Ascension Of The Blood Supreme

Chapter 156. The hunt 1

  • Next Chapter

The 12 operatives of the Cyrenthia Empire Military headed towards the place where the corpses of the chaotic beasts were.

As they headed there, several beginner rank 3 chaotic beasts tried to attack them. However, they killed the chaotic beasts effortlessly and continued forward.

Soon, they arrived in an evergreen extremely dense region of zone zero.

Several colossal corpses of chaotic beasts lay sprawled ahead of them.

The corpses had been slashed, torn apart and some had dismembered body parts.

"Chaotic beasts definitely killed them," The team leader said. "Everyone, stay alert. Let’s follow the trail."

The group moved forward. They walked past the colossal corpses of the chaotic beasts. They looked like ants before the corpses.

When they reached the last one, some of the trees in the environment rustled.

"What was that?" The vice team leader said.

"Just a rustle of the trees," Someone said. "Must be the wind."

"Let’s proceed," the team leader said.

They continued charging forward.

Suddenly, several claw-like vines lashed across the place with lightning speed.

The vines shot towards them. The first person to fall was the team leader. Before he could react, one of the vines appeared in his line of vision.

The claw-like vines crushed into his head and pierced through his skull into his brain. His skull shattered. Pain shot through his head. His head exploded as blood splurged out of his headless body. Chunks of flesh and bone from his exploded head shot across the place.

"Shit... re-" The vice team leader did not finish speaking.

She met the same fate as the team leader.

Her head exploded. She fell.

The claw-like vines were extremely fast, deadly and lethal.

Praaa praaaa praaa...

Heads exploded.

Very soon, all the 12 operatives were dead before they could even realize how they died.

Their headless corpses lay on the ground. The claw-like vines from the trees retreated into the trees as if nothing had happened. The silence of the locality resumed.

Aiden observed everything from his hiding spot.

The plan had worked flawlessly.

The corpses of the operatives were in a three kilometer radius.

He absorbed their blood essence. A quiet surge marked the completion of intake. After that, he used crimson hands he formed to put the corpses of the operatives in large swamps of water to hide them there. He didn’t want anyone who arrived here to suspect anything. If anyone who arrived here saw that the corpses of the operatives were in a particular area, they would be careful and not head there. That would defeat the purpose of the traps he set.

After that, Aiden remained still in his base of operations.

The Cyrenthia Empire would definitely send more operatives here. Possibly, the comms of the operatives they sent would go silent since they were dead.

Several hours later, several operatives of the Cyrenthia Empire arrived again. These guys came into zone zero through a route different from the one the first group came through.

Compared to the previous group, these guys were more careful. They didn’t know how the previous group died. But they knew that if 12 elite operatives could die in a place like this, they could not afford to be careless. This time, they numbered 30.

"We need to be very careful," the new team leader said. "According to Command, the comms of the previous team are on, but there’s no response from them. We all know what this means. They are dead. In order to ensure that our chances of survival increase, we need to split up. If we move together and we all face a threat we can’t handle, we will all die. However, if we move separately, some of us can at least survive and complete our objective."

"But team lead-",

Before anyone could object, the new team leader raised her hand and spoke.

"They most likely stayed together, thinking it was the best course of action, that’s why they all died when they probably encountered a powerful chaotic beast they could not handle. Also, keep your comms on at all moments. Report to me every five minutes the situation from your end. We are dividing ourselves into three groups."

The team members nodded.

There were three advanced rank 3 warriors among them, including the team leader. Each of the advanced rank 3 warriors led a group. Each group also had a healer and a scout.

"Be careful," The team leader said.

"Roger," the three teams nodded and shot towards different directions in zone zero.

Aiden observed them from his hunting spot quietly.

The three groups were killing chaotic beasts they came across in zone zero.

Anytime they killed a chaotic beast and the chaotic beast was in a three kilometer radius, Aiden would absorb the blood essence of the chaotic beast.

As for those who were not in the 3 kilometer radius, Aiden marked their locations and left them there. He did not want to do anything to risk revealing his location. He decided that when all the team members died, then he’d use crimson hands to bring the corpses of the beasts in a three kilometer radius and absorb their blood essence. As for the corpses of the operatives, he’d absorb their blood essence after bringing them into a three kilometer radius , then bury them in the swamps of water like he did for the previous team.

One of the three groups of the new team saw trails of corpses of chaotic beasts. They came to the same conclusion the previous team who died came to.

They followed the trail of beasts, deciding to kill chaotic beasts the trails would lead to.

Aiden knew that the trails of beasts led to a locality full of random blizzards.

Eventually, they passed the colossal corpses of chaotic beasts.

One of them felt something was off. It was the scout.

"The place ahead seems extremely cold and white. However the region is very foggy so I can’t see anything there. Should we still head there?"

The advanced rank 3 warrior among them was in thought for a moment.

Then he said, "We need to be extra careful. But we need to head there. If we encounter any threats we can’t handle, we can just retreat or use the poisons we have to deal with them."

"Alright."

"Let’s go then."

The rest agreed. The group ventured into the cold, white and extremely foggy region.

Author’s note; Please don’t skip.

A quick message to everyone reading this novel. ❤️

First, thank you to everyone who has been supporting this story—through Powerstones, comments, reviews, collections, or simply reading. I genuinely appreciate every one of you.

I also want to be honest with you. The book has a lot of readers, but the engagement is still quite low. To be completely honest, seeing many people reading while receiving very little engagement can be quite...😔

I want to make it clear that I’m not saying this to guilt-trip anyone or make anyone feel obligated to support the book. I know everyone has their own reasons for how they choose to interact with a novel. I’m simply sharing how I genuinely feel as the person behind the story, because I think it’s better to be honest with the people who have taken the time to read my work.

And just to be clear guys, I’m not giving up on the story. I intend to see it through to the end. If you’ve read my previous 868 Chapter completed novel, you’d realize I don’t abandon projects.

I simply want to see Ascension Of The Blood Supreme grow and reach the potential I believe it has, that’s why I’m rumbling on like that😊.

If you’re genuinely enjoying the story, I’d really appreciate you helping me push it. Leave a Powerstone, write a review, comment, add the book to your collection, or recommend it to someone who might enjoy it.

These things may seem small, but together they can make a real difference in how far the novel reaches. The NovelPhoenix algorithm is programmed to give exposure to books with a lot of reader engagements, and votes.

I can write the story, but I can’t build its momentum alone.

Thank you for being here. Let’s see how far we can take this together. ❤️
