Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person
Chapter 723 - 594: That Kid Needs a Lesson
"The housekeeping is mostly done, though a few individuals are lagging behind and haven’t finished their tasks. They can handle it themselves later. We’ve found a suitable spot for the Heroic Martyrs Park, located in the scenic area. It’s on a flat piece of land a little over a hundred meters up the mountainside past the temple. Cao Duoliang said it’s perfect. I don’t know much about feng shui, but it looks pleasing to the eye..."
In the restaurant, Yuwen sits across from Zhang Su, reporting on the work carried out throughout the day, piece by piece, leaving nothing out yet speaking concisely.
Not only have the people from Satellite Village increased, but so have those from the Celestial Horse Island accommodation area. Recently, Ding Yong Country and Zheng Ziwen, uncle and nephew, have arrived, along with the Wang Family, as well as temporary Yama Corps members Zhou Haotian and Ke Zhiyu. Additionally, Zuo Fengjuan has been assigned to the laboratory.
With the growing population, the already crowded Little Lucky Restaurant has become overwhelmed, prompting the opening of another restaurant. Little Lucky serves as the dining area for core members, while the dining area at Qingfeng Courtyard is used as a cafeteria for the new residents on the mountain.
Though another restaurant has opened, meal preparation remains centralized in the kitchen of Little Lucky.
"The person you arranged to manage, Yang Dongxin, is an extremely adaptable individual. He’s quickly learned the ropes of warehouse management and indeed has a solid foundation. Liu Yao and Wu Baokang mentioned to me that they hope to organize systematic training for combat personnel soon. Village No.2..."
Zhang Su patiently listens to Yuwen’s report, just as Tan Huajun and Mo Qianlan enter the restaurant. He smiles and says, "Old Yu, you’ve done well, but let me remind you not to overwork yourself. If you have the chance, do some exercise. I see you’re still strong in your old age!"
From today, Yuwen has completely stopped participating in Yama Corps training, focusing instead on overseeing camp development, being the sole member of the Yama Corps not to engage in training. As he ages, continued strain would not yield the best results, so it’s better to leverage his strengths.
Yuwen chuckles, patting his arm, "Don’t worry, Mr. Zhang. I stay active while managing various affairs. I even did eighty push-ups today. Oh, Xiaotan, you’re here! Haha, you’re not very eager to eat today. Come, have a chat with Mr. Zhang."
Seeing Tan Huajun approach the table, Yuwen, being perceptive, understands that Zhang Su wants to talk to Tan, so he stands up with his tray.
"Lanlan, join Grandpa Yu for a meal while I chat with your mom."
Zhang Su nudges Mo Qianlan aside.
"Okay! But I’ve got to help my mom with her food first, bleh bleh bleh."
Mo Qianlan makes a face, hopping off to the food area, bouncing around like a lively butterfly, nodding to everyone she passes, eliciting smiles all around.
"Brother Su, you’re probably wondering about Brother Wang and Xiaotao, right?"
Tan Huajun sits down, looking around, noticing that everyone has deliberately kept some distance from Zhang Su, clearly giving him a good space to talk.
Zhang Su nods, "That’s right. Old Wang went on a mission with you today; how’s he doing?"
Regarding this old friend who once fought alongside him, Zhang Su hopes he can truly pull himself together and contribute to the camp.
"Very capable and willing to work hard."
Tan Huajun takes a breath, showing a strange expression, "Brother Wang is diligent and hardworking, doing the work of two people by himself. Physically, he’s perfectly fine, even more robust and vigorous than most people, carrying a hundred pounds of corn without flinching... Oh, and I also found out how he got his injury!
During an escape, a companion accidentally knocked over a charcoal brazier in a panic, tripping him in the process, leading to his burns. Fortunately, they had medication at the time, saving his life!"
"Life on the run can be harsh..."
Zhang Su shakes his head helplessly, noticing Tan Huajun’s unusual expression and says, "Judging by your expression, you seem dissatisfied with something? Is it Wang Zhetao?"
Given the praise for Wang Guangjun’s diligence but his faint disdain, there must be a reason.
"Sigh..." Tan Huajun sighs, seeing her daughter Mo Qianlan coming over with a tray, laughs and continues, "That kid is smart but overly cunning. Brother Wang grabs at work, while he... He’s all smiles in front of me but does nothing behind my back."
"How so?"
Through his sunglasses, Zhang Su looks at Tan Huajun, seeing her a bit hesitant, and says, "Old Tan, don’t worry. Old Wang is Old Wang and Wang Zhetao is Wang Zhetao; I won’t lump them together."
"In front of me, Wang Zhetao shows great enthusiasm, but he doesn’t know that I’ve asked Boss Zhang to keep an eye on him. Boss Zhang told me that Wang Zhetao only seems active when I’m around; otherwise, he slacks off!"
Tan Huajun shrugs helplessly, starting to eat as her stomach has started to grumble.
"That kid certainly needs some discipline. I bet Old Wang has pampered him too much, never letting him endure hardship, which is why he’s like this. Of course, some of it’s his own character too."
Zhang Su’s eyes reveal displeasure. In the Yama Corps, or even in Satellite Village, few are like Wang Zhetao. In the current circumstances, having a safe place to stay, everyone is eager to work hard. Everyone has the awareness of mutual support.
"I just feel bad for Brother Wang, who went through so much to save Wang Zhetao, yet that kid has no ambition,"
As a single mom, Tan Huajun takes great care in Mo Qianlan’s upbringing.
She’s always been like that, but even more so now. While Mo Qianlan temporarily hasn’t joined the Yama Corps due to age and physical reasons, Tan Huajun keeps her occupied with learning zombie combat techniques, bomb-making skills, and physical fitness training, leaving nothing out.
"You think Wang Zhetao lacks ambition? He desperately wants to get ahead, constantly trying to impress me, geez."
Hearing Tan Huajun’s words, Zhang Su laughs in frustration.
This guy is irritating, not making major mistakes but constantly exhibiting minor faults, always opportunistically reading the room. In the past, a person like him could surely earn some money, if not become affluent, but those times have passed.
Then the two continue eating in silence, discussing details of missions outside.
"Brother Su, I’m going to ask Zhou Haotian something."
After dinner, Zhong Xiaoshan approaches Zhang Su with a bankbook in hand in the small courtyard.
"Mm, go ahead. I’ll stroll around. Oh, and tell that kid to put more effort into training; what he did this afternoon was pathetic!"
Zhang Su waves dismissively, a bit annoyed.
"Alright, got it."
Zhong Xiaoshan replies with a smile, holding the bankbook as she walks toward Qingfeng Courtyard. As she reaches the restaurant door, the lively chatter inside bursts out. She pushes the door open, and all eyes turn to her, silencing the room.
"Second sister-in-law?"
Liu Tianji, who didn’t go to Little Lucky for dinner, accompanied Ke Zhiyu to the newly opened restaurant and was curious upon seeing Zhong Xiaoshan, "Um... Is something up?"
"Second sister-in-law? Dr. Zhong is here, have you eaten?"
Wang Guangjun, hearing Liu Tianji’s words and knowing Zhong Xiaoshan arrived, turns to the blurry figure at the door to greet her.
Zhong Xiaoshan closes the door and responds loudly, "Xiaoliu, Brother Wang. I’ve eaten. I’m here to... find Zhou Haotian."
