Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 947: All Rivers Flow to the Sea (Part 5)

  • Next Chapter

The armed train had no more scruples, and began its war preparations vigorously.

The first issue to solve was the Doomsday Alliance. It wasn’t a fictional organization, but an armed force with extensive personnel and resource mobilizations. So the first task was to build large-scale bases and solve the extreme temperature issues in the Wind Snow Zone.

After all, metal can’t exist in the Rust Area; everything must be managed to be brought to the Wind Snow Zone. Large equipment and facilities can’t be buried in snow holes, and must be placed on the ground. However, the destruction of extreme cold to the equipment is no less than rusting, so countermeasures must be taken.

But after three years, all major forces had made significant progress, and the Celestial Disaster Zone was no longer an insurmountable obstacle.

In times of crisis, everyone’s actions were swift.

Under the terrifying wave of evolution, those who reacted slowly wouldn’t have survived until now.

But Su Huan didn’t concern himself with these matters. That day, he set off and crossed the Rust Area, where the [Metal] rule had long been brought back to the train by Xiaoba. He had also met the few powers at Dragon Gate, and there was nothing much to discuss.

Cheng Zhan, however, was reportedly potentially involved in a war with the Otherworld and was staying in the Wind Snow Zone, refusing to leave.

Ah Duo followed Su Huan all the way south.

After the Rust Area came the Plant Zone, and the [Fear] Rule Stone had also been secured early on.

Su Huan brought some fruits for the Traveler’s Tree, who was very happy. Three years is precious time for humans, but for a tree, it’s just a short nap. The Traveler’s Tree hadn’t changed much, except that its aura was more robust, and it had started raising hamsters again around it.

Upon hearing about the matters of the Otherworld, the Traveler’s Tree was righteously indignant and wanted to assist its human friends. But Su Huan simply smiled and left, not yet fallen to the point of needing help from a tree.

Limited by the growth rate of the Traveler’s Tree, the station here wasn’t large either. From the sky, it looked like small ants gathered around the tree. There were no familiar people, so Su Huan didn’t bother to go down, but continued south with Ah Duo.

…

Gravity Zone, Donghuang Heavy Industry.

After three years of construction, at the capital of Yuchuan Province, an iron metropolis had risen up.

It was no longer the open architecture of pre-apocalypse, but a massive concrete city wall, towering at a height of a hundred meters. There were two such walls, and the base of Donghuang Heavy Industry was sandwiched between them. The entire city was shaped like a long strip.

Inside, the modular buildings crisscrossed, appearing wild at a glance, but were meticulously planned. Donghuang Heavy Industry initially named it Light Gap City, meaning that only a slit of sunlight could be seen, but everyone preferred to call it Iron Gorge. Over time, this name stuck.

(Similar to the linear cities in Saudi Arabia, though not as large in scale)

(The internal layout has a cyberpunk aesthetic)

Lord Lian initially wanted to construct a conventional square or an ancient octagonal city, as it’s spacious and convenient for later expansion.

Unfortunately, due to limited materials and frequent disasters since the apocalypse, the demand for defensive forces for conventional cities exceeded the Carrying Capacity. The city had to be built in a manner of being clamped between two walls. Iron Gorge, every hundred meters is a module, and if space is not enough, more are added to the sides. Over time, it became linearly shaped.

Lord Lian’s office was moved to the top of an enemy tower at the edge of the city wall.

[Ma Mian: a rectangular protruding platform outside the city wall, as high as the wall, with an enemy tower or battlement on top. Named for resembling a horse face from the side.]

Here, the view was wide, the lighting excellent, and most importantly, it was quick to exit the city. A jump out of the window led directly outside, a location painstakingly chosen by Assistant Xiaoshui for Lord Lian’s office.

The office contained only one desk and two chairs.

Lord Lian sat cross-legged on the chair, a wolf-skin cloak draped over her legs like a blanket. The fur rippled with the woman’s subtle movements, shimmering with lights.

Yang Ruoyu entered quietly, saying, “Leader, the Doomsday Alliance, led by the armed train, has already formed in the Wind Snow Zone and issued its first order to the powers in each zone.”

Lord Lian didn’t lift her head. Among the numerous powers, she was the first to know about the news, and she had returned earlier to prepare for the Doomsday Alliance issue.

“What did they say?”

“They’re hoping the powers in each zone will cooperate to find the Rule Stones. The train conductor will personally come to hand them over when the time comes.”

The corners of the woman’s mouth suddenly curved into a smile.

What cooperation — that guy was clearly demanding. Once he stood there, didn’t he have the final say in everything?

Pulling her thoughts away from that shameless bastard, “Have we made any progress in finding it?”

Yang Ruoyu frowned, “The second [Gravity] Rule Stone has already been found, but it’s on a floating island claimed by another power. We’re currently negotiating.”

Lord Lian stretched, the wolf skin slipping, fully revealing her domineering figure.

“Forget it,” Lord Lian said straightforwardly, “that guy might be coming soon. What if he doesn’t respect me? Better settle things in advance, to prevent him from leaving me with a mess.”

Yang Ruoyu was surprised, “Then what about the preparations for battle?”

“The groundwork is almost complete. The rest is up to you to arrange.”

Lord Lian already had one foot on the window ledge.

“Then I’ll arrange the security… “

Before the words were finished, Lord Lian’s silhouette had vanished from the window, and the words “No need” drifted back.

With the info provided by Xiaoshui, Lord Lian identified the direction and sprinted south.

Having ascended to Tier Four with the “Fist Frenzy,” Lord Lian still had no flying ability, but her speed was extremely fast. Three seconds after landing, she broke the sound barrier, slicing through the earth like a silver lightning bolt.
