Chapter 245 -160: Satiated

‘Why is there a stone stele here, and why is the original incantation of the Heaven-Stealing Substitute Body Technique carved on it?’

Lu Changyuan’s expression suddenly turned grim.

He recalled something.

This Spell had been around since he began his Cultivation, but no one could say for certain who created it; it had simply been passed down through the ages.

But the inherited versions were merely transcribed copies; the location of the true original had always been a mystery.

Now, it seemed, the one before him was the original.

The pieces fell into place.

The Dream Demon Race’s Possession technique was terrifyingly subtle; those around the victim would never be able to tell. Only because Su Youwan cultivated the Destined Celestial Dao, which allowed her to perceive a person’s fate, could she sense that something was amiss. But that was because Su Youwan herself was an anomaly; it didn’t detract from the sheer potency of the Dream Demons’ methods.

Enter a dream, take Possession, and replace the host.

‘This Heaven-Stealing Substitute Body Technique was created by an ancestor of the Dream Demons!’

‘The Dream Demons had an ancestor this powerful?’

As if a thought struck him, Lu Changyuan turned to Su Youwan. “Miss Su, among the Three Thousand Great Demons, was there one associated with dreams?”

In truth, Lu Changyuan already knew the answer.

POP!

A section of the clouds not far away was pulled open.

Something had stepped into the Cloud Sea.

Lu Changyuan and Su Youwan looked up simultaneously. An ethereal, humanoid figure appeared, then froze on the spot the moment it saw them.

It was the Sixth Realm Dream Demon that had escaped.

It had fled in a panic, even venturing into the Mortal World to hide its identity. After lurking outside for several days and seeing that Su Youwan and Lu Changyuan hadn’t given chase, it finally returned to the Cloud Sea.

But it never imagined that Lu Changyuan and Su Youwan hadn’t chased it at all; they had come straight to its home in the Cloud Sea instead.

Staring at the devastated Cloud Sea and the empty dream bubbles, the Dream Demon let out a piercing shriek, “What have you done to my clan’s Dream Sea?!”

Lu Changyuan’s reaction was instantaneous. Broken Thought appeared in his hand, and he lunged forward to strike.

Meanwhile, behind the Dream Demon, a net woven from countless Silver Needles shimmered with a heart-stopping light as it closed in.

Only then did the Dream Demon realize it was no match for Lu Changyuan and Su Youwan.

Its home for the past century had been destroyed in an instant, and its rage was so great it had even forgotten to flee.

Lu Changyuan’s sword was upon it. The Dream Demon pulled a whip made of pure cloud from a nearby bank and met his charge.

An Ink-Wash of energy splashed onto the cloud whip.

“Solidify!”

The ink-blackened Broken Thought sliced through the cloud whip and lopped off the Dream Demon’s arm, sending a spray of blue blood through the air.

The Dream Demon stared at Lu Changyuan in disbelief. Logically, it was a Sixth Realm being, and no matter how powerful Lu Changyuan was, he was still only in the Fifth Realm. How could a single strike leave it in such a wretched state?

It turned its head to look at the Silver-haired Maiden nearby, only to realize that she seemed to have already woven a specific fate—the fate of it being slain.

Its Original Dream Sea had already been partially devoured by Lu Changyuan, and its injuries had not yet healed. To make matters worse, it was now facing Lu Changyuan, who had just feasted and was at his peak. Defeat was a foregone conclusion.

Lu Changyuan reached out, hoisted the Dream Demon high into the air, and pointed his sword at its head.

“Talk. What are you all trying to do? And your ancestor—when did they escape their seal?”

The Dream Demon’s body tried to fade into an ethereal state, but Lu Changyuan used a technique that forced illusion into reality, locking it in solid form. Hearing Lu Changyuan’s questions, it began to tremble violently.

‘I never thought anyone could know so many of our clan’s secrets,’ it thought. But that no longer mattered. It had already completed its mission.

“Ha!” The Dream Demon suddenly laughed. “It’s too late! Your Human Race has oppressed us for thousands of years, and now it’s your turn! The Human Race is doomed!”

RUMBLE!

Thunder rolled from within the clouds.

“My clan has staked the lives of every single one of its members! Every last one!”

The Dream Demon’s body abruptly exploded.

His face grim, Lu Changyuan gazed at the distant clouds. Dark thunderheads were gathering there, promising a torrential downpour.
