Chapter 466: Chapter 237: Golden Spring Spiritual Liquid, Annihilating the Remnants
As a vital stronghold of the Golden Spring Temple, the Demon Suppression Tower was constructed entirely from special Black Stone, its surface covered in the Buddhist Sect’s sealing runes. It was exceptionally sturdy.
The previous all-out battle between Profound Mastery experts had caused widespread damage, leaving the front hall, scripture hall, and many Zen Rooms of the Golden Spring Temple in ruins.
Yet, aside from some scorch marks and fine cracks on its surface, the Demon Suppression Tower’s main structure remained intact—a testament to both its solid construction and the importance the Golden Spring Temple placed upon it.
Upon stepping inside the tower, the light dimmed abruptly. A complex stench permeated the air—a mixture of sandalwood, blood, must, and despair.
In the cages on every floor, the prisoners, like startled beasts roused from slumber, had sensed the drastic changes outside. They were letting out a cacophony of roars, wails, curses, and pleas.
"Let me out! Is there a fight going on outside? Help!"
"Are all those bald bastards from the Golden Spring Temple dead? Hurry and open the Restriction!"
"I was framed! I’m willing to surrender to the Government Office! Let me out!"
The chaotic clamor of voices echoed, buzzing throughout the tower’s interior.
Some desperately rammed the cage bars or strained against heavy iron chains, while others simply stared, their eyes dull and numb.
Chen Sheng and Chu Kuangfeng paid them no mind, heading straight down the spiraling stone staircase at a rapid pace.
There might have been genuinely wronged individuals among them, but this was hardly the time to sort the innocent from the guilty.
Soon, the two reached the eighteenth and lowest level of the tower.
The space here was small and the chill was more intense, yet the Spiritual Qi was, paradoxically, a bit richer and purer.
An old monk in tattered robes sat cross-legged in the corridor leading to the final stone door. His face was as withered as a dried corpse; he was already breathless, his body rigid.
Dark, dried blood crusted his seven orifices. It was clear that after sensing the upheaval outside, he knew he was powerless to turn the tide and had willed his own passing here, attempting to reinforce the Restriction and delay the plundering of the Spiritual Spring.
And indeed, the light of the Restriction on the stone door beside him, shimmering with Buddha Light, was more solid and brilliant than those on the upper levels.
"He was loyal, I’ll grant him that. A pity it was all for naught."
Chu Kuangfeng glanced at the old monk’s corpse and shook his head.
He then stepped forward and his hands flew, forming a rapid Sealing Technique. As his ten fingers danced, streams of faint yet precise Gang Qi shot into specific nodes of the runes surrounding the stone door.
In the time it took to draw a hundred breaths, the seemingly unbreakable Buddha Light Restriction began to melt away like ice in the sun. It dimmed and dissolved layer by layer until, with a soft CLICK, it vanished completely.
Chu Kuangfeng stepped forward and heaved the heavy stone door open.
HUMMM...
The moment the stone door opened, a wave of Spiritual Qi—at least ten times richer and purer than what was in the tower above—washed over them, instantly revitalizing their spirits.
Behind the door was a small stone chamber. In the center of the floor lay a pool, roughly ten feet in diameter, from which a milky-white Spiritual Mist constantly rose. The water was crystal clear, faintly shimmering with a golden luster. This was indeed the famed Spiritual Spring of Ning’an.
And in the very center of the Spirit Pool stood a natural white jade pedestal, about a foot high.
The pedestal was carved into the shape of a dragon’s head. Beneath the dragon’s maw sat a pale golden vessel—a Treasure Gourd fashioned from a material that was neither gold nor jade—positioned to collect the Spiritual Liquid.
Chen Sheng stepped forward and carefully picked up the golden gourd.
It felt slightly heavy in his hand, its surface warm and smooth to the touch.
He pulled out a small stopper made of the same material. Instantly, an even more refreshing and exotic fragrance filled the air, soothing the very soul.
The gourd was more than half-full of a golden Spiritual Liquid. Its color was pure, its consistency as thick as honey, and it seemed to glow from within. Just the scent alone made him feel the depleted True Essence in his body begin to recover at an accelerated rate.
’This stuff is truly incredible!’
Chen Sheng marveled internally. His only slight regret was that the gourd wasn’t full, containing only just over half of its capacity.
What he didn’t know, however, was that this amount of Golden Spring Spiritual Liquid was the fruit of several years of accumulation by the Golden Spring Temple, gathered at great cost and intended as tribute for the Celestial Dragon Temple.
Its value was enough to drive many small and mid-sized sects into a frenzy.
The portion used to tempt Lu Canghai of Luoyun Manor had been a mere four drops.
After confirming its authenticity, Chen Sheng replaced the stopper, turned to Chu Kuangfeng beside him, and said forthrightly:
"Chu, this liquid is incredibly precious. How do you think we should divide it?"
Hearing this, Chu Kuangfeng laughed freely and waved his hand dismissively.
"Chen, no need for such formalities. You were the mastermind behind the fall of the Golden Spring Temple. You put in the most effort and shouldered the greatest risk. For my part, simply being able to slay my enemies with my own hands has been the greatest joy of my life.
As for this Spiritual Liquid, ten drops will be more than enough for me, just in case. The rest belongs to you, Chen. Don’t even think of refusing!"
Chen Sheng gave Chu Kuangfeng a long, deep look. Seeing the frank sincerity in his eyes, he stopped trying to be modest and simply nodded.
"Very well. Chu, I will remember this kindness."
With that, Chen Sheng took out a small jade vial he had prepared in advance. He carefully poured about ten drops of the brilliantly gleaming Spiritual Liquid from the golden gourd into the vial and handed it to Chu Kuangfeng.
The latter accepted it without ceremony, taking the jade vial and storing it away safely.
As for the rest of the Golden Spring Spiritual Liquid, Chen Sheng stored it away with great care.
Feeling the reassuring weight of the gourd against his chest, a sharp glint flashed in Chen Sheng’s eyes.
With this in his possession, his future cultivation would have a powerful asset.
