Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person
Chapter 664 - 546: Hurry Up and Divide the Cake
Qi Dabin’s face showed no expression upon hearing Xie Guangfa’s words, but his heart skipped a beat. Sure enough, before he could speak, someone else had already voiced their opinion.
"I agree with Brother Xie. The conditions in this village are a bit poor, but that young woman said they’ll rearrange things once their leader returns. We shouldn’t rush."
"Even if they rearrange, where could we end up living? Their own people will definitely live in the good houses on the hill, and we’ll still be at the bottom."
Someone immediately refuted, thinking the idea was too optimistic.
"The mountain roads are narrow, and they’ve built walls. Look at the bottom of the hill, wide open with no barriers. Damn, if zombies pass by, they can directly charge into the yard. Can this be compared to the mountain?"
"You can’t say it like that, the mountain has its advantages, but the bottom isn’t completely worthless..."
"Enough!"
Qi Dabin raised his hand, stopping the argument. He sighed deeply and set the tone: "We’ve overcome hardships and dangers to survive better. This village is obviously unsafe!"
He paused, then looked at Xie Guangfa: "Old Xie, I know you’re sentimental, but I must consider everyone’s future safety. Based on what you said earlier, I’ll ask you this: if we decide to go against Celestial Horse Island, will you join us?"
People in the village don’t like beating around the bush, so Qi Dabin was direct.
Xie Guangfa slowly raised his head to glance at Qi Dabin, then lowered it again, rubbing his leg, and said slowly: "Why? If I say I won’t join, do you plan to take me out first?"
Squeak, squeak.
The sound of rubbing legs suddenly intensified as the room fell silent.
"What kind of bullshit is that? I mean if you don’t want to move, then stay here. We’ll call you once it’s done!"
Qi Dabin was clearly compromising, deciding not to provoke this powder keg but to stabilize it first.
This straightforward communication was highly efficient...
"Staying here alone makes me anxious, so it’s all in or nothing."
Xie Guangfa said blandly.
Upon hearing this, the person who’d spoken up earlier felt deflated. In his mind, he thought, you damn cripple without any principles, you just gave in like that?
Big Bull, who had just been kicked, had similar thoughts. Standing on the heated brick bed, he made faces and cursed Xie Guangfa’s ancestors for eighteen generations.
"Alright, with Old Xie’s invincible magic leg, victory is within reach!"
Qi Dabin quietly exhaled, raised his hand, and said to everyone: "Meng Changwei’s main reason for not wanting to act is Zhang Su. If Zhang Su dies, he won’t have any concerns, and we’ll have a chance to cooperate!"
"Boss, when did Zhang Su die?"
Big Bull felt that Xie Guangfa agreeing to join meant giving up, and the face he’d lost earlier was regained, so he hurriedly chimed in for attention.
"If you lack brains, don’t interrupt. Listen carefully, when it’s your turn to act, you’ll know, understand?"
Qi Dabin’s head throbbed hearing Big Bull speak.
"Oh, okay." Big Bull felt particularly wronged, complaining about someone spraying him with a water bottle, cursing him as a cripple, and now being scolded for asking a question. It was too difficult.
"Boss, do you already have a plan?"
Monkey was clearly sharper than Big Bull, following up on Qi Dabin’s words.
"That’s right, come closer and listen to me!"
Qi Dabin moved into the crowd and, once everyone was near, quietly shared his plans. As he spoke, the people’s eyes grew brighter, except for Xie Guangfa, sitting on the edge of the brick bed, his expression unwavering, seemingly uninterested in the plans.
Meanwhile, in another compound in Village No.1, Meng Changwei was tidying up the brick bed, very efficiently.
Previously, Yang Liehuo had gathered the villagers to seek refuge on Celestial Horse Island, and everyone thought something major had happened, hurriedly rolled up their bedding, and left. The room was incredibly messy.
But this was no issue for people from Bridge Town. Their camp was originally in the village, so they were experienced with rural life: four people to a brick bed, eight people to a compound, and over twenty people divided into three compounds, arranged in a triangular formation for mutual support.
"Boss, I found some zombie fragments in the utility room. I’ll use them to light the stove. Whew, it’s damn cold!"
A young man carrying a wooden bucket walked into the house, his face bright red from the cold, exhaling white mist.
Meng Changwei, laying the brick bed sheets, glanced over and said speechlessly: "Xiaowei, you really don’t consider yourself an outsider, huh? You didn’t even ask, just burning their stuff. Didn’t we bring our own bodies? Use those!"
"Whole bodies need to be dismembered, it’s too troublesome. Just use these first, and we’ll make it up later. Master Zhang won’t be so stingy."
Another man in his forties smiled as he spoke.
"Wow, Master Zhang is so rich. There are so many zombie corpses at the bottom, they could burn for a year. It doesn’t matter, haha. By the way, where did Master Zhang go? In this freezing weather, zombies have grown stronger, and he’s not staying on the mountain properly. What’s he doing outside?"
Xiaowei chatted idly while lighting the stove.
"Maintaining a camp of hundreds isn’t so easy, you think? Every day it takes two hundred pounds of white flour just to eat; there’s plenty to deal with!"
Meng Changwei shook his head, thinking his subordinates had simple minds and carefree lives. He wanted that too. So after leaving Bridge Castle, he didn’t consider setting up a new base elsewhere; he came to Celestial Horse Island, not for anything else, just to lighten his burden...
