Ascension Of The Blood Supreme
Chapter 265. Natural Selection
Triga and company kept leading the other Rank 3 warriors towards the same direction they had been venturing.
During the journey, the warriors had several battles with various Rank 1, Rank 2, and Rank 3 chaotic beasts and got rid of them.
A trail of corpses of chaotic beasts was littered across the sea surface. Also, the sea surface was covered with lots of blood.
Currently, they were halfway towards the place where Triga and company were luring the thousands of Rank 3 warriors from different empires and powers across the western continent.
Suddenly, something shifted in the environment.
Everyone heard rumbling sounds and the sounds of distant waves rolling forward.
The air shook.
"What the hell is that?" Triga squinted his eyes.
"Is that a shark?" one of his colleagues said.
"No, wait... there are a couple of them. Weird. Red sharks, huh? First time seeing red sharks. Anyway, let me deal with them." A legendary Rank 3 warrior stepped forward, intending to deal with the sharks.
No one stopped him.
He pointed his sword forward.
Wind hollered out of his figure. The wind congregated across his sword. He swung his sword forward. Large wind blades trailed ahead, tearing through the air and causing the air to split.
The wind blades crashed into several sharks and destroyed them into smithereens.
The warrior squinted his eyes.
"Something is not right. Where are the corpses of the sharks? Are these affinity constructs?"
A glint of realization flashed through several eyes.
"Did you just say affinity constructs?" Triga widened his eyes. "They looked red. If they are affinity constructs, and they were so well-made that they looked almost lifelike, then Aiden Vhorn is behind them."
"If he’s behind them, then this isn’t good. I don’t know what he is up to, but he is a madman. Whatever he is up to, it won’t be good. We need to be extra cautious."
"Do we retreat or head forward?"
"We have come too far to turn around. We don’t have a choice but to advance forward. We just need to be extra careful. Whatever Aiden Vhorn is planning cannot be good."
"Look, there are more of those shark-looking things."
Discussions brewed as everyone remained vigilant and proceeded forward.
However, more of Aiden’s shark-looking constructs rushed towards them.
Before anyone could launch any attack on the sharks, a heavy pressure bore down on all of them. Everyone, from the legendary Rank 3 warrior to the beginner Rank 3 warrior, felt it.
The creature was so large that they couldn’t even see half of it. It dwarfed them completely.
Everyone felt the aura it was radiating.
"A... beginner Rank 4 chaotic beast... shit..." Triga cursed. "Aiden Vhorn figured out our plan and used these crimson sharks to lure them here."
"Look, a human corpse is floating there. It looks like it came out of the shark construct we destroyed," one of his colleagues said.
"There are more of them," another added.
"He placed the human corpses in the mouths of the constructs he made. Noticing the human smell, the beginner Rank 4 chaotic beasts in front of the direction that leads to the island rushed here. He realized our plan and rather turned the same plan against us..." Triga chuckled wildly.
How terrifying. How did Aiden Vhorn even figure this out? How could someone be so terrifying?
He knew that they were done for.
As he spoke, several auras of beginner Rank 4 chaotic beasts emerged one after the other. There were uncountable numbers of them.
"Shit... retreat!"
Someone screamed.
No one was stupid enough to remain here.
They all turned around and tried to flee.
However, their efforts were futile.
Something that looked like a tentacle came down, wrapped its appendage around several people, and yanked them upwards.
Their bodies arced and somersaulted through the air, falling into the mouth of one of the creatures: a giant squid.
Many felt petrified. In just one moment, several legendary Rank 3 warriors numbering in the hundreds had been eaten alive.
The creature revealed a gleeful expression in its skyscraper-sized eye, then lashed forward.
Another giant catfish closed its large maw across hundreds of warriors with each moment.
A sea turtle breathed ice towards several escaping warriors. They turned into ice statues with terrified expressions. It grabbed them with its hands and stuffed them into its mouth.
The sounds of breaking bones, tearing flesh, and screams resounded as its eyes gleamed with extreme fanaticism as it chewed them up and gobbled them down.
It was mayhem.
The beginner Rank 4 chaotic beasts were not sparing anyone.
They had followed the sharks for a bit of human meat. To think there would be so many of them here—why would they pass up such an opportunity?
Triga was yanked upwards by the squid.
He stared into its bead-like eyes. Then he found himself heading into a narrow pit.
It was the creature’s mouth.
Something snapped him into two. He couldn’t even feel pain.
His vision blanketed.
"I shouldn’t have underestimated Aiden Vhorn."
These were his last thoughts before he lost consciousness forever and his flesh was digested.
The scenes was extremely gory.
Screams reverberated everywhere as thousands of Rank 3 warriors were eaten alive by the chaotic beasts like snacks.
Some were bitten in half. The remains of their corpses floated on the sea surface, staining it with blood.
Very soon, the sea surface was silent. All the thousands of Rank 3 warriors were dead.
It was obvious that this would be treated as an abnormal occurrence across the Western Continent.
The powers behind these Rank 3 warriors would try to investigate the cause of the deaths of their powerhouses. However, they wouldn’t be able to blame anyone. No satellite footage worked here.
The network was strangely distorted.
They could only attribute the deaths of their valuable warriors to the dangers of exploration.

"Pity that I can’t absorb their blood essence. The distance between me and them is too far. I’m sure the island has strong chaotic beasts I can kill and absorb their blood essence," Aiden thought as he used his enhanced senses to observe several warriors being eaten alive and some of them having parts of their bodies torn apart, with the remainder of their corpses being left on the sea by the beginner Rank 4 chaotic beasts.
"It’s time to move," he said to his friends.
The crimson phoenix-like construct shot towards the now empty location they had to pass through to move towards the island where the ruins of the Han Yi Ancient Sect are.
