Chapter 570: The Cuckoo Takes Over the Magpie’s Nest
Chapter 570: Chapter 570: The Cuckoo Takes Over the Magpie’s Nest
What appeared before Lupin was a short man with thinning hair and tiny eyes. He wore a gray pinstriped suit, and his skin looked extremely pale.
Peter Pettigrew?!
Lupin was frozen in shock as he stared at his former friend, screaming inwardly. How was this possible? How could this be? Why was he here? Hadn’t Sirius Black killed him?
Just like everyone else, Lupin had always believed that Sirius Black had betrayed James and Lily Potter, then caused the huge explosion that killed all the Muggles on the street, along with Peter Pettigrew.
But now that Peter Pettigrew was standing right in front of him, out in the open as if it were the most natural thing in the world, Lupin’s entire understanding of the situation fell apart.
What was going on? What in the world was happening?
"Heh heh heh, I know you’re surprised right now, aren’t you?"
Looking at Lupin, who had been petrified and could only move his two eyes, Peter Pettigrew let out a shrill laugh. "You must be wondering how I’m still alive. I should have been killed by Sirius Black, right? That’s what you’re thinking, isn’t it?"
Lupin couldn’t answer, but his eyes remained fixed on Peter Pettigrew. Clearly, he was waiting for an explanation.
"Actually, I was the one who told my master... Voldemort everything," Peter Pettigrew said with a shrug and a soft laugh. "Sirius Black was just my scapegoat. I was the Secret-Keeper all along!"
What?
Lupin’s heart shook violently, and disbelief filled his face. If that was true, then Sirius Black, who had been thrown into Azkaban, had been innocent all along?
"Later, to escape the Ministry of Magic’s attention, I disguised myself as a pet rat. I hid in the Weasley family’s home for twelve years. Do you know what those twelve years were like for me?"
As if he needed to vent all the pain and unfairness he had suffered over the years, Peter Pettigrew started talking like beans spilling from a jar. "I ate the most disgusting bugs, drank the filthiest water, and I was even almost taken apart for dissection by those damn Weasley twins!"
Peter Pettigrew still felt a lingering fear whenever he thought about it. George and Fred had already tied him to an examination table. Luckily, Mrs. Weasley had arrived in time.
"Damn Black! If it weren’t for him, I never would have had to suffer like this! Damn the Ministry of Magic for forcing me to hide everywhere! And damn Voldemort! All he ever did was enslave and order me around!"
Peter Pettigrew said Voldemort’s full name without hesitation, his voice filled with anger and hatred.
Lupin was once again stunned.
Wasn’t Peter Pettigrew Voldemort’s loyal servant? How could he dare curse his master behind his back like that? Had spending so long as a rat driven him insane?
In fact, everyone watching this scene was just as surprised and confused.
After all, in the original story, Peter Pettigrew could be considered Voldemort’s most loyal servant. He had worked tirelessly for his master. So why was he cursing Voldemort now?
Doujin Artist: Anzen, this was your masterpiece, wasn’t it?
In Eriri’s eyes, only her incredibly powerful group leader could have turned someone like Peter Pettigrew, a die-hard Voldemort fan and loyal servant, against him.
This Is an Actor: You could say it was my idea, but I wasn’t the one who carried it out.
Angel of the Hidden Rain Village: Got it, Aura?
This Is an Actor: Yeah.
Curly-haired Guy: As expected of the wizards’ best assistant. House-elves are really convenient to use. Compared with them, some humans can’t do anything right!
Wig Guy: Gintoki, why are you insulting yourself like that?
Curly-haired Guy: Gin-san, I’m insulting you, you idiot! Do you really have no idea how useless you are?
Villain of the Soul Society: So Peter Pettigrew’s master is Aura now? Why did he capture Lupin?
This Is an Actor: No spoilers. Just keep watching.
"Hmph. Hahahaha!" On the screen, Peter Pettigrew’s expression grew more and more unhinged, like a mad cultist who had completely lost his mind. "Thank goodness. Thank goodness my great master showed me the way again! He finally helped me understand what I’m truly meant to do!"
Master?
Lupin drew a sharp breath. He instinctively sensed that something bad was about to happen. Peter Pettigrew no longer even seemed to care about Voldemort, yet he had found himself a new master? Could this new master be even more terrifying than Voldemort?
Buzz.
Just as Lupin was thinking this, a black void suddenly appeared before his eyes. Aura slowly stepped out of it in a black tailcoat, her face completely expressionless.
"Master! My great master!" The moment Peter Pettigrew saw Aura appear, he rushed over, dropped to his knees, and began obsequiously licking the leather boots beneath her feet.
Aura frowned and lightly moved the tip of her foot. A powerful force suddenly burst out, sending Peter Pettigrew’s entire body flying.
"I believe I’ve told you that I don’t like this kind of welcome."
"I’m sorry, Master! It was my fault, but I couldn’t control my excitement!" Blood trickled from the corner of Peter Pettigrew’s mouth, yet his face was still filled with fanatic devotion.
Lupin felt a wave of disgust at the sight. Peter Pettigrew’s shameless, bootlicking behavior made his whole body feel uncomfortable.
"Enough talking. Let’s begin," Aura said coldly, apparently not interested in dealing with her newly acquired servant.
Begin? Begin what?
That thought had only just crossed Lupin’s mind when Peter Pettigrew suddenly leaped up and darted toward him.
Whoosh.
Aura raised both hands, grabbing Lupin’s right shoulder with her left hand and Peter Pettigrew’s left shoulder with her right.
"Mirror Image," she whispered.
Bzzzzzz.
The air suddenly began to vibrate, as if an invisible chain had linked Lupin and Peter Pettigrew together. Before Lupin’s eyes, Peter Pettigrew’s body gradually grew taller, while his cheeks became thinner and more sunken.
What... what kind of magic was this?
Lupin was completely stunned by the transformation taking place before him. He felt as if he were looking into a mirror. Peter Pettigrew had actually turned into him!
"Ah, so Peter Pettigrew has always been your best friend in your heart?" The Lupin standing opposite him spoke up while he was still staring blankly. "I’m touched, Moony."
Lupin’s heart shook again, and his face went blank with shock.
His memories had been stolen too?
