Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 934 - 524: To Mend Heaven Together (Part 9)

The Tiger King let out a series of threatening low growls, yet its paws subconsciously stepped back.

Hidden in the snow, the Ice Viper King stopped surging and began retreating segment by segment. The fallen snow slipped back into place, as if nothing had ever happened.

The Wolf King, locked in the cage by Xiaoba, was unusually agitated.

The raging wind and snow came to a halt.

The tenfold Gravity pressing down on everyone vanished as well. The gloomy sky revealed the sun, heaven and earth cleared, and the world seemed to have been nudged back onto its proper track by an invisible hand.

A figure walked over from the end of the snowfield, casting a large shadow across the dazzling snow.

No matter how far they were from him, everyone could clearly see his tall frame. His long black hair trailed along the ground, his chest was bare, and every muscle was of just the right thickness—neither gaunt nor bloated.

It was clearly bright daylight, the sky blazing, yet when he came forward, all living things felt as though the heavens had darkened, like a god dragging the night across the border of light and shadow as he roamed.

And with each step he took forward, the beasts surrounding the people retreated two steps. The wolves didn’t dare growl, the snakes didn’t dare hiss. Driven by pure instinct, they buried their snouts into the snow and began to back away without even realizing it.

Whether they knew him or not, everyone was shocked by this scene in that instant.

"He’s back."

This sentence surfaced in everyone’s heart at the same time.

Fu Lanshan’s eyes darkened and deepened; countless thoughts and plans were swallowed back down into his belly, dissolving into a long, quiet sigh.

Beside him, Ge Mian watched his expression, patting his own belly with a soundless laugh, only to start coughing from inhaling too much cold air.

Ah Duo, who had just climbed out of the train, looked utterly shaken, while Cheng Zhan standing next to her had fallen completely silent.

He Jie thrust the red-hot anti-aircraft machine gun into the snow, his expression complex as he watched that man. Every time he was about to reach his limit, he would think of that man’s parting entrustment, imagine him popping up somewhere unexpected, lazing about from head to toe, saying in that mocking, drawling tone, "Knew you couldn’t handle it. Go lie down."

Then he’d unload all the trash talk he’d built up over the years, drench him in curses from head to toe, then go and sleep for three days and three nights. From then on he’d quit working, spend his days eating and sleeping and sleeping and eating, and curse that irresponsible bastard out thoroughly each and every day.

The first year, he amassed a mountain of vicious lines. By the second year, they’d been cut down to almost nothing. By the third year, he’d forgotten them all.

And now that man had come back, yet he didn’t know what he ought to say.

The others were more or less the same, staring blankly at that person, at a loss for words.

Only Xiaoba broke into a huge grin, his clear voice ringing through heaven and earth.

"Welcome home, Conductor!"

Su Huan snapped out of his trance. Hearing all those familiar calls ringing in his ears, he finally knew for certain that he had walked out of the Eternal Night.

This wasn’t an illusion. It was real, truly... real—he had come out.

The Crystal Stone in his hair shattered, and the last faint song faded away beside his ear, yet the throbbing in his chest, that blood-deep connection, only grew stronger.

Su Huan ignored the feral, snarling Evolution Beasts and paid no heed to Xiaoba and the others calling out to him. Instead, he walked toward the mobile carriage in the center.

For three years, that pulsation had been there every moment, guiding him toward the right direction.

The Genetic Warriors instinctively moved aside to open a path. The heavily guarded mobile carriage appeared before him, yet Su Huan stopped, expectation mingling with a trace of almost imperceptible hesitation.

The carriage door was pulled open, and a woman stood in the doorway, laughing through her tears.

Seeing the man she’d longed for day and night appear there, her heart felt like it was about to leap from her chest with joy, yet the tears simply would not stop.

She was afraid that the hidden sob in her voice would spoil this dreamlike reunion.

So she only forced out a soft greeting.

"You’re back..."

A little one squeezed in front of the woman, watching Su Huan warily. Encouraged by Su Yi, the other two little ones also stepped in front of Yu Yue, looking at Su Huan in front of them with puzzled, bewildered eyes.

"This guy’s face looks a lot like Brother’s, and his eyes look like yours, long and narrow." Little Su Yan muttered under her breath.

"He obviously looks most like you."

Su Li said, his tone a bit weak.

Su Yi didn’t have time to worry about his younger siblings before he realized that in the blink of an eye the man had already appeared right in front of them, reaching out toward the mother behind him. Startled, he flung both arms out to push him away, but with his height barely reaching a meter, there was no way he could stop Su Huan’s hand from stroking the woman’s face.

"...I’m sorry."

These two words had rolled around inside him countless times, yet when they finally pushed past his throat, Su Huan still felt unbearably clumsy.

Her apricot eyes froze in surprise. This was the first time she’d ever heard those words from Su Huan’s mouth. The man before her had always taken everything for granted. Whether it was deceit or betrayal, he had never cared. No matter what malice or kindness others directed at him, he never responded.

She had long resigned herself to never being able to warm this stone in her lifetime, yet she hadn’t expected it to melt so suddenly.

Before Su Yi could figure out who this person was, he felt something warm drip down his collar. Looking up, he saw his mother in tears. The Anger in his heart had reached its peak. His little fists pounded furiously on Su Huan’s leg. "Don’t hurt my mom!"

But before he could land more than a couple of hits, a tremendous force came from behind. The woman collapsed into the man’s arms, sobbing so hard she couldn’t speak.

Little Su Yi was wedged between the two of them.

...

One minute later.

"He seems to be our dad." Su Yan poked Su Yi’s arm.
