Chapter 282: Chapter 238: I Have a Blade; Gentlemen, Pray Watch
The red sun rose, casting out a myriad of rosy rays.
After slowly sipping two cups of tea, the crowd that had gathered to watch the battle grew impatient.
Someone said sarcastically:
"I’m telling you, when Tang Wen gets here, I bet he won’t even be able to stand straight."
"Hahahahaha! Eighteen straight days of whoring... I’m almost jealous."
"It’s possible. The kid might just get here and forfeit immediately. No one could blame him."
"Brilliant! That way he won’t lose face."
"..."
RATTLE, RATTLE.
An unusual commotion sounded from outside the gates.
It sounded like a large carriage.
The guards at the entrance threw open the central gates, and just as expected, a spacious carriage rolled in.
"What grand style for Seventh Young Master Tang," someone sneered.
But he was immediately jabbed in the ribs by a companion. "Look closer before you speak."
"It’s that fellow from the Lu Family."
"Lu Zhu? Oh, it’s him. No wonder the carriage is so huge."
Lu Zhu, whose real name was Lu Chu, was a young master of the Lu Family, one of the three great families of the Inner City.
The carriage stopped.
Someone lifted the curtain.
First, an arm emerged, then a leg.
Whether they had seen him before or not, everyone present now understood: his nickname was no exaggeration.
His arm was thicker than a woman’s waist, and his leg was so wide it would take a grown man to wrap his arms around it.
When he finally managed to squeeze his entire body out of the carriage, Li Zi, seeing such a sight for the first time, muttered, "That’s not a man, that’s a mountain of flesh!"
The mountain of flesh moved slowly, supported by seven or eight attendants.
Even so, he had to stop and rest every few dozen steps.
Only then could he take another step.
Finally, an expert from the Lu Family couldn’t bear to watch any longer and shouted, "Careful, Young Master! Allow me to assist you."
Then, the mountain of flesh rose into the air and floated gently down onto the platform.
Lu Zhu’s servants scrambled up from below, pulled out more than a dozen soft cushions to spread on the ground, while another brought several enormous pillows from the carriage to prop up his back.
Only then was he able to maintain a sitting position, and just barely at that.
The youngest of the Thirteen Thieves of the Desert Sea spoke up. "Boss, that Young Master Tang Wen fella... he doesn’t look like this too, does he?"
"If he did, it would save us a lot of trouble."
"Don’t be ridiculous! They say Tang Wen is incredibly handsome. How could he possibly look like that?"
Before the Thirteen Thieves’ Leader could finish, he seemed to sense something and turned his head toward the Black Water Gang’s Council Hall.
There, at the entrance to the Council Hall, which had been empty just a moment ago, now stood a young man of sublime grace.
His white robes were like snow, his eyes like stars.
Even the two famed black jade dragon pillars at the hall’s entrance seemed to dim in his presence.
A sudden realization struck the Thirteen Thieves’ Leader: ’This must be Tang Wen.’
He wasn’t the only one who saw Tang Wen. While the crowd’s attention was fixed on Lu Zhu, the experts at the Sixth Grade and above had turned to look a moment sooner and had already spotted him.
Feng San Niang was utterly captivated. She wanted to say something, but didn’t want to use common words like "handsome" or "dashing." After a long moment of thought, she finally said, "To stand like a jade tree, to smile like the moon embraced!"
A beautiful young woman in blue beside her nodded repeatedly. "My lady, you’ll have to help me in a minute."
"Hm?"
"Young Master Tang glanced at me, and my knees went weak. I can’t stand up."
Feng San Niang: ’...I’ve been outdone.’
Not a single woman present was anything less than starstruck.
Shui Yun, meanwhile, simply smiled and puffed out her chest, wishing she could pull Tang Wen into her arms and declare:
’He’s mine!’
’He belongs to me!’
Finally, the rest of the Extraordinary, Martial Artists, and other experts sensed something was amiss. They turned their heads and saw Tang Wen, who had been standing there for some time.
Someone, clearly unable to stand the sight of him, couldn’t help but make a sour remark:
"Isn’t the Seventh Young Master supposed to be enjoying himself at Jile Tower? When did he get out?"
Another man chimed in, "Eighteen nights in a row at Jile Tower. I wonder what that’s like."
Tang Wen glanced at them. He didn’t recognize them; ’Probably from another gang,’ he thought.
Shui Yun, however, silently committed the faces of the two speakers to memory.
Seeing her master being slandered, Liang Yu, who had been holding her tongue for a long time, could no longer restrain herself and shouted, "That’s a vicious lie! My master left Jile Tower on the very first day! What do you mean, eighteen days?"
"What?"
"The first day?"
"Impossible!"
"Do you know what kind of place Jile Tower is? What man doesn’t love beautiful women? How could he possibly leave on the first day?"
"Exactly! That day, Tang Wen was cornered in his carriage, and that thing was shaking for a full hour and a half! I ask you, how could a man like that possibly leave Jile Tower after just one day?"
The scene erupted into chaos.
No one believed her.
It was more unbelievable than a wolf becoming a vegetarian.
Their strong reaction was easy enough to understand.
They had all placed bets with silver on when Tang Wen would leave Jile Tower!
Their own interests were at stake, after all!
Although it hadn’t even been a month, Tang Wen had to leave early because of the challenge.
But the Sixth Young Master, who had organized the betting pool, had already made a promise.
Anyone who had bet that he would leave after a month would receive a compensatory payout of silver.
It wasn’t much, but everyone felt it was a reasonable gesture.
But now, before they’d even collected their silver, someone was claiming Tang Wen had left on the very first day.
Of course they wouldn’t believe it!
Liang Yu threw her head back, showing her pale neck, and shouted, "My master has no interest in such common floozies! He’s been in seclusion within the gang for the past eighteen days!"
Her voice cut through the crowd’s chatter.
Unfortunately, aside from the women present, most of the men simply refused to believe her.
"Seventh Young Master Tang’s steps are steady, and his eyes burn with a divine fire. I’m afraid he hasn’t been near a woman at all recently!" The voice was melodious, laced with a hint of seductive charm.
The speaker was Feng San Niang.
Sensing her goodwill, Tang Wen smiled at her and announced in a clear voice, "I had another epiphany during my seclusion. We’ll soon see if it’s true or not. Thirteen Thieves of the Desert Sea, come on up!"
Shui Yun narrowed her eyes and scoffed inwardly. ’You dare flirt with a Sixth Grade woman? Be careful she doesn’t squeeze you dry.’
Wielding a great saber, the leader of the Thirteen Thieves of the Desert Sea strode onto the platform.
