Armed Train in the Apocalypse
Chapter 940 - 527: Tributaries Converging into the Sea (Part 1)
The woman calmly pointed to her abdomen, "Do you remember my first modification?"
Su Huan’s eyes slightly flickered. It felt just the same as three years ago, perhaps even better.
"Activating every muscle there is merely incidental; the main function is to delay life,"
Yu Jing explained lightly.
Su Huan pondered, "So, you’re saying you waited a long time before letting those two little ones be born?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
In this regard, Su Huan, like Yu Yue, harbored suspicion towards Yu Jing.
She wasn’t exactly the kind of person who liked children.
Faced with this question, Yu Jing remained silent.
Since she didn’t want to speak, Su Huan didn’t press her, waving a hand, "Let’s go, it’s about time to go down and eat."
"There’s a lot waiting for you to handle on the train, isn’t there?"
"If three years of delay didn’t cause any issues, then two more days won’t be a problem."
The two walked out of the lab; the bottom floor of the cultivation pod hadn’t changed much in three years, still filled with humming machines and crisscrossed pathways, with researchers coming and going tirelessly.
There were just some more security personnel at the location where the opposite prison was.
Su Huan nodded slightly, "Is number 1 still behaving?"
"It’s fine, but Black Kite brought in a second number 1 not long after you left,"
Yu Jing hinted.
But Su Huan just nodded, without a ripple.
"How’s the Mirror doing?"
"Currently stuck at Tier Three. Her carrying capacity is much better than Lin Xi’s but is also near its limit."
"No wonder there’s the aura of a Tier Three Evolver."
Yu Jing explained, "After you left, we voted to open up human experimentation. However, the prison’s expansion has been cautious. Except for enemies, all are test subjects, staff from the train won’t be imprisoned here."
As long as experiments weren’t done on their own people, Su Huan was indifferent to it.
The journey to Eternal Night had restored more of his humanity, but his baseline was still low, with the only principle being not using low-handed methods on their own people.
"However, with the increase in experimental subjects, prison security is stretched thin. I’ve heard Hu Shuo and others discuss assigning a separate unit of armed personnel to the prison, but I’m not sure how far that has gone."
The two arrived at the edge of the door, and Su Huan suddenly noticed many more people below.
Apart from warriors wearing the Armed Corps’ gray-green coats, there were many genetic warriors in black military uniforms. Under the command of the Armed Corps, they were building battlefield fortifications around Su Huan’s "home," with barracks neatly arranged.
A rough glance revealed no less than five thousand people, almost matching the number on the entire train.
Su Huan was somewhat curious, "I meant to ask earlier, which faction do they belong to?"
"They are our people."
"Peripheral warriors?"
Yu Jing briefly explained the Pale Battlefront and the corps’ evolution over the last three years to Su Huan.
To prepare for long-term large-scale warfare, the Armed Corps had long since moved beyond the scope of being small but elite. During the Four Nations War, they had no choice but to use officer seedlings as expendable soldiers. Now, with time, He Jie naturally wouldn’t do that.
The original system of the Armed Corps naturally couldn’t expand to twenty thousand people. If Evolvers all became officers, there would be no elite squads.
Therefore, two management systems had to be implemented: most Evolvers continued to maintain the basic combat unit of five-person squads, while a few with commanding ability were sent by He Jie to lead large corps among the genetic warriors.
Genetic warriors were also organized into five-person squads, but they didn’t have the same level of freedom as the Evolvers and could only engage in missions under corps command, strictly adhering to the rank system.
In addition, there was a portion of special iron-blooded mechanical transformation warriors, mostly severely injured individuals who couldn’t be cured, modified through surgery by Yu Jing. This part was quite complex, including Evolvers who couldn’t evolve, genetic warriors, and those simply enthusiastic about mechanics and worshippers of exoskeletons and power armor.
Overall, within the Armed Corps, many new factions had emerged in the "dimension of evolution."
"If you want to know more, you’d have to ask He Jie. I haven’t been attending meetings for a long time, so I’m not aware of many changes."
"Has He Jie been complaining about me?"
"No."
Su Huan descended from high above, followed closely by Yu Jing.
The two effortlessly landed in front of the house across a few hundred meters, and within just a few hours, Su Huan’s yard was transformed into a temporary encampment, brightly lit, bustling with sounds, and even the temperature adjusted above freezing by these guys.
Before Su Huan went in, a tall figure rushed towards them.
Even the stiff military uniform couldn’t conceal that overwhelming presence.
The person coming was none other than Tasia, representing the Northern Alliance.
Her azure eyes fixated on Su Huan, solemnly saying, "Regarding the Eternal Night Zone, my father wants to talk with you, if—"
Before she could finish, Su Huan interrupted, "I’ll talk when I’m in a good mood."
To him, the affairs of Mao Bear and White Bear held less attraction than a skewer of grilled meat, even considering how the Northern Alliance had spent the last three years.
Watching Su Huan walk away towards the children, Tasia frowned and then turned to Yu Jing beside her, suddenly saying heavily, "You’ve reached Tier Four?"
Yu Jing responded blandly with a simple acknowledgment.
She spent most of her time on the train conducting experiments, and even during the most frequent collaboration with the Northern Alliance, she barely saw Tasia a few times. Naturally, she wasn’t familiar with this aggressive, violent woman. A nod was given only because the other was a Tier Four Evolver.
