon and flying away.
