Armed Train in the Apocalypse
Chapter 850 - 482: Metal and Flame
Since they obtained the memories of a living person, it makes sense they can fly a plane.
But Su Huan was surprised at how the plane could fly when all the electronic systems had failed.
"Maybe the mechanical backups are extensive..."
He Jie said uncertainly.
"What do you mean? It doesn’t rely on electronic systems?"
Su Huan instinctively rubbed his fingertips, wondering how Gunfire would handle the situation.
He Jie scratched his head, "I’m not in the air force. I only know vaguely that some advanced systems rely on electronics, while some lightweight ones have more mechanical backups. Even without electronic controls, they can still take off, though it’s not stable."
Before he could finish, his words were drowned out by the sound of artillery fire.
A row of artillery rose from the rear, aiming at the helicopters in mid-air.
But without electronic control, the artillery was only effective against fixed targets; against the agile helicopters in the sky, it could only make noise.
The helicopter had already crossed the defense line, slaughtering the soldiers in the trench. A round of gunfire turned the whole trench red with blood, and the snow beneath lay still.
But just as the helicopter attempted to pass overhead, a soldier emerged from the side carrying an anti-aircraft machine gun and fired at the helicopter.
The armor of the lightweight utility helicopter couldn’t withstand the dense rain of bullets; after hesitating for a moment, it exploded mid-air like fireworks.
The other two helicopters were also swept down by the "Firepower Hand" hidden in the trenches.
The tragic scene of shooting down planes with guns from the old era gradually became routine operations with the aid of evolution.
Before the gunfire ceased, a Tier One "Controller" emerged, vibrating energy to slaughter the pale demon in the helicopter’s area.
It all took just a few breaths; they had clearly rehearsed it for a long time.
After fighting, a few Evolvers retreated back into the troops, hiding among ordinary soldiers. The combat turned into tedious trench warfare.
Yuri sighed from the side, "On this battle line, Akseyel put in a lot of effort. Every defense line and trench was personally overseen by him, familiar with personnel configuration, and material logistics. It’s not about him seeking credit, but rather he truly poured his heart and soul into it."
Akseyel appeared just below them; Su Huan picked him up, and the latter uncomfortably twisted his neck, then stared closely at Su Huan.
Although he said nothing, he desired Su Huan’s acknowledgment more than anyone.
He was confident in stopping the white calamity, but the lack of high-level combat power meant he had to rely on the train commander in front of him — only a Tier Four could counter a Tier Four.
"What strategic position does this node hold on the battle line?"
Su Huan asked.
"Every node is of this strength!"
Yuri immediately explained.
Akseyel didn’t understand; Yuri was busy answering, while Hu Shuo tried to explain to the Mao Bear general.
Su Huan asked several more questions, not complicated but incisive.
’The timing of the pale demon’s total offensive’ ’how Gunfire handles the missed targets’ ’how to solve the problem of pale demon possession’ and so forth.
Yuri answered each one, then directly asked, "Does the recent combat prove our ability?"
With the burning gaze of the two, Su Huan gave a satisfactory evaluation.
But that was all.
Yuri’s gaze dimmed, Akseyel remained silent.
Su Huan raised his hand, pointing into the distance, "Next, a Tier Three, a dozen Tier Two, and over a hundred Tier One attackers are arriving soon. Are you confident in stopping them?"
"What?!"
Yuri looked out, shocked, "How could there be high-tier Evolvers?"
Su Huan raised an eyebrow in doubt, "After fighting for so long, don’t you know anything about the pale demons?"
Yuri frowned tightly, "In the pale demon war, there are no survivors. If we lose, their numbers increase; if we win, they are annihilated completely. Capturing prisoners is difficult, and pale demons can’t possess Evolvers. The information about Tier Four among them is merely Tasia’s speculation."
"So, can you stop them?"
Su Huan asked again.
Sweat appeared on Yuri’s forehead; maybe if he and Akseyel fought together with artillery support from the rear, they might barely hold them off. But the cost or breaking through would be indistinguishable.
Akseyel said solemnly, "But they are here for you! Gunfire and even the entire Northern Alliance are essentially aiding you!"
Yuri’s expression changed slightly, instinctively looking at Su Huan’s face.
But the train commander seemed to have changed, not showing impatience nor sarcastic laughter, only calmly stated, "If they can’t enter Donghuang, who do you think suffers in the end?"
"Moreover, if you can fight, fight; if not, go home and wait for death. Don’t talk to me about favors, especially considering we have no ties!"
Su Huan stared at him grimly.
Just a look turned the faces of the iron-blood generals from the Northern Alliance pale, their hearts uneasy.
Accompanied by a slight vibration, the rolling snow swept across the horizon, the stout figures making Su Huan focus.
This time the creatures weren’t even human but were Evolution Beasts, fur-heavy and towering like small mountains.
’Apparently, the creatures possessed by the pale demons aren’t limited to humans.’
If that’s the case, things become complicated.
No matter how many White Bears there are, it’s only millions of ordinary people at most. Ordinary people who don’t produce Evolvers, like the Spore Zone’s mushrooms, are no different from the wild grass of the Plant Zone.
But who knows how many Evolution Beasts exist within the Northern Alliance.
