Chapter 247 -161: Platinum Face, Three-foot Sword

Those who study history.

And those who delve so deeply into history are bound to have a certain flair.

“It was just a guess, so I took some precautions. I’m quite curious, though. What sort of Demon Technique is this? Even I couldn’t detect the slightest thing wrong with you.”

Even with his power as a Seventh Realm Yao Guang, Li Dashu couldn’t see anything amiss with the Xue Mingjing before him. The precautions he took were purely instinctual.

Xue Mingjing’s face was grim. “Xue Mingjing? I am he.”

Li Dashu froze for a moment, then his expression darkened.

“Impossible. Brother Xue wouldn’t be taken by Possession so easily.”

In an instant, the two exchanged several blows in the space between them.

Sonic booms tore through the air, and the dark void quaked, shaking the very heavens and earth.

“Oh, it was incredibly easy! HA! I planted a seed in his dreams long before he was Entering Yao Guang.”

The Sect Leader of the Qingshi Sect, a generational talent, used history for his path to Entering the Dao. He tried to use history itself to predetermine his own future—an outcome where he would ascend beyond the Seventh Realm Yao Guang.

In other words,

he wanted to write a “history” that had not yet come to pass.

Such an act was a defiance of the heavens.

If he had succeeded, he would have grasped a piece of the Dao of the future, using it to reverse time and ascend beyond the Seventh Realm Yao Guang.

Unfortunately, he failed.

Just like Xia Lianxue, his failure brought down Celestial Punishment. And at that moment, the Dream Demon, who had hidden in the Mortal World for three thousand years, made its move.

To perform Possession on a Yao Guang, another Yao Guang must be the one to act.

In the eyes of the world, the strongest of the Dream Race was their Clan Leader, a Sixth Realm Kai Yang. But what no one knew was that the Dream Demons had an ancient ancestor—a Dream Demon of old.

The Qingshi Sect had cut itself off from history, and the Dream Demon’s actions were covert, so no one had discovered the problem within the sect.

Li Dashu’s sword strike annihilated several massive phantoms from Ancient Times. He laughed, “Brother Xue doesn’t die that easily. He’s as cunning as a ghost… Fine. No matter what, after I kill you, I’ll go to the Qingshi Sect and find him. It’s fortunate this isn’t happening within my sect’s gates; it spares me the trouble of having my mountain damaged.”

The Dream Demon revealed a strange smile. “And what makes you think you can still leave?”

A colossal sound, impossible to describe with words, suddenly erupted.

It was not the sound of thunder or an explosion, but the shriek of the Law and space itself being torn asunder. In that instant, the world lost all color and sound, as if something was about to descend.

In the distance, the Dream Demon Clan Leader suddenly halted.

The phantom of the Chang’an Daoist that the Dream Demon had summoned also stopped before him.

The two figures began to resonate with a profound power, like opposite poles of a magnet. Amidst a silent tearing of reality, they slowly and irresistibly drew closer until they finally merged into one.

Li Dashu said in disbelief, “Meng Xuanyi was never trying for Ascending to Yao Guang! You’re trying to recreate the Chang’an Daoist!”

Meng Xuanyi, Clan Leader of the Dream Race, at the Kai Yang Peak of the Sixth Realm.

The Dream Demon alone was naturally no match for Li Dashu.

But what if you added a recreated Chang’an Daoist, with Meng Xuanyi at the Peak of the Sixth Realm as its vessel?

Li Dashu let out a cold shout. A clear sword hum soared to the high heavens as a brilliant stream of Sword Qi shot forth in response. At first, the Sword Qi was but a single thread of light, but it swelled in an instant, transforming into a majestic river of light that spanned the entire sky.

The edge of the Sword Qi pointed directly at Meng Xuanyi as Li Dashu’s voice rang out, “It’s nothing more than an incomplete phantom.”

This Chang’an Daoist was incomplete. He only had the Platinum Face; the Three-foot Sword was not yet in his hand.

So what if there was one more of them?

He, Li Dashu, could still fight two on one.

The Sect Leader of the Qingcao Sword Sect, who had fought his way out of chaos, was not nearly as weak as they imagined.

The Dream Demon sketched a few more lines of history. “So, once the Chang’an Daoist gets his hands on that sword, you’re a dead man.”

They could no longer get Broken Thought.

But there was another sword here that the Chang’an Daoist had once used.

Li Dashu now understood that the Dream Race had made a move against the Qingcao Sword Sect. No longer holding back, he unleashed his sword again, attempting to break away.

CLANG!

Something had blocked his sword.

It was a heavy, black Forehead-level Staff that extended from the clouds to stop him.

From behind the staff, a man as burly as Li Dashu opened his eyes. Though his aura was somewhat weak and an old injury scarred the corner of his eye, his Cultivation was still terrifying.

“Best you go no further!”

A Seventh Realm Yao Guang of the Demon Race.

The Ape Lord—Yuan Feng!

The Dream Demon laughed maniacally. “All the prodigies of your Human Race will become the progeny of my Dream Race! The Human Race is finished.”

Two Yao Guang cultivators blocked Li Dashu’s path.

Meng Xuanyi, now the Chang’an Daoist, broke through the Cloud Sea and shot toward the Qingcao Sword Sect as a streak of light.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Qiu Yuehan sheathed her sword.
With a single strike, she had heavily wounded the disciple from the Corpse Puppet Sect.
She had held back, in the end.
Killing someone during the Celestial Dao Grand Competition would not reflect well on the Miao Yu Palace’s reputation.
She, Qiu Yuehan, did not care, but she had to consider the Little Fairy, who was like a sister to her.
Rain spattered against her face.
Qiu Yuehan suddenly felt a little dazed. The dream from last night flooded her mind like a returning tide.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, banishing the illusory images from her mind and becoming clear-headed once more.
Then she raised her head, her gaze turning to the sky.
Those were no longer ordinary clouds.
High in the Celestial Vault, the ink-black clouds were suddenly permeated by another kind of light—a deep, flowing blue that instantly saturated the entire Cloud Sea.
Immediately after, the massive and intricate lines of an array unfurled across the sky, shimmering with a dreamlike radiance.
A Dream Demon Array.
This wasn’t a newly constructed Array.
Rather, the Dream Demon Race had paid the price of several Dream Demons to dismantle the Array from their own Cloud Sea, merge it into the Original Dream Sea of those sacrificed, and then reassemble it outside the Qingcao Sword Sect.
That was why Lu Changyuan had been able to slip into the Cloud Sea so easily—the core of the Grand Array had been transported here.
