Apocalypse Online: Regression of SSS-Class Summoner
Chapter 139: Four Rules
Max felt refreshed. After an hour of continuous battle, mostly maneuvering around to dodge their attacks whenever he was about to run out of mana, he felt even more invigorated rather than feeling exhausted.
He gazed at his Rangers and were satisfied by their progress in just an hour.
They managed to reduce their mistakes and worked efficiently.
Unfortunately, Max’s agility was monstrous, not from his stats alone but from the Neuromuscular Combat System.
Although they managed to leave scratch frequently, Max remained mobile and lasted for an hour, while they were left injured.
Max said, "Good work. Take a rest now."
The Rangers bowed deeply as they were then recalled to the Conclave Network of their Master, recuperating.
Max turned towards Jeremiah and asked, "There’s still ten minutes before the right time to summon the Warriors, right?"
Jeremiah bowed deeply. "Yes, Master."
Max nodded. He sat in the lotus position and recovered his lost mana.
He now has 40.278/1min mana regeneration, while his stamina recovery remained fixed because he was a mage.
In other words, his stamina and stamina recovery heavily depended on his strength’s stats.
Most of the time, he would exhaust more stamina points than mana points. To minimize the reduction rate, he efficiently utilize the Neuromuscular Combat System.
Max was honestly surprised by the result of the battle, making him feel not only physically refreshed, but mentally renewed.
He was in the good mood.
His progress on increasing his skills’ proficiency doubled than the time he was training alone.
In other words, the 4 hours training was highly effective.
Unfortunately, he had to devote most of his time to study the library. After all, victory was closer when he possessed more knowledge.
He also had to allocate most of his time increasing his passive skills’ proficiency.
Ten minute passed and his mana was only a quarter away from being fully recovered.
He stood up and summoned his Warriors.
Helena, Darius, Hector, and Fiora appeared filled with enthusiasm.
For the past ten minutes, Owen, Damien, and Damon shared how the training with their Master went.
They were astonished when they heard the tale of their Master’s combat strength.
They couldn’t help but feel excited to fight against their Master at once.
In fact, after they greeted their Master, Darius stepped forward and said in a boastful tone, "Master! Before you fight us at once, will you allow me to fight you alone first?
I just want to be punched as well." He laughed.
Max frowned and stared at him. "I’d be a fool to accept your invitation. Also, your assumption is wrong. I won’t be fighting all of you at once.
You four are great warriors, excelling more than me in close-combat.
I’m a mage. Even if my battle style is closer to close-combat, I will fight depending on the situation thrown at me.
I’m facing Warriors now, not Rangers, so definitely my battle style this time will be different."
The Warriors were astonished.
Fiora felt most disappointed. She was more than ready to challenge her Master to a duel, but Darius simply beat him to it.
Hector, on the other hand, was filled with relief. He didn’t need to fight his Master, which struck him with guilt.
He must protect his Master, defend his life for him. To throw his shields at him was tantamount of breaking his convictions the moment he came to life as a Radiant Knight.
Darius, on the other hand, was a bit disappointed, but still, he was intrigued by what his Master planned.
He asked, "So, how will you fight this time with us?"
Max shrugged. "As a mage, of course.
This time, the training plan I thought of for now is for you four to have a ramble. While I would be casting spells outside, attacking every flaws I would notice."
Darius was taken aback. He pondered for a while and started to dislike the idea.
"Will it be unfair for us? We fight against each other while you are freely attacking us without letting us touch you."
Max shook his head. "Don’t be obsessed with what’s right or wrong. In a war, you can’t just say, someone intervene in your duel, even if it’s official.
You can only complain in the afterlife.
Also, this training is for your to improve yourself. As a Warrior, you are not only fighting against the opponent in front of you, you have to be wary against the sneaky attack from a distance, right?
This is to sharpen your senses and reaction time.
The Warriors’ biggest weakness are unseen attacks. If you want to be stronger, you have to be—"
Max realized that his words were not enough to convince Darius.
Judging by his expression, he was still disappointed from not being given a chance to fight him.
Max silently sighed.
He said, "How about this? In the ramble, if you manage to dodge or block my offensive attack three times, then you win.
But if you fail to do so in five chances, you lose.
Also, if you are gravely injured in the ramble, then you will also lose."
Darius’s face lit up. He seemed to be intrigued by his Master’s proposal and easily agreed.
Max swept his gaze on the other warriors and they seemed to be anticipating to be offered the same condition as Darius.
Max smiled and didn’t hesitate to forward the condition to them.
Now that his Warriors were anticipating the first round of the ramble, he said, "But we must lay down the rules first.
First Rule: You can’t be attacking the same warrior for ten seconds straight. You have to constantly change your opponent.
Second Rule: You can freely go all out. When a warrior fell gravely injured, I will immediately recall them to my Conclave Network. That’s why, don’t hold back.
Third Rule: No one must remain idle. If you rest even for five seconds, you will be disqualified.
Fourth Rule: Respect the condition I set. The moment you lose, you must raise your hand and shout, "I lose."
That’s all."
Max grinned, after receiving the shock on their faces after they heard the third rule.
The first, second, and third rule was already planned even before the training with his warriors. But the fourth rule was inspired out of the blue because of Darius.
With the rules set, Max believed it was time to expose his Warrior’s weaknes...
