Chapter 428: Chapter 428: Staff Dormitory

Inside the lottery shop, Lily Hart missed out on the drama. She only saw the two of them enter the convenience store one after the other, with Sue Sutton even pulling Cynthia Whittaker’s hair a couple of times. After that, she could only imagine what happened next.

Lily Hart shook her head, closed up the vehicle’s sides, and went up to the second floor with her hands clasped behind her back.

She suddenly began to ponder. ’My staff will only grow in the future. I can’t just keep putting people up in the hotel; that’ll affect its business.’

’What about getting an employee dormitory?’

’One unit per person, complete with a washing machine, air conditioner, wardrobe, and table and chairs. It’ll be just like living in a hotel, except they’ll have to do their own cleaning.’

She had actually thought about this before, but she didn’t have many employees back then, and it had seemed like too much of a hassle.

But today, she had been dreaming about her future business empire. The number of employees would definitely grow, and their housing situation needed to keep pace.

No sooner said than done. After her shower, Lily Hart lay in bed and started her research.

There were ready-made employee dormitories in the Mall. Not wanting to shortchange her staff, she chose an upper-middle-tier option.

Each person’s unit was quite large, a spacious fifty square meters. It was a one-bedroom, one-living-room layout complete with a kitchen and bathroom.

There were six units per floor, and the building could be expanded up to fifteen stories. ’If that’s still not enough space, I’ll just buy another one,’ Lily Hart thought magnanimously.

So, she decisively placed the order for the building. The furniture and layout in each unit were identical, but residents could redecorate as they pleased after moving in.

Lily Hart thought it was absolutely perfect and even posted photos of the building and its interiors in the shop owners’ group chat.

This group chat included all the shop and night market stall owners.

Then she sent out a notice: [I’m now offering an employee dormitory. Anyone who wants to live there can sign up. I’ll tally the numbers and assign the rooms.]

A flurry of notifications chimed. She scrolled through them. Aside from Frost Shaw, Roman Rowe, Owen Warren, Leo Colby, and the six little ones, everyone else wanted a room in the dorm.

She accepted everyone, assigning the dorm rooms one by one in the order their shops had been won.

She then created a small chart matching the room numbers to the shop owners and posted it in the group. [You can all move in tomorrow!~]

Another barrage of firework, flower, and firecracker stickers followed.

’What a bunch of bots,’ Lily Hart chuckled as she turned off her Light Brain and snuggled into her quilt to sleep.

The next day, Lily Hart got up, washed up, and went downstairs, only to be surprised by the sight of Simon Keane standing in front of the breakfast shop. She raised an eyebrow. ’Don’t tell me he’s had a change of heart now that the Mysterious Clan has fallen?’

’Has he decided to turn over a new leaf and actually run his shop?’

But reality was often surprising. Simon Keane was just there to buy breakfast, though his demeanor was much more relaxed and open than before.

Lily Hart called out to him, "The Mysterious Clan isn’t after you anymore, so what are you still hiding for? Come on out! Come run your shop!"

Simon Keane shook his head. "No thanks. I think I’m better suited to being a freeloader. Just eating and drinking every day is the greatest joy in my life."

’Who isn’t?!’

She understood the logic, but seeing Old Man Keaton lazing around at home doing nothing all day already drove her crazy!

She wanted to nag him a little more, but Simon Keane quickly slipped into the hotel, not giving her the slightest chance.

Figuring that as the boss, she should go check on the employee dorm, she got out of her RV. As she passed the breakfast shop, she grabbed two steamed buns.

She walked toward the area behind the breakfast shop, munching on a bun.

That’s right. The employee dormitory was located not far behind the breakfast shop—an eye-catching seven-story building that was hard to miss.

The first floor was a large lobby with elevators and stairs on both the left and right sides. Heading up the stairs, a long hallway came into view.

There were rooms on both sides: 201, 202, 203...

She casually pushed open the nearest door. The first thing she saw was a huge balcony, and the natural light was amazing. The living room had a two-seater sofa and a small coffee table.

There were also a dining table and chairs, a projector, and other furnishings. Next to the balcony was the kitchen, which was fully stocked with pots, pans, and dishes.

Lily Hart did a quick tour. The hot water in the bathroom came on instantly, and the bedroom was complete with a wardrobe and a full-length mirror.

’Absolutely perfect! Especially for someone living alone! It’d be pure bliss to live here all by yourself~’

Since customers hadn’t arrived yet, Lily Hart decided to send a message in the group chat, telling everyone to come claim their rooms and preferably move their luggage over.

’Otherwise, closing time is at ten, and if they have to deal with all this afterward, they’ll never get to sleep.’

Then Lily Hart suddenly remembered that the ten o’clock closing time was because they had been frequently moving between bases, and she needed to ensure the residents of each base had a good experience.

But now that they were back at Central Command, the situation here probably wouldn’t be resolved anytime soon, so there was no need to stay open so late.

’Closing at eight should be fine. It’ll give everyone a chance to breathe.’

When Lily Hart returned to the lobby, she saw Serena Sawyer of the milk tea shop and Rhonda Kane of the cake shop walking in arm in arm. "Hi, Boss Hart! What a coincidence!"

Their assigned dorm rooms were right across the hall from each other. They got along well, so after a quick discussion, they had decided to come together.

"Come on, come on, let’s go up and take a look together," Lily Hart said excitedly when she saw them.

She was dying to share her newly purchased employee dormitory with someone! ’I bought a whole building in one go! How awesome is that?’

"Okay, okay!" Serena Sawyer and Rhonda Kane said in unison. They gave her the enthusiastic reaction she was hoping for, separating to link arms with her on her left and right.

With a woman on each arm, Lily Hart giggled as the three of them went up the stairs side by side.

She recalled their room numbers and led them upstairs with practiced ease.

Their rooms were 302 and 304 on the third floor.

When they reached Serena Sawyer’s room, 302, Lily Hart let her open the door herself.

As they stepped inside, they were greeted by warm sunlight flooding the living room, creating a very comfortable and cozy atmosphere.

"Wow~" the two of them gasped instinctively.

’This looks more like a home; it has a real homey feel.’ There were even adorable throw pillows and a blanket on the sofa.

After touring the apartment, all three of them liked it more and more, strengthening the two employees’ resolve to work for Boss Hart for the rest of their lives!

’A place this nice, a bed this soft, not having to risk our lives killing zombies, and being able to take a hot shower the moment we get home.’

’This was exactly the kind of life they had always yearned for!’

Since it was still early, Lily Hart told the two of them to stay and get settled, and just head over when it was time for the shop to open.

She went back down to the lobby and ran into a few night market stall owners arriving in small groups.

"Just find your rooms using the room numbers!" Lily Hart instructed, then sauntered back to the lottery shop.

’Another big task solved. I deserve a pat on the back!’

When Lily Hart got back to the lottery shop, Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs were already busy with their respective tasks.

She helped out for a bit, reflecting on how Central Command was indeed the most populous base.

’There are so many more customers than at the other bases. It’s going to be another incredibly busy day~’

After helping with the initial rush, she curled up on the sofa with some snacks, dozing on and off.

She opened her mouth to yawn, but before she could finish, she heard Diana Sharp call out to her, "Lily~ First prize~"

’They’re so concise now.’

Lily Hart smoothly finished her yawn, then got up and exited the RV.
