Min Province.

Bunker.

"Power’s out! Damn it!"

Song Tianyi hurriedly ran to the platform leading upwards, looked through the peephole, and saw the sun had come out.

He cautiously opened the door, sunlight streamed in, and he was immediately blinded by the intense light.

Bang!

He quickly shut the door, leaned against it, and shouted loudly.

Even though his wife was at odds with him, she came over upon hearing the noise.

"What’s going on?" his wife said coldly.

"The solar radiation is strong, the light is fierce, don’t open the door. Get me some water." Song Tianyi said, closing his eyes with tears streaming down.

"Okay."

"By the way, get me the walkie-talkie too."

"Okay."

His wife still brought the water and walkie-talkie and handed them to him.

Although she had major issues with her husband, she understood one thing after calming down: if he died, she probably wouldn’t survive either.

For herself and the child, she needed this man to take the lead.

The man took the water and walkie-talkie from her, splashed water on his eyes a couple of times, and after feeling better, attempted to open his eyes, but the pain was unbearable.

Helpless, he could only hand the walkie-talkie to his wife.

"Contact Lin Zhengzhong, ask about the situation on his side, whether it’s just us who lost power, and see if he has anyone who can help fix it," Song Tianyi said.

His wife hesitated but eventually pressed the walkie-talkie’s button, trying to reach Lin Zhengzhong.

However, there was no response from the walkie-talkie.

"The walkie-talkie’s not working, maybe it’s broken," his wife said.

"How is that possible?! Try another one," he said emotionally.

He was already having bad thoughts.

The power outage and the useless walkie-talkie, could it be related to the strong solar radiation outside?

His wife switched to another one, nervously saying, "Still not working, what do we do now."

He slowly supported himself against the wall and walked down.

"Where are you going?" his wife asked.

"To rest, my eyes hurt too much. Once they’re better, I’ll go find him myself," Song Tianyi responded.

His wife saw him trying to walk along the wall, stumbling on his way.

The dissatisfaction she felt dissipated a lot.

She hesitated but ended up helping him down.

After using a cold towel in the bunker for two hours, he could finally open his eyes clearly.

Inside the bunker, a small flickering light glowed.

Upon closer inspection, it was a diesel lamp.

Song Tianyi gently rubbed his eyes and glanced at his wife sitting on the stool, staring at him.

He sighed, got up silently, walked into the storage room, and took out his black jumpsuit, put on his Martin boots, and fastened a motorcycle visor.

Finally, he grabbed a gun and stepped onto the stairs.

Gingerly pushing the door open, the sunlight hitting him felt very hot, but not as scorching as before.

He went out.

Closed the door.

Ten minutes later.

He arrived outside a bunker entrance, which was the largest bunker on their side.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Knocking on the door.

"Who?" came a voice from inside.

"Song Tianyi, I’m looking for Lin," he answered.

The door opened, but nobody was visible, Song Tianyi thought the person who answered must be hiding behind the door.

He stepped inside, bang!

The door was immediately shut.

"Follow me," the guard glanced at him and walked down without a word.

Song Tianyi followed behind, entering a massive bunker.

The bunker was more than ten meters high with expansive views, dotted with diesel lamps inside.

Soon.

Song Tianyi was brought before Lin Zhengzhong.

Lin Zhengzhong raised his head and said to Song Tianyi:

"Old Song, you see, it’s out here too.

If you’re here because of that, sorry, I currently can’t solve it either.

My experts say it’s likely caused by a magnetic storm; even if we repair the power system, it must wait until the storm ends.

Moreover, they don’t know when the storm will subside."

Song Tianyi had prepared a lot to say, but nothing was useful now.

"What do we do then?" he asked.

Lin Zhengzhong thought for a moment and said, "Wait."

"When I came over, I didn’t see nuclear-radiated zombies," Song Tianyi remarked.

Lin Zhengzhong frowned slightly and said, "With solar radiation so strong, they probably hid. But those zombies... must be lured away, otherwise allowing them to wander will pollute the soil on the surface and eventually seep into groundwater, and we’ll be in trouble with our drinking water."

"What about the power outage?" Song Tianyi asked.

"Wait, I told you, didn’t I? Our power system is collapsed too, we can only wait! But for now, we must lure away the zombies, it can’t be delayed anymore.

After a storm, our groundwater’s nuclear radiation exceeded critical levels; if we stay too long, we’ll die from water contamination issues!"

Song Tianyi’s heart sank, asking, "That serious?"

Lin Zhengzhong said helplessly, "Brother, these are nuclear-radiated zombies! Do you understand nuclear radiation?"

His tone wasn’t great.

But Song Tianyi understood him.

"Alright, just tell me what to do, I’ll listen to you," Song Tianyi agreed.

Lin Zhengzhong’s expression improved upon hearing that.
