Apocalypse Online: Regression of SSS-Class Summoner
Chapter 193: Guild Master’s Arrival
Enzo shook his head. "It’s not worth it to risk our lives and abandon our post."
Max laughed. "You can’t just defend, you can use an attack as a pretext. If you return and bring the head of a monster chieftain, then spout nonsense about taking your entire party to capture it, the Commander will definitely overlook your selfish action."
"What if the S-rank noticed our activity?"
"S-rankers are naturally quiet. You can give them a treasure as a form of bribe.
It’s not like you are doing something illegal. You are not even a military official for them to be strict towards you and impose their laws upon you.
At the end of the day, you operate within your Guild’s interest. As long as it benefits the Guild and does not violate the laws of the Empire, then you are good.
Trust me, I’ve studied the Imperial Laws for nothing."
Enzo sighed and helplessly nodded.
Although he appeared unwilling, deep down, he was interested in the treasures, as well.
I wonder how many millions of dollars will I receive if I sell them? Just thinking about it thrilled him.
Max chatted with Enzo and his friends for a while, joining their meetings.
He offered a lot of insights that actually surprised Enzo.
Max’s knowledge not only in the game but also of how the Empire worked itself was enlightening.
Max only explained that he studied in his residence’s library for a reason.
When they were finished, Max tactfully left, not wanting to exchange contact information with them.
Thankfully, Enzo had already informed his friends of how introverted his brother was, not by circumstances but by choice.
Max slept for the remaining hours until evening, having been called by Auntie Sarah for dinner.
Auntie Sarah invited Enzo’s friends to dine with them since their table was long enough to accommodate them.
Looking at the lively guests eating to their heart’s content, despite feeling uncomfortable at first, Max managed to genuinely smile.
Compared to his past life, his current life was indeed vibrant and peaceful.
Once they were finished, Max didn’t personally send Enzo’s friends off as he logged into the game, just in time to catch sight of his Demon Hunter Guild’s headquarters.
...
The Demon Hunter Guild’s headquarters was almost the size of a town.
It was inevitable. At the moment, there were almost 3,000 members, which was almost equivalent to the size of a town.
At the same time, most of them were NPCs, some were retired veterans, while some were young ones whose lives had turned for the worse because of the Dark Mage’s activities.
And the Demon Hunters Guild was only established three months ago.
Staring at it, Max felt an immense sense of pride.
If he was to ask whether he wanted to build a Guild when he regressed to the past, he would have brushed it off.
He acknowledged he was not the type of person to lead a Guild.
But he needed manpower to deal with the demons even when he was already a Summoner.
The Demon Hunters Guild headquarters occupied a large walled compound, almost resembling a fortress.
There were knights and scouts stationed on the gate.
When they saw Joel, the famous beast tamer who always accompanied the Executive Commander, the knights and scouts hurried to welcome him.
At the same time, they curiously stared at the person riding the horse that was supposed to be ridden by two individuals.
The Executive Commander and...
Their eyes widened.
The Guild Master!
Max’s face was fully revealed to them.
Although they were a bit disappointed that he was not as handsome as the hearsay, his disposition and aura were no lesser than those of the founding members of the Demon Hunters Guild.
Which actually baffled them.
For all they knew, the Guild Master was C-rank.
Yet, the person in front of them exuded an immense pressure that only B-rank possessed.
They remained silent, not wanting to express the speculations in their heads, as they greeted Joel with a bow.
Although Joel was only at C-rank and he was only a beast tamer, everyone knew his status couldn’t be lesser than Danny due to his connections with the Guild Master and the Executive Commander.
Joel was used to their attitude towards him and despite knowing that it was all a misunderstanding, he didn’t bother explaining.
Furthermore, since he was a member of the Demon Hunters Guild as well, he definitely knew how to act as one.
He said, "This is the Guild Master. Please greet him."
The knights and scouts from the distance heard him and their hearts skipped a beat.
They immediately bowed towards Max and almost simultaneously greeted, "Welcome, Guild Master!"
Max nodded. "Mhm."
Max turned towards Joel and said, "Are you familiar with the headquarters?"
Joel bowed and politely replied, "Sir Lancelot toured me every time I accompanied him.
He said he wanted me to guide you once you finally come out of seclusion and visit the headquarters."
Max nodded and faced forward. "Let’s have a tour first."
The knights and scouts immediately paved the way for them once they heard Max.
Max’s horse snorted and entered with its chin high.
As soon as they entered, the medical center and the sanctuary came to their sights.
Joel led Max to the medical center first.
The medical center trained the members to be proficient in treating physical injuries.
Once they were ready, they would be sent to the frontlines.
At the same time, those who had severe physical injuries were sent to the medical center.
In fact, Max saw at least five members being tended to by healers after suffering from physical injuries.
Max then learned that every member who was sent to the medical center had to be cleansed of impurities from the sanctuary, which was Seraphine’s domain.
Max heard that Seraphine would actually visit from time to time to understand the current state of the Sanctuary, while leaving most of the responsibilities for the Vice Head of the Purification and Restoration Division, like Danny.
Max also visited the Sanctuary and was satisfied by their current progress...
