Chapter 496: Chapter 239: Escorting the Survivor, the Battle for Yunxia Ridge Begins

The next second, Lin Feng became a streak of golden light, soaring ten thousand meters into the sky from the ruined outskirts of the city.

Two minutes later, Lin Feng, clad in his Golden Battle Armor, landed smoothly at the Zerg Race Nest in Yunxia Ridge—the main stronghold resisting the Zerg Race invasion.

Seventy members of the Tier Two Battle Group, as well as Ling Yi piloting the Reproductive Armor Mecha and leading two hundred Warriors, were assembled and on high alert.

From a summit at the edge of the mountains, one could see roiling dust clouds rising in the distance, forming a colossal, grayish-yellow wall of smoke seven to eight kilometers long.

It towered three to four hundred meters high, a spectacular sight reminiscent of an approaching sandstorm.

But at the forefront of this "sandstorm" was a roiling Swarm tens of thousands strong, slowly closing in on Yunxia Ridge at a speed of more than ten kilometers per hour.

Under the cover of such a dense smokescreen, discovering the Mother Empress’s location would be no easy task.

As Lin Feng flew over the vast Swarm, he could only estimate the Mother Empress’s general location from the sky by observing where the hundreds, or even thousands, of Cyan-winged and Wind-winged Zergs were circling.

He could only hope they wouldn’t just charge headlong. The cover of the swirling dust would significantly weaken the Salvation Army’s combat effectiveness.

In particular, it would hamper the aim of the Armor-Piercing and Electromagnetic Cannons. With reduced accuracy, a significant number of zergs would slip through the net, and the Tier Two Samurai Hunter Zergs among them would pose a grave threat to the defensive line.

Lin Feng landed on the summit and tossed Jiang Yun’er and the sack containing the zerg progenitor in front of Ling Yi.

Ling Yi glanced at the two of them and, from the look in Lin Feng’s eyes, quickly deduced what had happened in the Capital City.

With a lift of her hand, Jiang Yun’er, who had propped herself up and was about to struggle, instantly passed out, as did the still-squirming zerg progenitor in the sack.

Ling Yi then said,

"Let them sleep for now. We’ll deal with this after the battle is over."

"Things are complicated. The four Mother Empresses are close to one another, only two or three kilometers apart."

"It’s likely the other three are Early-stage Mother Empresses, nowhere near as powerful as the Mid-stage one. That’s why they were willing to submit to its command and join forces to control the Yunxia Ridge corridor."

"That way, even if a Tier Three Late-stage Mother Empress eventually spawns in the Capital City, they can use this position to threaten it, trapping it in the Eastern Plain and keeping it contained."

"Conquering Yunxia Ridge is their only way forward now that the northern Mother Empress Alliance has collapsed."

Lin Feng’s brow furrowed. He gazed at the menacing Swarm advancing in the distance, and like the Salvation Army combat teams positioned on the peaks, a worried look filled his eyes.

’Looks like neither side can back down this time...’

"We have to neutralize the Swarm’s air power first. Eliminate the Cyan-winged Zergs and the Tier Two Wind-winged Zergs Swarm. We need to seize air superiority."

Lin Feng began issuing orders, addressing the Vice Commander of the Battle Group and several Warrior Commanders who had hurried to his side.

They held the high ground, which gave them a terrain advantage, but it also made them more vulnerable to aerial assault. Even Tier One Cyan-winged Zergs could perform saturation dive-bombing runs on their summit positions.

If the Salvation Army could gain air superiority, however, they could take out the Pulse War Scorpions and Tank Flame Armors at the rear of the Swarm from a distance.

They could even launch direct strikes on the Zerg Race’s High-tier Mother Empress, weakening its Life Force before the main engagement.

The men nodded. Following Lin Feng’s orders, thirty Tier Two Middle-Late Stage Genetic Warriors unfurled the Wind-winged Zerg Membrane Wings fused to their backs. Gripping their Lv29 Electromagnetic Cannon Replicas, they prepared to annihilate the enemy’s aerial units.

Lin Feng took a two-meter-long Ion Laser Cannon from the hand of the Reproductive Armor Mecha, planning to personally lead the Genetic Combat Team...

...to annihilate all the Cyan-winged Zergs and Wind-winged Zerg Swarms.

He would not only seize air superiority but also fix the Reproductive Armor Mecha’s sole weakness: its lack of materials for the Membrane Wings needed for Flight Mode.

...and to pinpoint the location of the Zerg Race Mother Empress...

...making full preparations for the final, decisive decapitation strike!

Over thirty pairs of Membrane Wings began to beat atop the mountain peak, whipping up fierce currents of air...

"Move out!"

At Lin Feng’s command, the Legion of Genetic Warriors led by the golden figure was the first to charge!

Behind them, Ling Yi waited for the perfect moment...

Once the vanguard of the menacing Swarm entered the Electromagnetic Cannons’ firing range, she gave the order to fire!

The thunderous roar of cannons echoed through the sky.

The final battle that would decide the fate of the North,

had officially begun!
