Apocalypse: King of Zombies

Chapter 1620 - 1620: Why Would We Fight Fair?

  • Next Chapter

Back on the battlefield, Abyron and the Luminari Patriarch were still locked in a fierce battle.

Below them, the two sides watched each other warily, but neither made a move.

Without Ethan's orders, the Aurelians and Azure Nereids didn't dare attack on their own.

As for the Luminari, Ethan had already killed all their Stage SSS and Stage SS fighters. The remaining Stage S and Stage A fighters naturally didn't dare start anything.

The enemy outnumbered them ten to one. Without their strongest fighters, picking a fight now would be suicide.

So both sides waited.

The Luminari were waiting for their Patriarch to kill the human, while the two allied races were waiting for Ethan to return.

Before long, another dimensional rift appeared in the air. Three figures emerged from it.

"Lord Ethan, you're back!" Seraphine and Solren exclaimed.

The Luminari fighters' faces sank when they saw that Ethan had brought two more people with him.

Both newcomers were standing in midair with casual ease. They were obviously Stage SSS. The only question was what Tier they had reached.

That human has no shame. He actually went back for reinforcements.

We can only hope the Patriarch can hold out.

Ethan didn't care what they thought. He pointed toward the battle overhead and said to Dahlia and Theron, "That's him. Go kill him!"

The moment Dahlia saw Abyron fighting, she flew up without another word and joined the battle.

Theron first surveyed the situation around them. Only then did he fly over, though he didn't attack immediately.

Instead, he looked at the Luminari Patriarch.

"Have you slaughtered humans before?"

The Patriarch was already furious after Ethan killed two of his most capable subordinates. Theron's question pushed him over the edge.

"So what if I have? They were nothing but a lowly race!"

"You're dead!"

That answer ignited Theron's fury.

His power erupted, and a massive Radiant Blade appeared in his hands. He swung it down at the Luminari Patriarch with tremendous force.

"Peak Tier 47?!"

The Patriarch's face changed dramatically. He immediately raised a shield to block the attack.

Boom!

The Radiant Blade shattered the shield and sent him flying.

Before he could recover, Abyron's spear came at him from behind. At the last possible moment, the Patriarch barely managed to stop it with a slash of brilliant light.

But by then, several exquisite flowers had already reached him. There was no time to dodge.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Each flower exploded against his body.

When the blasts finally subsided, his skin had been torn open in multiple places, and his energy churned violently within him.

He stared at the three opponents before him in terror.

One peak Tier 47 and two more Tier 47s against him alone?

Did these people have no shame?

The Luminari Patriarch drew a sharp breath and glared at Abyron.

"If you've got any guts, fight me one-on-one!"

Before Abyron could answer, Ethan cut in.

"Sure. You can take all three of them on by yourself, or they can all jump you at once. Your choice."

"..."

Abyron frowned and lowered his voice.

"Boss... neither of those is one-on-one."

"That's how we do one-on-one where I'm from."

"...Oh."

The Luminari Patriarch stared at them in disbelief.

"Do you people have no shame?!"

Ethan rolled his eyes.

"Are you still half asleep? We've got you outnumbered. Why the hell would anyone here give you a fair fight?"

His expression hardened.

"Enough. Finish him fast before anyone else shows up."

"Got it!"

All three attacked at once, hammering the Luminari Patriarch with one devastating attack after another.

His face changed as he desperately tried to dodge, but surrounded by three fighters of the same Tier, there was nowhere for him to go. It didn't take long for them to severely injure him.

The Luminari Patriarch finally panicked and began begging for his life.

"I was wrong! I failed to recognize who I was dealing with! Please, don't kill me! I'll do anything you ask!"

The stronger someone became, the more they feared death. Reaching his level had required endless hardship. No one who had come that far wanted to die.

But his pleas earned him no mercy.

The moment he called humans a lowly race, both Abyron and Theron had marked him for death. There was no chance they would let him live.

Below, the tens of thousands of Luminari fighters went pale as they watched their Patriarch beg for mercy.

The mighty Patriarch of the Luminari had been beaten until he pleaded for his life. To them, there could be no greater humiliation.

Under the three fighters' relentless assault, he lasted only a few more minutes before they killed him.

With practiced ease, Ethan stored the corpse in his storage ring. He then smiled at the three of them.

"Thanks for the hard work."

"It was nothing," Abyron and Dahlia replied with smiles.

Theron said nothing. His cold gaze remained fixed on the mass of Luminari fighters below.

"They must have taken part in the slaughter of those humans as well."

"Oh, I'm sure they did, but these guys are small fry. We can deal with them whenever we want."

Ethan glanced around.

"We need to leave as soon as possible. That battle caused too much of a commotion. A lot of Void Realm creatures are probably already heading this way."

Theron continued staring down at the Luminari without moving.

Ethan sighed helplessly.

"Fine. Get it out of your system, but make it quick. We really need to go."

Theron nodded.

Countless swords of light appeared overhead, then rained down on the Luminari below.

Shnk! Shnk! Shnk!

One sword after another pierced through their bodies.

Screams filled the air as tens of thousands of Luminari scattered in every direction.

Ethan paid them no further attention. He led the Aurelians and Azure Nereids onward.

Once Theron had vented his anger, he soon caught up.

He looked down at the army of several hundred thousand below them.

"What's the situation with these foreign races?"

"They have some history with humanity. They can't survive in their old world anymore, so I'm taking them to New Atlas. They can help reinforce the city while they're there," Ethan explained.

"And since you're here now, your presence should be enough to deter most of the Void Realm races we encounter."

"They have history with humanity?" Theron frowned.

"Yeah. The ancestor of the Azure Nereids had a romantic relationship with a human. That's why they kept helping humanity when the Void Realm passages first opened. Now they can no longer survive in their original world because of it. Don't you think we should protect them?"

"Of course we should," Theron said solemnly.

"Then let's escort them back to New Atlas together."

"Very well."
