Attack on Titan: The Titan of Fate
Chapter 415 - 415: Threat or...?
The blizzard in the Far East let out a deafening roar. In less than half an hour, the enormous base had been wrapped in a thick coat of white.
Inside the base, the heavily bundled-up Far Eastern soldiers either stood guard chatting with their weapons in hand or walked around the base while moving their bodies to keep warm.
In one corner of the base, unlike the others, a slender and graceful figure walked alone at the far end. Wearing only a thin down jacket and pants, Ivanor seemed completely unaffected by the freezing weather of more than ten degrees below zero.
"Hey! Stop right there! Ivanor, I'm talking to you!"
Hearing the shout from behind her, Ivanor frowned slightly and turned around. Her golden long hair swayed through the air, instantly stunning several Far Eastern soldiers passing nearby. Even in such cold weather, looking at a beauty still lifted one's mood.
When she saw that the one calling her was the arrogant Litt Bruce, Ivanor's already bad mood immediately worsened. Crossing her arms, she turned her head and fiercely shouted at the few Far Eastern soldiers staring blankly at her long legs:
"What are you looking at? Keep staring and I'll gouge your eyeballs out! Get lost!"
Her fierce aura instantly frightened the soldiers. They hurriedly pulled their gazes away from her legs, raised their rifles, and continued patrolling the base through the blizzard without daring to look sideways.
Litt Bruce quickly walked over to Ivanor and asked with slight displeasure:
"I called you seven or eight times on the way here. Did you do it on purpose?"
Ivanor absentmindedly fiddled with her fingers and glanced at Litt Bruce disdainfully.
"Are we close or something? Why should I respond to you? Stay away from me and stop bothering me!"
Hearing Ivanor's insult, Litt Bruce's expression immediately turned cold, and his fist quietly clenched.
Ivanor noticed his small movement at once. Her blue eyes shifted slightly before she suddenly burst into laughter and tilted her head as she said:
"Oh? What, you want to fight? Think carefully. Your Airwing Titan definitely can't beat my Paladin Titan. But when the time comes, how do you think Doctor Ebson will punish you? I heard from Bazel that Doctor Ebson really hates disobedient children."
Her words carried obvious warning and intimidation, but instead of getting angry, Litt Bruce calmed down.
Ivanor was right. Ebson Louis indeed disliked him. Litt Bruce could clearly sense it from their usual conversations. Yet for some reason, even though Ebson Louis had plenty of chances to replace him and choose someone more loyal to inherit the Airwing Titan, he had never taken any action.
Was it disdain? Or unwillingness?
Litt Bruce didn't know.
But he did know one thing: since Ebson Louis wasn't going to seize the opportunity, he certainly wouldn't be polite about it.
"Heh, Ivanor, if Bill, Bazel, or Serena said those words to me, I wouldn't find it strange at all. But hearing it from you... don't you think it's ridiculous yourself?"
Litt Bruce calmly spoke after scanning the surroundings and confirming there was no one nearby.
The mocking expression on Ivanor's face disappeared, replaced by a trace of confusion.
"What do you mean?"
"Twilight Town..."
Litt Bruce slowly uttered a place name.
The instant she heard those words, Ivanor's expression changed drastically. Litt Bruce only felt a blur before his eyes. By the time he reacted, Ivanor was already nearly pressed against him. A faint jasmine fragrance drifted into his nose, but the cold sensation against his neck felt far more real.
Sure enough, in the next second, Ivanor's originally charming voice became as cold as iron.
"When did you find out? What are you trying to do? Are you threatening me?"
Litt Bruce smiled coldly.
Now, the initiative was firmly in his hands.
Ignoring the dagger pressed against his neck—though killing a Titan warrior with a dagger was practically a joke—he said:
"When or why I found out doesn't matter. What matters is this: if Doctor Ebson finds out what you've been doing behind his back, how do you think he'll deal with you? Ivanor, you probably don't want Doctor Ebson discovering your little tricks either, right?"
Those words seemed to possess some magical power. Ivanor's pretty face instantly turned pale, and the dagger in her hand loosened.
Toward Ebson Louis, she truly felt deep fear.
And she also knew that if the doctor discovered what she had been secretly doing, she would undoubtedly die.
"What exactly do you want?" Ivanor questioned softly, her voice nearly drowned by the blizzard.
Litt Bruce replied:
"What do I want? What I want is the same as yours in some ways, but different in others. Relax. I'm the only one who knows about your matter, and I don't want to help that old bastard Ebson Louis either. So, Ivanor, can we finally have a proper talk now?"
A trace of hope surfaced in Ivanor's eyes.
Could it be... Litt Bruce was one of them too?
She secretly made a small gesture toward him, but Litt Bruce showed no reaction at all, causing disappointment to flash across her face.
"Stop overthinking it. I'm not one of your people. I only have one goal, though at least half of it overlaps with yours."
As he spoke calmly, Litt Bruce pulled out a folded piece of white paper from his pocket and handed it to her.
Ivanor quickly looked around to make sure nobody else was nearby before opening the paper. Her eyes flickered rapidly as she read through its contents. Not long after, she finished reading everything.
Without the slightest hesitation, she crumpled the small sheet of paper into a ball, stuffed it into her mouth, chewed it a few times, and swallowed it whole.
The corner of Litt Bruce's mouth twitched slightly as he silently put the lighter in his hand back into his pocket.
"I need time to think about this. I can't give you an answer right now," Ivanor said after hesitating for a while.
Litt Bruce responded indifferently:
"Heh, I'm not in a hurry. You can take your time thinking about it, or discuss it properly with your little lover. Just remember one thing—when dealing with a madman, the more power you have, the better. One extra friend never hurts."
After saying that, Litt Bruce tugged at his hood and turned away.
Ivanor watched him leave. After standing there blankly for a while, she also turned around and departed. The footprints left by the two of them on the ground were quickly buried beneath the heavy snow.
