Apocalypse: I'm Bound to a Mobile Lottery Shop
Chapter 383: First Prize Milk Tea Shop
Chapter 383: Chapter 383: First Prize Milk Tea Shop
Roman Rowe’s eyes flew open. He was about to start cursing, but he instinctively began to chew.
He turned, grabbed a chair, and squeezed in between the two of them.
He even told Frost Shaw, "Scoot over," not forgetting to turn and smile at Lily Hart.
Lily Hart gave a weary laugh as the three of them just stared at one another. "What are you all looking at me for? Eat!"
Roman Rowe nodded and declared to Frost Shaw with self-righteous indignation, "Did you hear that? Boss Hart told you to eat!"
Frost Shaw: ...
He reached past Roman Rowe to hand a pair of chopsticks to Lily Hart, then stood up to get another pair from the kitchen.
As Leo Colby and the others trickled in, they saw Roman Rowe sitting beside Lily Hart, pouting and looking thoroughly aggrieved.
Everyone was used to this, so they simply lined up to get their food from the kitchen, discovering there were also freshly cooked dumplings.
"Ooh, dumplings!" Owen Warren exclaimed happily, filling a bowl to the brim. ’Even though I’m a zombie, this stuff is seriously delicious!’
’Why didn’t I ever realize this stuff was so tasty back when I was human?’
’Maybe my sense of taste changed after I became a zombie?’ Owen Warren didn’t dwell on it, quickly carrying his bowl out to start eating.
Having filled his bowl with dumplings, Owen Warren led the way out and sat down across from Lily Hart without a second thought.
Seeing that she also had a bowl of dumplings, Owen Warren couldn’t help but ask, "Hey, Boss Hart, are these dumplings any good?"
"Haven’t had a chance to try them yet," Lily Hart said, her tone a little odd. Next to her, Roman Rowe hid his face in his hands, not daring to look up.
Owen Warren tried one, gave it a couple of chews, and swallowed. He quickly waved his hand and said, "They’re pretty good! You should eat up, Boss Hart!"
"Alright~" Lily Hart recalled the earlier scene and chuckled to herself before popping a dumpling into her mouth.
After the cheerful meal, everyone helped clear the bowls and chopsticks and took them to the kitchen.
There was a dishwasher, so no one had to wash anything; they just needed to load it properly.
After they finished cleaning up, Lily Hart went to the restroom. When she came out, she found that everyone else had left; only Frost Shaw was still sitting on the sofa.
Hearing the noise, he turned his head, then immediately pushed himself up, vaulted over the back of the sofa, and crossed to her in a few strides.
"Why are you still here? Don’t you have to watch the store?" Lily Hart asked.
She was unconsciously flicking water from her hands. Then, an idea struck her, and she simply wiped them on his clothes.
She left two clear handprints on his shirt. Frost Shaw just smiled, saying nothing. He even seemed to be enjoying her little antics.
When he didn’t say anything, Lily Hart crossed her arms and looked up at him.
’Hmm, his mind isn’t in the right place. Don’t tell me he’s getting addicted to kissing? This could get tricky.’
She glanced at Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs, who were busy working, then tugged the hem of Frost Shaw’s shirt and pulled him into the restroom.
She said with a straight face, "Come on, I need to talk to you about something."
She closed the restroom door, shutting them off from view.
Frost Shaw leaned against the door, faced with a stern-looking Lily Hart, her arms crossed.
She was rattling on, "You need to focus on your work. Your head can’t just be full of all this nonsense, you understand? Mmph—"
Frost Shaw wrapped an arm around her waist, pulled her close, and bent down to kiss her, stopping the words right in her mouth.
His arms tightened around her; she felt so soft and smelled so sweet.
After a long moment, their lips parted. Frost Shaw gently wiped the corner of her mouth and said earnestly, "You can continue. I’m listening."
Lily Hart: "Where was I?"
Frost Shaw repeated, "Not to have my head full of nonsense."
Lily Hart nodded, about to continue, but realized it was hard to sound authoritative while still wrapped in his arms.
She pushed him away, steadied herself, and glared. "You can’t do this again. Especially not in public, when other people are around. You need to rein it in, okay?"
"Okay," Frost Shaw agreed, his eyes fixed on her face. "But what if I can’t help it?"
... ’Right. "Can’t help it."’
’Is this what an eighteen-year-old guy is like?’
’His maturity often makes me forget he’s only eighteen.’
Lily Hart: "Even if you can’t help it, you have to. Be a good boy~" She reached out, patted his head, and casually planted a quick kiss on his cheek.
Having successfully placated him, Frost Shaw pouted and reluctantly agreed. "Fine. But there’s no one else here right now, and this isn’t a public place, you know~"
Before Lily Hart could even process what he meant, he had already wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her flush against him.
Another long, dizzying kiss followed.
’Frost Shaw was a fast learner in this department. Maybe it was because he had a good teacher.’
He could already take the lead now, kissing Lily Hart until her legs turned to jelly.
After a while, Lily Hart urged Frost Shaw, "You go out first. I’ll come out in a minute."
’This feels suspiciously like we’re having an affair,’ she couldn’t help but think.
’The cool, sweet female boss having a secret relationship with her handsome male employee... Is that plotline really so rare? It’s probably pretty common!’
She comforted herself with this thought as she pushed Frost Shaw out of the restroom. She wiped her slightly swollen lips, then splashed them with cool water.
Suddenly, she heard voices from outside.
Diana Sharp’s voice rang out, "Huh? Frost, you’re still here? Where did you just pop out from?"
Tina Jacobs sounded puzzled too. "Yeah, I looked just a second ago and didn’t see anyone."
Frost Shaw replied with perfect composure, "I just got here. By the way, where’s Boss Hart? I need to see her about something."
Lily Hart emerged from the restroom, flicking water from her hands. "What do you need me for?"
As the words left her mouth, she saw Frost Shaw giving her a meaningful look. She played along, "If you have something to discuss, let’s sit down."
The two of them sat on the sofa, and seeing this, Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs went back to what they were doing.
Little did the others know that on the sofa, Frost Shaw was using the angle to his advantage, secretly hooking his finger around Lily Hart’s pinky.
She’d pull away, and he’d hook it again. She’d pull away, and he’d hook it again.
She was getting tired of pulling away.
’Where did the shy Frost Shaw from before go? Did kissing him break some kind of seal?’
Lily Hart shot him a glare, warning him to behave. Frost Shaw got the message and reluctantly let go.
The moment their hands separated, Diana Sharp turned and called out, "Lily!"
Even though she was calling for Lily Hart, it was Frost Shaw who jumped. He instinctively looked up, instantly straightening his posture to look natural.
Lily Hart glanced at him, hiding a smile, and asked, "What is it?"
"I think someone just won the first prize!" Diana Sharp said excitedly.
"I’ll go take a look." Lily Hart was excited too. ’One first prize per base is perfect. Not too frequent, otherwise things will get too busy.’
Lily Hart stood up, and Frost Shaw immediately followed. She turned, poked his shoulder, and warned, "Go on back to your convenience store. I don’t need a shadow, you know."
"Then be careful," Frost Shaw said, not pressing the matter further, only offering a word of caution.
Only after watching her get off the RV did Frost Shaw head back to the convenience store to start his shift, just like any other day.
Lily Hart found the customer who had won the first prize. When she saw the prize card, she was pleasantly surprised.
A milk tea shop.
Even though it was the apocalypse, her habit of needing a cup of milk tea every few days to keep herself going hadn’t changed.
She had just been buying it from the system’s shop until now. Having a milk tea shop right nearby would be perfect.
When everyone returned from killing zombies, they could reward themselves with a milk tea or a small cake. Perfect!
The customer was thrilled, too. It was the first prize, after all! She couldn’t believe she’d been so lucky!
