Chapter 237 - 221: Revealed: Tang Wen’s Secret of Cultivation (Part 2)
Chapter 237: Chapter 221: Revealed: Tang Wen’s Secret of Cultivation (Part 2)
He had backed himself into a corner.
He was courting death!
’Is he really going to surrender?’
The eyes of the three elites lit up, and they rushed over with nimble steps.
’It’s almost over!’
Once surrounded by three powerhouses of the same level, with no room to maneuver, wouldn’t defeat come in an instant?
In the nick of time, Tang Wen made only one move.
He made a grasping motion with one hand and thrust it downwards.
The steps of the three elite Martial Artists halted in unison!
Rock Vajra, clad in Heavy Armor, dropped directly to his knees.
With a THUD, two craters appeared in the ground.
The other two struggled to even move, their faces flushing crimson.
The crowd paid them no mind.
Instead, they all looked up at the sky!
A black pagoda was hovering there, bobbing up and down in mid-air.
[Night Binding]
Tang Wen chose to disguise himself as a Dark Awakener with Mastery of "Night Binding."
His brow was furrowed and his lips were pressed tightly together, as if he were under immense pressure.
"He actually learned this move!" The Fourth Young Master was momentarily stunned.
Even he, a Veteran Extraordinary, hadn’t mastered it.
’Perhaps he just has a particular Talent for this move?’
The faces of Vice Gang Leader Lin and the others grew grim.
"Looks like I’ve won!"
As he spoke, Tang Wen used his Spiritual Power to control the Steel Fork dropped by the Eight-armed Yaksha. It trembled as it flew up and hovered threateningly before the three men’s throats.
Seeing this, Vice Gang Leader Liu stood up and glanced at Tang Wen. "As expected of the Gang Leader’s disciple!"
Most people had to at least become an Extraordinary to learn [Night Binding].
But Tang Wen, a mere Martial Artist, could already use it in actual combat.
"In this battle, Young Master Tang Wen is victorious!"
The people from the Seven Kills Hall were the first to cheer.
His earlier fight against Zhao Xiong had ended so bizarrely that they, like everyone else, hadn’t known how to react.
But now, Tang Wen had suppressed three experts in a single move, winning fair and square. It was a victory that naturally earned cheers!
The ordinary gang members who hadn’t favored Tang Wen slowly came to their senses amidst the celebration.
It was just that in everyone’s mind, a martial arts duel was supposed to be a visceral, passionate affair, full of grappling and trading blows...
Shouldn’t that be what got everyone’s blood pumping and spirits soaring?
Why had both matches been so anticlimactic?
They looked at each other, scratching their heads, and could only offer a dry comment: "The Seventh Young Master is exceptionally talented!"
Up on the high platform, Tang Wen beamed at Vice Gang Leader Lin and the others. "Gentlemen, you’ve lost. The stakes will be delivered to the gang tonight. Any problem with that?"
Vice Gang Leader Liu, known for his just enforcement of the rules, also spoke up. "That is how it should be. Today, I will wait here and personally see the bet settled!"
Vice Gang Leader Lin and the others, their expressions ugly, immediately started cursing him under their breath.
’Old Liu, why be such a damn stickler?’
They couldn’t afford to offend the Law Enforcement Hall, so they could only agree with sour faces.
Tang Wen gave Vice Gang Leader Liu a smile and returned to his seat.
The three elite Martial Artists had complex expressions, but they weren’t injured.
After Tang Wen withdrew his Spiritual Power, the three could move freely without any lasting effects.
The duels would continue, following the gang’s tradition.
This scene did not escape the eyes of Vice Gang Leader Lin, the Eldest Young Master, and the others.
To them, it became a symbol that Tang Wen’s strength was nothing special after all.
They were also familiar with [Night Binding]. Normally, an opponent affected by this move should suffer from depleted Spiritual Power.
But the Eight-armed Yaksha and the other two seemed perfectly fine.
Furthermore, when Tang Wen had cast the move, the conjured black pagoda had bobbed unstably in the air.
Putting it all together, they concluded that Tang Wen’s actual strength wasn’t that great. Pinning down the three of them had been a struggle, and there was an element of luck involved.
’Just dumb luck!’
’What a pity!’
’If any of those three had even slightly stronger Spiritual Power, Tang Wen would have been the one to lose!’
"That was too close!" Shui Yun gripped Tang Wen’s hand, her soft palm clammy.
Tang Wen smiled. "I told you I’d win."
Receiving a glare in return, Shui Yun sent a telepathic message: "You may have won, but now everyone has a read on you. You need to lie low for a while."
Tang Wen’s smile grew wider. He dropped the act and sent a message back to Shui Yun: "Perfect! Even my senior sister, who knows my ’ins and outs’ best, thinks so."
"What ’ins and outs’...? Huh?!"
Shui Yun couldn’t hide her shock. "You just...?"
"Sent a telepathic message! I learned how," Tang Wen said with a wink.
Shui Yun calmed herself and sent another message: "Don’t tell me, junior brother... you-you broke through? Are you an Extraordinary now?"
"Well, why wouldn’t I be?" Her wide-eyed stare was rather cute, so Tang Wen teased her in a strained voice.
Shui Yun: "Talk normally."
"I’m not even eighteen yet. My body is still developing, so my strength and Constitution are far from their Peak. But my abilities have awakened, and my combat power is comparable to an Extraordinary. So, do I count or not?"
Tang Wen spread his hands.
The more Shui Yun listened, the more complicated she felt. ’That’s right, junior brother isn’t even eighteen yet.’
’An Extraordinary before the age of eighteen?’
’Has that ever happened in history?’
She took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, unsure of what to make of it all.
Seeing the two holding hands and acting so intimately, the Fourth Young Master was overcome with jealousy and couldn’t help but interject:
"I recall the Seventh Young Master only became a Martial Artist a few months ago. How have you progressed so quickly! Might you have some special Cultivation method?"
His question drew the attention of those nearby.
Tang Wen, toying with Shui Yun’s hand, looked up and smiled. "Of course I do."
Huh?
Having asked casually with no real hope of an answer, the Fourth Young Master immediately perked up.
’There’s really a secret?’
Tang Wen leaned back in his chair. "Normally, I wouldn’t reveal such a secret in public. But we’re all brothers in the same gang, aren’t we? Once you all deliver what you lost in the bet, I’ll share this secret with everyone!"
