Chapter 64: The Cursed Soul Butterfly

Lothe slowly pulled away from the kiss.

Despite the sudden intrusion, his expression remained calm. His [Spatial Perception] had already alerted him to the movement, though he hadn’t expected the intruder to be human—or whatever this being truly was.

He and Seana turned toward the newcomer.

Perhaps influenced by Lothe’s composure, Seana didn’t panic either. Her hand simply moved and the [Blood Moon Sword] appeared in her grasp.

Lothe stepped forward.

"Sorry for intruding on your chamber. It was an accident."

His voice remained calm, his face cold and fearless.

The pale young man raised an eyebrow.

Then—

"Heh..."

A quiet chuckle escaped him.

He couldn’t tell whether their behavior came from courage or stupidity. Either way, he found it amusing.

"An accident, you say?"

He touched his chin as if genuinely considering Lothe’s words.

"This place is forbidden even to those so-called gods in the heavens. They have searched for it countless times and still failed to find it."

His expression darkened.

"And yet two greedy humans somehow stumbled inside?"

Dark energy began swirling around his palm.

"Tell me," he said, his voice growing colder. "What do you want in my master’s cave?"

Lothe’s pupils contracted.

His [Qi Sight] activated immediately.

The moment he looked at the strange energy, an uncomfortable sensation crawled through his soul. Countless gray particles drifted within the black aura, moving like ash caught in a violent storm.

Every instinct in Lothe’s body warned him to stay away.

But his thoughts were focused on something else.

gods?

The word echoed through his mind.

gods actually existed?

He had already accepted the existence of mutated beasts, cultivators, supernatural abilities, and ancient ruins. But gods were completely different.

And judging from the young man’s tone, heavenly gods were common knowledge in whatever era he came from.

Then do demons exist too?

Lothe’s gaze shifted toward the pale young man.

His mind returned to the inscription he had read inside the passage.

The Great Era.

A strange feeling settled in his chest.

Perhaps the apocalypse wasn’t simply the beginning of a new age.

Perhaps it was the return of something ancient.

If gods and demons truly existed, what other races were hidden beyond human knowledge?

Lothe didn’t bother using [Inspect].

There was no point.

Whatever this being was, his strength was far beyond anything Lothe could currently understand.

"Believe it or not, we really did arrive here by accident," Lothe said calmly. "My powers became unstable, and we somehow tore through space into this place."

His voice remained steady, but every hair on his body stood on end beneath the pressure radiating from the black energy.

The young man’s expression became strange.

"And you expect me to believe that?"

His voice carried a sharp edge.

"A human cultivator somehow tore through space and entered my master’s cave by accident?"

He took a slow step forward.

"Even the gods couldn’t accomplish that."

His eyes narrowed.

"This cave is protected by a Divine-Grade Formation."

Another step.

"Who exactly do you think you are?"

Lothe ignored the unfamiliar terminology.

Whatever a Divine-Grade Formation was, it confirmed one thing.

The being before them was terrifying.

The pressure radiating from him was far greater than that of the mutated Crocodilian Beast King.

Seana stepped forward.

"Is it really that difficult to believe we appeared here by mistake?"

She stared at the pale young man.

The answer came in the form of a black sphere.

FWOOSH!

The attack shot toward her like a cannonball.

Seana’s pupils narrowed. She immediately drew the [Blood Moon Sword].

CLANG!

The black energy collided with the blade and exploded.

Seana was forced backward several meters, her boots scraping across the stone floor.

The pale young man didn’t look surprised.

"Of course," he said coldly. "Even after all these years, humans remain the same."

His expression filled with contempt.

"Greedy for things that were never theirs."

Seana’s face darkened.

What does he mean by that?

Before she could respond—

SWISH!

The pale young man vanished.

Lothe’s [Spatial Perception] screamed.

Shit!

His body reacted before his thoughts could catch up.

Void Qi erupted around him as he spun and summoned his Soul Weapon.

BOOM!

A black scythe collided with his spear. A violent shockwave tore through the chamber.

Lothe’s expression changed instantly.

His entire arm went numb, and the force behind the strike nearly tore the spear from his hand.

So strong!

The black scythe swept sideways.

Lothe bent backward, the curved blade passing barely an inch above his face.

He immediately counterattacked.

"Void Spear Art—First Form: Rift Thrust!"

SHING!

Dense Void Qi condensed around Lothe’s spearhead, distorting the very fabric of space around the blade.

Lothe thrust forward with every ounce of physical and spatial force he possessed. The spear tore through the air like a black dragon, ripping a micro-fracture through space, as it surged straight toward the pale young man’s chest!

SHING!

Yet, the intruder merely tilted his head an inch to the left.

The razor-sharp spearhead grazed past empty air.

"Too slow," a cold voice whispered directly beside Lothe’s ear.

Lothe’s heart seized. He brought his returned spear shaft up on sheer instinct.

CLANG!

The black scythe descended like a falling anvil, the sheer force shattering the stone floor beneath Lothe’s boots.

CLANG!

A second strike followed instantaneously.

CLANG! A third!

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Lothe’s arms vibrated violently under the absurd weight behind each blow. The young man’s scythe technique was unnaturally elegant, devoid of any wasted motion. Every shift of his weight, every subtle rotation of his wrist carried enough force to split bedrock.

His scythe danced through the air like a crescent moon—one second possessing the weight of a mountain, the next becoming as light and effortless as a falling leaf.

Lothe’s [Spatial Perception] struggled to process the combat rhythm.

He isn’t just fast... he’s manipulating his movement!

One moment, the being attacked with aggressive, heavy pressure; the next, he froze into absolute stillness, only to vanish into Lothe’s blind spot a millisecond later.

SWISH!
