Atticus’s Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground

Chapter 1421 Worth It

Chapter 1421  Worth It

“Long night?”

At the question, Atticus glared at Whisker.

“Why are you staring at me like that, my star actor?” He raised his arms with an amused smile. “I’m not the one who wrecked someone’s heart.”

“You were watching.”

Whisker chuckled. “You’re my main source of entertainment. I’m always watching.”

Atticus released a deep sigh, allowing the matter to pass. They both hovered high in the sky, just above the ongoing party on the hill.

After spending a while being comforted by Anastasia, Atticus had excused himself to confront this snoop in the sky. He had noticed Whisker’s presence since before he even met with Zoey.

“How did you even know I was going to talk to her?”

“Ah, please.” Whisker waved his arms, “I can smell drama coming from a mile away. After your little stunt at the Willless World, I knew your love life would take a hit.”

“What stunt?”

“You know… thinking with your dick and following some stranger to her world. I swear, even monks on a thousand year vow of chastity aren’t as desperate as you were.”

Atticus scowled. “You’re exaggerating.”

“Am I?” Whisker asked, “am I, my star actor?”

“…You are.”

Atticus suddenly turned towards a certain direction, frowning.

“I know you’re there. You can come out now.”

Silence. No answer came.

“Should I tell you the sort of people that result in doing this? Cowards—”

Suddenly, a burst of light flared, and from its depths, Ozeroth materialized.

“Ah, Bond. Such a detached night we have.”

Atticus looked at Ozeroth with a deadpan stare.

“I knew you were also watching. Stop pretending.”

“The great Ozeroth does not pretend,” Ozeroth cleared his throat, glaring at Whisker, “unlike others.”

“Says the one who was literally hiding seconds ago.” Whisker chuckled.

“I was not hiding!”

“You were.” Atticus said, “don’t forget, we’re bonded. I can read your mind.”

As Whisker burst into laughter, Ozeroth turned away with an awkward cough.

“Well, the great Ozeroth had a good reason.”

“Oh yeah?” Whisker wiped a tear from the corner of his eye. “What reason?”

“I was just trying to make sure Bond was alright!”

“Oh please,” Whisker rolled his eyes, “the man’s a walking weapon of mass destruction. What trouble could possibly come from breaking a woman’s heart?”

“But I was right!” Ozeroth shot back. “Bond was crying!”

Both turned towards Atticus at that moment, who released a small cough in embarrassment.

“It was the rain.”

“Of course,” Whisker said, placing a hand over his mouth to stifle another laugh. “It was absolutely the rain.”

But Ozeroth had always been more direct. “Don’t be embarrassed, Bond. It takes a real man to cry over something he loves.”

“Like you cried over your failed harem?” Whisker fired back immediately.

“It’s not failed!” Ozeroth’s face darkened. “I’m currently in the recruitment stage.”

“For months…” Whisker chuckled. “Then what do you call a harem with zero women?”

“It’s not zero! There’s that one woman wh—”

“You mean the one who runs every time you’re around?”

“She doesn’t run! She just likes to… train.”

Atticus shook his head. “I’ve been gone for three months. You still haven’t formed your harem?”

“At this point,” Whisker muttered, “I think it’s impossible.”

Atticus nodded solemnly.

“You’re one to talk!” Ozeroth snapped. “You were crying over a woman!”

The three stared at each other in silence for a moment, then burst into laughter.

Then soon stopped after a moment. Atticus glanced at them both.

“Thank you.”

It was obvious, they had done all this to cheer him up.

Ozeroth shrugged, trying to look indifferent, but the smug smile on his face made that impossible. Whisker instead waved with a smile.

“So, how was the world during my absence?”

“As you would expect, boring!” Whisker released a deep sigh. “So you’ll have to ask the newly married man about the details.”

“No riots, or outside attacks?”

“None worth mentioning.”

“What about the Eldorians’ training? Any progress?”

Whisker flashed a wide smile and nodded.

“Who else awakened?” Atticus asked.

As Whisker waved his arms, Atticus couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.

“All of them?”

Whisker nodded.

“The veinroot?”

Whisker nodded again.

Atticus was a bit surprised. To think that all the Eldorians would actually awaken and join his will path in just three months.

With everything occurring and the reunion, he didn’t pay much attention to his surroundings and hadn’t accessed his people yet.

“Take me to it.”

The air around them distorted, and in the next moment, they vanished and reappeared in front of an all encompassing dome.

With Atticus’ permission, Whisker had planted the veinroot in the continent he used for his training. This made sure access to it was limited, also assuring its protection from those who might wish the world bad.

Right now, though the world might be gentle due to their iron rule, Atticus believed it was a lot.

They shot through the barrier and appeared in the middle of the continent shortly after.

‘It’s gotten big.’

Atticus fixed his eyes on the enormous tree before him. It was leafless, and like his will, its bark was blood red.

The temperature around it was scalding hot. Around it was a massive pit of lava with numerous platforms for sitting.

“Beautiful, ain’t it?” Whisker said.

“It’s big. Really big.”

Atticus was instantly reminded of the Spirit King’s tree in the Starhaven Sector when the human domain was still present.

“I see…” he came to a sudden realization, “so the Spirit King’s tree was actually a veinroot.”

Whisker thought for a second, trying to place the memory, then nodded.

“It feels like it.”

Atticus sent a glance towards Ozeroth. His face had abruptly turned serious, his demeanor tense. The mention of the Spirit King had shifted his mood.

‘I should change the topic.’

“I can feel a large amount of my will coming from it. It’s really effective.”

Just by standing close to it, Atticus could feel his will getting tempered. He had to admit, the veinroot was worth all its troubles.
