Tan Huajun understood Zhang Su’s character and quickly nodded, "I get it, the young man is strong and healthy, he needs to make his own way!"

She also had children herself, so how could she not see Wang Zhetao’s flaws? It’s almost like a common problem among today’s college students. They can manage a bit better without their parents around, but as soon as there’s someone they can rely on, they don’t want to push themselves at all!

"Alright, go on quickly, Old Wang and the others are almost ready."

Zhang Su glanced back and said.

Three vehicles, with ten people in each, it was tough, but for the people of Niu YaZI, it wasn’t a problem. If you couldn’t fit up front, there was always the trunk; you could squeeze three people in there side by side, no problem!

Driving slowly posed no danger, but if you needed to accelerate quickly, a few might just fly out...

"Hubby, hubby, has Uncle Wang really come?"

Zhang Su returned to the tank, and Zheng Xinyu’s voice came through the intercom.

She was on lookout at the front of the convoy, not daring to leave her post, keeping her curiosity in check without rushing to the back, just asking around for information and seeing Zhang Su and his group return, she contacted immediately.

"That’s right, it’s Old Wang. This group of people are the Niu YaZI survivors who contacted us last night! Let’s leave this for now, inform everyone to be alert and get going!"

Zhang Su replied and gave the order.

The convoy set off again, with three additional vehicles and twenty-eight more people, the team was growing stronger.

Inside the tank, Zhang Su exhaled deeply, his face full of emotion. He rarely showed this expression in front of others.

The formidable strength of zombies made everyone feel the pressure. Still, it was precisely because of the increasing external pressure that survivors scattered in various places inadvertently gathered together.

There were those with ill intentions, like the rogues from Absolute Justice and Bajiazi Village, and there were people like Ding Yong Country and the Niu YaZI survivors who genuinely wanted to band together for warmth. But after months in the apocalypse, Zhang Su realized one thing: more people doesn’t necessarily mean more strength!

When more people gather, various drawbacks and problems begin to emerge: troublemakers, parasites, idlers. These phenomena will start to sprout.

Only when these problems are effectively controlled can the power of the many truly be demonstrated.

The large convoy, even on roads wide enough for two or three vehicles to go side by side, stretched for four to five hundred meters; such a big commotion naturally was not peaceful.

From the city center to the North Second Ring Road, a distance of ten kilometers, they encountered no less than ten waves of zombie attacks. Although there were no more than twenty zombies each time, it still slowed down their overall progress.

Even so, Zhang Su didn’t send anyone ahead to scout the road. Nowadays zombies are powerful, and going it alone could easily lead to trouble. It’s better for the main force to move slowly, at least steadily; there’s no need to rush!

Originally, he thought some more survivors might pop up along this stretch, at least Zhang Su hoped so, but unfortunately, none did.

Reaching the traditional boundary between the city and the suburbs, Zhang Su stopped the tank and looked back. The high-rises were lined up, yet it was desolate and dilapidated, the whole city exuding melancholy.

If the city were human, then its people would be its lifeblood. Without the nourishment of blood, the city would gradually die in the wind, rain, and snow.

After getting on the North Second Ring Road, the situation didn’t ease despite this area being previously sparsely populated. Some zombies, previously trapped in villages, were now running about. Not only were there more ordinary zombies attacking the convoy, but large figures also began to appear.

The challenges were gradually becoming severe, with more combat personnel engaged in the task of killing zombies. There was no room for clever tricks; encountered zombies had to be thoroughly dealt with. If the bodies couldn’t be carried away, they weren’t randomly discarded, but piled on a ridge, to be collected at a later opportunity.

If the city was bleak and filled with the aura of death, then the wilds of the suburbs were truly covered with death. Anywhere you looked, there were zombie corpses lying around.

The convoy moved slowly, often under attack, but due to abundant strength, they were always without danger even if someone got injured. Most injuries were sprains, bruises, or twists caused by the cold weather, the overall atmosphere was relatively relaxed, with smiles on people’s faces. But down in Satellite Village at the foot of Celestial Horse Island Mountain, it was different, the mood was oppressively tense.

"They’re on the mountain with the heater running, comfortable and cozy, while we’re freezing and starving here. Look at this, the blanket’s all torn to shreds, what rubbish!"

In a residential house, Big Bull stood on the kang, shaking the quilt in his hands and grumbling.

Inside the room, more than ten people were gathered, seven sitting on the big kang. A few people were squatting in the middle of the room, both men and women, several were smoking, and smoke drifted in the air.

After leaving the gate of Celestial Horse Island Mountain, Meng Changwei led everyone down to the village. Facing Satellite Village, which could house hundreds of people, the thirty or so people quickly divided up the houses, and the people from Bridge Town were bustling with housekeeping, but here they were plotting something big!

"Having a place to stay is good enough, don’t blame the situation!"

A man with a worried face rubbed his leg. He didn’t like hearing Big Bull’s complaints.

"That’s not how it is. Our Flying Wolf Gang was living comfortably in Shihu Town. If it weren’t for the zombies suddenly growing stronger, we wouldn’t be in this mess now. Nowadays it’s survival of the bold and death of the timid, just like you Old Lame, who doesn’t care about anything!"

Big Bull flung the quilt onto the kang, his face full of displeasure.
