Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One
Chapter 518 - 527: Anger
Chapter 518: Chapter 527: Anger
There, on a dilapidated wall, stood a figure.
Amid the swirling dust, they could only make out that it was a tall woman; her features were indistinct.
But that didn’t lessen their shock.
Judging by her words, she was responsible for everything that had just happened inside Sanctyr Base.
’Who was this person? They’d never seen her before. How could she be so bold as to cause a scene at Sanctyr Base?’
The problem was, she had actually managed to throw Sanctyr Base into utter chaos.
And after all this time, a force as powerful as Sanctyr Base still hadn’t caught her. Instead, they’d let her act so brazenly, even provoking Boss Saint right to his face.
’Just who is this woman?’
Stella Sterling had now reverted to her original appearance. The men of the Three Tigers Squad didn’t recognize her, though her voice sounded vaguely familiar. They just couldn’t quite place it.
But Zane Xavier’s expression changed, and his body began to tremble.
’Miss Sterling... It really is Miss Sterling.’
’So I wasn’t mistaken before. That figure I saw really was Miss Sterling.’
She wasn’t just inside Sanctyr Base—she had thrown the whole place into this state.
’She actually attacked Sanctyr Base!!!’
’Th-th-that’s... unbelievably audacious! How could Miss Sterling dare?’
’This is Sanctyr Base’s headquarters! How could she dare to come alone?’
’Even if she brought backup, a small team like that would be no match for Sanctyr Base.’
’He couldn’t understand why Miss Sterling would do this!’
’Weren’t she and Boss Saint on good terms before?’
Even though she had hijacked him and his plane.
But he never thought she had any real grudge against Sanctyr Base. It seemed like just a bit of friction.
There was absolutely no need to escalate things with Sanctyr Base to this degree over something so minor.
There had to be something else going on between them for Miss Sterling to recklessly attack Sanctyr Base like this.
Zane Xavier’s mind was in turmoil, a complete mess. He couldn’t make sense of any of this.
If his reason hadn’t held him back, he would have already walked over to Miss Sterling.
But now, he glanced at the men of the Three Tigers beside him, and then back at Miss Sterling.
He decided to stay put for the time being.
’Even if I join Miss Sterling now, one extra person won’t change the outcome.’
’That’s why I can’t be rash. I have to hold back. If Miss Sterling fails, at least I’ll be here to figure out a rescue. We can’t all get wiped out in one go.’
He took a deep breath, doing his best to make his reaction match everyone else’s.
Miles Sanctus stared at the figure, his expression growing even darker than before.
After a long moment, he forced himself to calm down. He took a few deep breaths, and an unnerving smile even appeared on his face. "Miss Sterling, you’ve arrived. Sanctyr Base always welcomes you, so why make such a grand entrance? Had you simply sent word, I, Miles, would have come to greet you personally. There was no need for all this!"
With that, he took two steps forward.
His gaze, however, swept over the surroundings. Sanctyr Base was in complete disarray, with several areas destroyed.
Some of Sanctyr Base’s men were in the process of rounding people up; it seemed they were the ones who had caused the commotion.
And Stella Sterling was the mastermind behind it all.
’Did she bring her people from Caeluna Base to attack us?’
Miles Sanctus’s eyes locked onto Stella Sterling again. Though his heart was blazing with fury, his face remained fixed in a smile.
The leaders of the smaller factions gaped when they heard Miles Sanctus’s words. ’Boss Saint actually knows this intruder?’
’So it really is a personal grudge between them.’
And for Boss Saint to still be able to smile at a time like this... his composure was truly something else. If it were them, they would have charged forward and torn the woman to shreds long ago.
Then again, this woman was no simple character either. To be able to infiltrate the interior of a base as well-defended as Sanctyr Base, and to do so without a trace before causing this much chaos...
’True. If she didn’t have some serious power, how could she dare to attack Sanctyr Base?’
As for the men of the Three Tigers Corps, they froze for a moment when they heard Miles Sanctus say ’Miss Sterling’.
’Is it a coincidence?’
Just then, Stella Sterling spoke, her eyes crinkling in a smile. "If I’d called ahead, how could I have given Boss Saint such a lovely surprise?"
"Things like this are more fun when they’re done quietly, don’t you think? So? Are you thrilled?"
As she spoke, Stella Sterling leaped down from the crumbling high wall, kicking up another cloud of dust.
At that moment, Hunter Night’s expression shifted drastically.
He’d had his suspicions before, but now he was certain.
The person leading the invasion of Sanctyr Base was the very same Miss Sterling who had briefly stayed at the Three Tigers Corps’ camp. Her voice was identical.
He didn’t know why this Miss Sterling looked different from the one he remembered.
But he was absolutely sure they were one and the same.
’Otherwise, why would their voices be identical, and why would everyone else also call her Miss Sterling?’
As the realization dawned on him, a sudden sense of foreboding washed over him.
Meanwhile, another one of his subordinates began to tremble slightly—from fear.
He whispered, "If anyone finds out something’s off, we’re finished!"
After speaking, he glanced at Zane Xavier, his voice low. "Brother Xavier, what the hell is going on?"
Now he finally understood why Zane Xavier had been acting so strangely all day.
’Could it be that he knew about this all along?’
At this thought, a flicker of displeasure crossed Hunter Night’s eyes.
’If he knew all along, and he still led the men of the Three Tigers Corps into Sanctyr Base... was he trying to get them all killed?’
If they weren’t in Sanctyr Base, with Miles Sanctus and all the others standing right there, Hunter Night would have already decked Zane Xavier.
He didn’t care what they were up to. Their beef with Sanctyr Base had nothing to do with him.
He might even have helped them if he got the chance, considering they’d helped him in the past.
But they had dragged his people into this mess.
Zane Xavier saw his expression and knew Hunter Night had misunderstood. He gave a slight shake of his head. "Trust me, it’s not what you think. I’ll explain later!"
Then he lowered his voice again and added, "For now, none of us know this intruder. Whatever you do, don’t give us away!"
Hunter Night froze for a second before he understood.
