Ascension Of The Blood Supreme
Chapter 145. Hands in pockets
Aiden sighed as the water bullet trailed towards him.
He didn’t move. His hands were still in his pockets.
A blob of blood appeared before him. The blob of blood transformed into a crimson plate and clashed into the water bullet as Aiden continued walking towards the entrance.
The water bullet broke into water droplets and spread across the place after crashing into the crimson plate.
The crimson plate transformed into a crimson blade. The crimson blade shot towards the arm of the guy who launched the water bullet.
The crimson blade was so fast that it looked like a crimson phantom.
Suddenly, the sound of flesh being sliced pervaded the place.
The crimson blade cut through the guy’s shoulder joint, cleaved through flesh, and separated the guy’s right upper limb from the rest of his body. The full hand flew through the air. Blood splintered across the place. The hand fell down a few walks away from him as he screamed in pain and terror. The crimson blade turned into blobs of blood and returned into Aiden.
The group he had arrived here with were scared shitless. All of them stared at Aiden Vhorn’s retreating back, hand still in his pocket, with fear.
They all staggered, turned around, and fled from the place, leaving the guy with the cut-off upper limb staring at Aiden’s back with terror on his face.
This was when realization dawned on him.
Aiden Vhorn did not give a crap about some captain behind him. He had gone as far as offending four admirals. Why would he give a damn about some captain?
The onlookers thought the same.
As expected of the crimson reaper.
Also, he didn’t even speak a word to his assaulters or even turn to look at them. To him, they were a bunch of cartoonish flies he could not be bothered to waste his time on?
Everyone looked at the fellow who tried to bully Aiden Vhorn with scornful gazes.
Heh. Serves him right.
He actually thought the crimson reaper was someone he could push around?
Suddenly, someone appeared in the area.
"What’s going on here?"
The person who had appeared was the intermediate rank 3 captain whose unit member wanted to bully Aiden Vhorn.
The fellow smiled. He was in extreme pain because of Aiden Vhorn. He needed to find a healer to help him regrow his arm. But before that, he wanted to witness what his unit head would do to Aiden Vhorn for attacking him.
However, contrary to what he was expecting, his unit head slapped him.
Pa!
His cheeks shook as pain traveled through his head.
"Are you crazy? Bringing disgrace on our unit?" His unit head spoke, her spittle flying all over the place.
Everyone in the vicinity was completely shocked.
This was not how they had expected things to play out. Usually, when an operative without any backing has an altercation with someone in a unit, their unit head would put the person who offended their unit member in their place. When they were alone with their unit member, they’d discipline them privately for biting more than they could chew. It was a way of protecting the reputation of their unit. If they allowed anyone to publicly humiliate their unit member, their unit members would lose morale. This would in turn affect the overall performance of the unit.
This particular unit head was known for allowing her unit members to throw their weight around every once in a while. Her unit members would bully some easy targets. If the easy target turned out to be some powerful operative who decides to retaliate against her unit members, she’d intervene and dissolve the situation on behalf of her unit members by beating some sense into the operative who retaliated.
So, it was a shock to everyone that she was slapping her unit member, who had also lost a limb!
"Ma’am, I don’t understa—"
Before he could continue, he received another slap!
"Apologize to operative Vhorn now!"
The unit head was very pissed. Miller was someone she was closely acquainted with. Had it not been for Aiden Vhorn’s intervention at Outpost 47, her friend, Miller, would have died. He was her only friend left alive in the military.
So, she was very grateful that Aiden Vhorn had saved Outpost 47. But to think a stupid unit member of hers would go out of his way to try and cause trouble for Aiden Vhorn.
She knew because he had offended four admirals, no one could back him or associate themselves with him. But that did not mean she could not sanction a unit member of hers who offended the man who saved a friend of hers.
Everyone in the vicinity was shocked.
What an unexpected development. For some strange and unknown reason, the unit head was actually telling her unit member to apologize to Aiden Vhorn?
Heh.
"Wait... I heard this unit head was friends with the captain of Outpost 47," someone finally said.
"Could it be that she’s pissed that her unit member offended the person who saved her friend’s base?"
"That’s very likely!"
"Heh. This guy wanted to offend Aiden Vhorn, thinking that he had the backing of his unit head to throw his weight around. Little did he know that his unit head is actually willing to give Aiden Vhorn face for saving her friend!"
"The person he thought would have his back was actually willing to give Aiden Vhorn some face! Haha. I can’t stop laughing!"
"That’s right. Just because no one can back or associate themselves with him because he offended four admirals does not mean that she can bring herself to try and humiliate him, when he saved her friend’s base!"
The fellow on the ground heard the conversations.
He now understood why his unit head was very angry!
He had offended someone his unit head saw in a respectful light!
Shit...
Quietly, he crawled towards Aiden Vhorn’s retreating back as he was about to enter the Warriors Association building. Aiden Vhorn was walking calmly as if the commotion behind him had nothing to do with him.
Aiden Vhorn’s back eventually retreated into the Warriors Association Building, leaving the fellow on the ground under the humiliating gazes of several onlookers.
The unit head sighed.
"Forget it. It doesn’t look like he cares about your apology anyway. Pick your battles carefully next time." The unit head picked him, threw him on her shoulder, and left the place. She needed to find a healer for this troublesome unit member of hers. After that, she’d beat some sense into him. On second thought, it was about time she stopped her unit members from bullying other operatives. Who knew who they would offend next time?
Her unit member regretted targeting someone he should not have targeted. He had humiliated himself completely. He would make sure to carry out his frustrations on Hanu later. He did all this for that bastard. Yes, Hanu didn’t ask him to do anything. But he was in this situation because he tried to humiliate Aiden Vhorn, someone Hanu offended. But he also made a mental note to never pick on any operative from now on, whether they had a backing or not.
The onlookers watched the sight comically.
A man with a severed right upper limb was being carried by a woman. Many took pictures. People always loved to see others humiliated. It was obvious that this unit member would be trending on Riktok by the next morning for several reasons.
