Apocalypse: I'm Bound to a Mobile Lottery Shop
Chapter 389: High-Speed Rail Station
Chapter 389: Chapter 389: High-Speed Rail Station
She thought it would take some time to build the high-speed rail station.
She hadn’t expected it to be a fully-formed station. With a tap of her finger, she dragged it right out and placed it in her chosen location.
With a THUD, the station landed. It started as a tiny model, then gradually grew larger and larger.
Once it reached its full size, it was a magnificent sight. Four large, bold, red words stood atop the station roof.
Kenseng High-Speed Rail Station.
The station was some distance from the lottery shop, but this distance happened to give everyone a better angle to admire it from.
It was magnificent.
You had to crane your neck to take it all in.
Lily Hart was curious about the station’s interior. ’Is it just an empty shell, or are all the facilities intact?’
’It’s a bit of a walk, though.’ Lily Hart was too lazy to go on foot.
She recalled buying a minibus a while back, seemingly for this very kind of situation, but she had yet to take it out and use it.
She took it out of her inventory, watching as the minibus grew larger bit by bit.
Then she remembered a very serious problem: she didn’t know how to drive.
’What a nightmare...’ she thought, and immediately asked in the group chat: [Anyone know how to drive? Urgent!!!]
The clinic was the closest building to the left of the lottery shop. The moment she sent the message, Lily Hart saw Roman Rowe come sprinting out of it.
He was waving his Light Brain in the air, shouting happily, "Me, me! I can drive! I even have a motorcycle. Want me to take you for a spin?"
He hadn’t even noticed the minibus next to her RV.
Lily Hart thought it over. ’That works too. It’s a waste of resources to use a minibus for just two people.’
With a wave of her hand, the minibus vanished. She then got out of her RV and replied cheerfully, "Sure!"
Roman Rowe was thrilled. He gleefully pulled his motorcycle out of his storage space.
It was the same one he’d been riding when Lily Hart first met him. It was, how should she put it, very flashy, but it suited his personality perfectly.
He swung a long leg over the seat with ease, his blond hair whipping around with the motion.
Roman Rowe patted the seat behind him. "Come on, hop on."
Lily Hart was surprised to see that his hair had grown quite a bit since they first met. If he didn’t style it, it would completely cover his eyes.
She then thought about the other men. Their hair was all in a similar state.
’After all these years in the apocalypse, how does one even get a haircut? Do they just hack at it with a knife?’
’It’s about time they got a proper haircut.’
Seeing her standing there looking spaced-out, Roman Rowe assumed she’d been captivated by how cool he looked smoothly mounting his bike.
He decided to start the engine, revved the throttle, and began circling around Lily Hart. He was a skilled rider and didn’t come close to hitting her.
The roar of the engine brought Lily Hart back to her senses. She looked at him and smiled.
Roman Rowe was so dazzled by her smile he nearly fell over. He immediately stopped the bike and grinned foolishly. "Quick, get on, Boss Hart!"
Lily Hart took two steps forward, steadied herself with a hand on Roman Rowe’s shoulder, and imitated his move to swing her leg over.
Thankfully, she was tall enough. Otherwise, she might not have made it in one go.
"Are you holding on?" Roman Rowe asked. He hesitated for a moment before taking her hand from his shoulder and moving it to the fabric of his shirt at his waist.
Roman Rowe said, "Hold on here. It’s more stable."
Lily Hart grabbed his shirt. He wasn’t wearing thick layers, so she could feel the slim contour of his waist.
’It’s pretty slim.’
"Let’s go. I’ve got a good grip," Lily Hart said.
"You got it!" Roman Rowe answered. He gunned the engine, and the motorcycle shot forward like a cannonball.
’I expected it to be fast, but not *this* fast! Roman must have modified it!’
The massive force of the acceleration threw her backward, and she almost fell off the bike. Luckily, her grip was firm.
The initial burst of speed was just particularly intense. Once they evened out, Lily Hart snapped forward again like a roly-poly toy.
She ended up plastered against Roman Rowe’s back, her arms thrown around his waist and her chin landing with a little thud on his shoulder.
Lily Hart was just grateful she hadn’t bitten her tongue.
Roman Rowe slowed down even more, his body stiffening slightly.
’Boss Hart is hugging me! Does she... have a thing for me? Why else would she be hugging me out of nowhere, and so tightly?’
What can I say? That’s just how we people who get carried away by our own assumptions are. Bear with me.
And so, Roman Rowe drove on, his imagination running wild, completely forgetting to ask Lily Hart where they were going.
Once Lily Hart recovered, she pushed off his shoulders to put a little distance between them.
The wind was pretty strong. When Lily Hart wanted to say something, she had to lean in close again, her lips near his earlobe as she said, "To the high-speed rail station! That one over there!"
Roman Rowe heard her and saw it, but his mind was a one-way track. He couldn’t process too many things at once.
Right now, all he could think was, ’Boss Hart’s voice is so lovely. And I wonder what kind of candy she’s been eating... she smells so sweet~’
Back in the convenience store, Frost Shaw had been waiting for a reply ever since he sent: [I can drive. What’s up?]
When one never came, he decided to go look for Boss Hart, only to see a trail of exhaust fumes.
He also saw Roman Rowe and Lily Hart on the motorcycle, pressed close together. He knew it was probably just due to the circumstances.
But he was... not happy!
He paced in a few circles on the spot before returning to the convenience store.
Meanwhile, Roman Rowe had brought Lily Hart to the high-speed rail station. He looked up in amazement. "Whoa!"
"Save the ’whoa’ for later. Let’s get off first," Lily Hart said, patting his shoulder.
Hearing that, Roman Rowe put down the kickstand, planted his long legs on the ground, and dismounted with ease. He then offered Lily Hart his hand to help her off.
Lily Hart naturally took his hand as she dismounted.
"Come on, let’s go check it out," said Lily Hart. Roman Rowe followed close behind her.
The high-speed rail station had three main doorways: an entrance, an exit, and one that led to the ticketing hall.
The entrance was blocked by a row of ticket turnstiles, completely sealing the way forward. You had to scan a Light Brain or a ticket to get through.
Past the turnstiles was a row of security scanners. You had to submit your personal storage space for inspection; only those without prohibited items could proceed.
There were two checkpoints in total.
After clearing both, they entered the waiting hall. It was enormous.
It was divided into five different sections to separate passengers for different train lines.
Other than that, there wasn’t much else. It was simple but high-tech. At least, Roman Rowe seemed to think so, clicking his tongue in amazement.
To Lily Hart, this was all just standard procedure. As long as it was functional, it was good enough.
The two of them passed through the turnstiles and security, wandered through a few of the waiting halls, and arrived at the train platform.
Of course, it was a platform without any tracks. Those still needed to be laid.
Lily Hart figured that since she already had the station, she couldn’t neglect the tracks. ’I’m not waiting for Elder Shaw to wire the funds. I’ll install them myself!’
’Three tracks should be enough, since there are only two platforms.’
Two tracks cost thirty thousand points, and three tracks cost thirty-five thousand. And that was after Lily Hart had haggled the price down.
A white light flashed. The tracks appeared, stretching into the distance as far as the eye could see.
System-made, so quality was guaranteed.
The tracks automatically cleared any obstacles in their path, finding the most suitable ground for installation.
Extremely intelligent, to say the least.
These three tracks stretched all the way to Central Command.
The system had said that regardless of the distance, three tracks would cost thirty-five thousand points.
Since the system had said as much, Lily Hart was naturally going to lay them as long as possible! The price was the same either way.
"Whoa!" Roman Rowe exclaimed for what felt like the dozenth time.
